So this movie was middle of the road for me. It had some fun and entertaining parts. It also had some slow and meandering parts. It seemed lacking in some way that I can't quite put my finger on.
I am glad that it did mostly come together in the end, despite the very slow way getting there. I almost quit watching several times in the first third because of the tedious process of waiting for the plot to actually come together.
The acting was alright, but nothing special. The main character's performance was mostly believable, but she did have a few moments that were noticeably lacking. The leading actor, who played the father, probably mostly carried the film. I was surprised at how little the actor who played the fiancee seemed to be up for the task. I have seen him in other things, so I know he isn't completely untalented. However, in this film he seemed to lack the passion of his character, and seemed often times flat.
It was an okay movie, but nothing special. The dancing was fun in the second half. I think the plot and characters could have been much deeper and more cohesive, and if that had been done; maybe this could have been a really decent movie. In retrospect, I wonder if the flat and inconsistent acting was because of the poorly written characters not giving the actors enough to know how to portray them.

Wonderful film about a woman who is to be married only to discover that she has a father.
John Schneider is absolutely wonderful as her dad. Schneider proves in this film that he is quite a hoofer.
You can't imagine why his marriage failed until the very end when it's revealed why. How sad the reasoning was.
When her father enters her life, naturally, he enters her personal problems as well. She has the opportunity to sell her dance studio to a developer and use the money to become a psychologist. Her fiancé wants her to do this and after a wonderful meeting with his father-in-law to be, it becomes possible that the 2 men might very well lock horns over this thorny issue. Why would the mother, now deceased, leave Schneider's name on the deed? It is all tied together quite well.

His performance represents the lead motif to see this film , one of many family dramas , using familiar pieces, a nice story, decent performances. a father, his daughter, a dance studio and a choice, crumbs of past as keys to define a gesture. and the true love. a film about life. sweet - bitter, not great but comfortable. short, a lovely show , with few beautiful performances, dose of soup for soul and nice message. enough for see it. as one of good occasions to remind to yourself old, fundamental truths.
This isn't a romance movie, instead it's about a Daughter who runs a dance studio reconnecting with a Father she never knew after her mother dies.
The issue of whether to keep the studio or sell it isn't much of a drama. Some nice simple dancing.
The actors are quite likeable. John Schneider is a familiar actor and he plays the Father quite nicely. Roma Downey plays a friend of the girl's late mother. Should have not done the cosmetic procedures.
OK for one watch.
