Sometimes you need to Watch a Movie (like: 'Battlefield Earth' 'Blair Witch 2' -or- 'The New Exorcist' ) to fully appreciate just how Truly BAD it is. And despite the abysmal reviews on both sides of the aisle (which may seem hyperbolic to some): I can state with absolute certainty that this Movie is in fact BAD.

The Script, Sound, Editing, Acting & Creature Effects were all acutely terrible. The only saving grace was some of the Photography & Production Value (i.e. The Shot-framing, Establishing Shots -&- Color-grading etc.)

Everything else was done haphazardly & felt just wrong. If this was the filmmakers first journey into the art of celluloid then I could perhaps understand, but that still doesn't change the fact that this film was abominable in it's attempt to entertain, captivate & thrill it's paying audience. (** 2 Stars out of 10)

Imagine yourself smacking a crippled person. It's not the worst you can do, but it's definitely bad. That represents this movie. Without acknowledging the bad CGI, the awful creature design, the terrible acting, the most terrible thing is its screenplay. A half-baked couple drama, with a half-baked monster movie, with a half-baked character development.

When a young film camera is misbehaving, mom film camera tells it that "if you keep misbehaving, you'll end up being used to film a movie like Consumed".

Horrible movie, so childish, a waste of time!

Weak plot, weak acting and it doesn't scare you at all. So childish as well it's like taken from a fairytale.

And white people if you hear something that sounds crazy scary and you are in the middle of nowhere why the heck would you go out of your tent and look for that sound? It doesn't make any sense to any human being. Why would the actress run directly to see the monster?? Logically you should run away and never look back neverr.

In conclusion, the movie sucks, doesn't deserve your time and it is not scary at all even to young children.

So i read his super comment and i knew it was a gonna be trash. But he wrote his comment so hilarious that i literally had to watch this movie no matter how bad it is. The marketing team of this movie - if there is such thing - should hire him as a reverse psychology expert. Thank you TopReviewer, because of you i was ready to watch

yet i was not ready by the terrible acting of the Dudette. And making an extremely close shot make her look like a fish, didnt they teach in the art schools that do not reach the person with the camera but zoom it otherwise lenses will show the person like a handicapped. Now the acting and directing was horrible, but i kind of liked the idea of the story but only very bad executed. The limited budget didnt show us wendigo a lot but still makes no sense when that thing in some scenes can travel almost in a speed of light but somehow a woman that carries a crippled husband is not catchable.

Well i watched the movie as fun, not for having fun to watching the movie but to have fun of the movie and it worked up to some level. Thx TopReviewer.

Beth and Jay are on a camping trip in a wilderness (nice scenery, filmed in NJ) and she has been cancer free for a year, and wants a special trip to celebrate. The first thing that came to mind is the writers had no camping experience. One does not, upon getting out of a tent one has spent the night, immediately go on a very long walk to look as the scenery. And when they were hiking, they did not use the chest straps for their packs. And some of what they had at the campsite was not brought in with their frame packs, nor was their fire a camping fire. So time to focus on the film. There is plenty of spookiness to help set the stage, and the special effects of the creature zooming around in the woods is done quite well. Beth suffered nightmares, and the placement of those in the movie was not an asset. Beth suffers a fall, and cuts her leg, and while at the river, she sees a skinned animal. On going back, their camp is trashed, and covered with slime. Never a good sign. And to make matters worse, Jay steps on a bear trap, and fractures a bone in his leg. Fortunately, along comes a man, Quinn, who rescues them. But what is he doing there, and what is his purpose? He carries Jay back to where he has a bunker, but what is there about the woman in the locket he is wearing. And what is really out there? The creature seems very ominous. With a tighter script, it might have been a better movie. It may not deserve a 4, but I can't give it a 3. So think 3 1/2.
