Lawman could very well be Segal's way back into a big movie instead of the straight to DVD drivel that he's been dumping out since early 2000.
Steven is believable as a cop even if I don't buy the claim that he's been working the Jefferson Parish sheriff's office for 3 months out of the year since 1989 (why do so many of the citizens that wind up on camera act so surprised to see Segal if he's been doing that for 20 years?). He mentors younger officers in self-defense and is a solid marksman. The entire 1/2 hour leaves you smiling if you are a Segal fan. It will leave you entertained if you enjoy any of the Cop/Prison shows that are out there today.

I love him, How I wish I could meet him, shake his big strong hands, Ha! I don't care what people saying bad things about Steven Seagal, I watched all his great awesome movies. I wish I was his real friend in real life, I'm 46 years old and disable hearing lost person and How I wish, Steven Seagal teach me his moves and be my, Grand Master, forever. Take care my friend and I bow to you, Sincerely, Jr
I was watching the biography channel late at night and they where showing a full hour of Steven's bio. And i must say i am not really a big fan of his work. During his bio showing, they showed small clips of a show he has done,LawMan. Now I must say, i was intrigued. I got around on watching the show the next day, and i must say, he makes a better cop then actor.
The show really sucks you in after 4 episodes. At first i sort of found it had a much slower pace then other reality cop shows out there. And honestly, the more i watched more i realised that is a good thing. We get to see much more of a human side of a cop's day at work. And most important, we get to see past Steven's tuff man persona.
The is a nice mix of humour, drama and even suspense. Without going into details there's even one scene you really hope Steven gets a hold of the criminal and gives them what the seriously deserve.
I am not surprised that it only went for one season, but in my opinion it is one season strong. I strongly recommend.

Just saw this weeks episode. There was a guy that was drunk as a skunk with an open container who was driving a car. They took him NOT for the DWI but for warrants. They then let us know that he did NOT get charged for the DWI at all. They let the other guy (also drunk) call his girlfriend to drive the car. I guess Jefferson Parish has no tow yard. They also pulled two men over with who knows what in a bottle and said it was medicine. Ever heard of the open container law? Last week, same thing. They caught a guy driving drunk and just let him go. You have got to be kidding me! I would like to move to their precinct so that I can drink and drive and know that there are no repercussions. Great job, guys, keep up the good work!
I was extremely excited when I saw the previews to "Lawman" air on TV. I actually had to wait a couple months to be able to set my DVR to record the show. Now I'm not a Steven Seagal fan per-say, but I do enjoy police/prison shows. When I was able to sit down and watch the recorded show I was pretty disappointed by the editing! Just absolutely horrific editing. Things like the same camera shot used multiple times and bad "background music". I was able to tell when one shot of him "turning to watch a suspect" then the next forward shot of him facing forward riding in the truck with a "just riding around" look on his face, were completely edited shots that were smashed together.
Watching Steven work as a Deputy Sheriff along with watching him teach other deputy's self-defense and firearms training was awesome, I studied what he had to say for my own personal use.
PLEASE for the love of God... FIRE the editors. Or Stop using cheesy back ground music, the same shot over and over or smashing shots that don't match together!!
Because of the horrible editors I gave 8 out of ten stars for this review. Good show premise... but bad execution!
