As a disclaimer I started playing video games in the 80's so I've played many bad games, this one is not one of them but it is far from being a very good game either. 3.7 star its underrated and unfair to all the people involved in the making of the game. I've worked in some creative projects myself outside of the game industry and I know that people try their best but it is hard to achieve excelence if you don't have time to do it. I understand the other side as well, as a consumer if I pay for something, I want to have the best experience possible, if I can pay less better!
So, something went wrong in the process of making this game, it's unfinished for sure. Nevertheless I finished the game and that's what I found:
Ill start with the bad... the gameplay mechanic in general is my main complain, in the begining it's king of cool and diferent but once you achive upper levels and you upgraded the skills (not many of them!) the combat system turns repetitive as hell. Also the stealth mechanic does not work well, a lot of times I've tried to progress the arenas without being notice and it was almost impossible and cluncky.
I must say that I have many issues with modern arena games and boss fights in games because most of the times all you have to do is circle the enemy and dodge-dodge-atack-defend many many times. I wish so bad for a bossless game trend in the game industry
The story its ok with some potential for a sequel in a fantasy world not a dystopian post apocalyptic nor a survival horror world, thank god!
The indian steampunk vibe and the concept art of world was cool and refreshing. The maps and the way you progress its limited and linear but sometimes beautiful. As a portuguese myself I have to stand out the Sintra level 7, it was a surprise progressing in a place inspire by the "Quinta da Regaleira" and the plot of Mr. Matos also cool ahah!
6/10
some fun moments, some beautiful concept art and world . Weak gameplay mechanic and a few annoying bugs. Try a demo first and if you like it buy on a sale.
