Hauser is perhaps best known for starring opposite Taron Egerton in Apple TV+’s crime drama Black Bird, for which he received an Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award, in addition to a SAG Award nomination. Most recently, he was seen starring in drama The Luckiest Man in America, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and had a theatrical release via IFC Films in April.

Production is currently underway in Spain and Ireland on the fresh take on the classic monster, which opens on April 17, 2026 via Warner Bros.

Cronin is directing from his own script and reuniting with Evil Dead Rise director of photography David Garbett.

Exclusive: Eric Appel has been tapped by TriStar Pictures to direct The Breadwinner, starring comedian Nate Bargatze. TriStar preemptively acquired the comedy pitch written by Bargatze and Dan Lagana.

Bargatze, the world’s top touring comedian, will make his feature film acting debut in the film and serve as a producer alongside Lagana. Jeremy Latcham will produce the film through Wonder Project. Shary Shirazi will oversee for the studio.

Bargatze and Lagana are co-writing the script. Plot details for the comedy remain under wraps.

The Emmy winner recently revealed that they’re developing a series with nods to Sex and the City, which they said will focus on the “woman and gay guy friendship.”

“I’m writing a show right now. I’m doing a rewrite actually of this draft right now,” they said on the Dinner’s on Me podcast. “It’s like Sex and the City with two women and two gay guys. ‘Cause the woman and gay guy friendship is a big deal.

“My first best friend is my brother, [who is a] gay guy. All of my best friends growing up are gay boys. I want it to be them,” added Glazer.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” races back into theaters with a slew of familiar faces and a couple new ones.

The big addition for the threequel is Keanu Reeves voicing Shadow the Hedgehog – a fan favorite character from the franchise. Jim Carrey is also back and this time pulling double duty playing both Ivo and Gerald Robotnik. Ben Schwartz also returns once again to voice the titular speedster.

John Cena's next movie, Matchbox, is coming together. The first plot details for the upcoming feature have been unveiled as Apple, Skydance, and Mattel continue to add more actors to the ensemble cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matchbox has been described as "an action-packed, globetrotting adventure" centered around "a group of childhood friends who must work together to stop an impending worldwide disaster and rediscover their friendship along the way." Sam Hargrave, who directed the Chris Hemsworth-led Extraction movies for Netflix, is attached to helm the live-action movie from a screenplay written by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) and Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project). A filming start date has also been revealed, with Matchbox set to kick off production in January 2025.

Sam Richardson, the Emmy-winning comedian known for his work on Veep and Ted Lasso, is joining John Cena in Matchbox, Apple Original Films’ live-action take on the classic Mattel car toy line.

Sam Hargrave, the helmer behind the Extraction action movies, is directing the feature that also has Jessica Biel on the call sheet.

Matchbox is the toy brand first created in 1953 and acquired by Mattel in 1997. The company originally competed with Matchbox in the die-cast car space with its own line, Hot Wheels. According to lore, automotive enthusiast Jack Odell designed the first car for his daughter, who was allowed to take a toy to school only if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox. Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso) has landed a role alongside John Cena and Jessica Biel in Apple’s live-action Matchbox film from Skydance and Mattel Films.

While the film is inspired by Mattel’s iconic real-world die-cast toy vehicle line of the same name, there’s no word yet on who Richardson is playing.

BBC Sets Feature On Fire At Bradford Soccer Match

The BBC is making a feature doc about a tragic fire at a Bradford soccer match that preceded the Hillsborough disaster. On the 40th anniversary of the tragedy, the BBC said Unforgotten: The Bradford City Fire (working title) will provide “the definitive record of a forgotten tragedy, as told through the compelling personal testimony of those who were there, many of whom speak here for the first time.” The fire is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette or match at half time of Bradford City’s game with Lincoln City in 1985. The number of lives lost reached 56 and the event made headlines around the world but has since been somewhat forgotten, overshadowed by the Hillsborough disaster that took place four years later. Will Ferrell is hitting the streets for a new comedy feature from 20th Century Studios.

The performer is attached to produce and star in Street Justice for director Peter Atencio. Dave Callaham is writing the script for the project that will center on a character who decides to deliver his own brand of justice.

Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum of Gloria Sanchez serve as producers alongside David Koplan. Callaham is an executive producer.

Atencio has helmed the features Keanu (2016) and The Machine (2023) and is known for television work on such projects as Key & Peele, The Last Man on Earth and The Afterparty.
