Resumo
Reviewers say 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' garners mixed reactions. Praised for faithfulness to the books, casting, and character relationships, it faces criticism for pacing, development, and plot deviations. Action scenes and dialogue receive mixed feedback, while changes to character traits and looks disappoint some fans. Despite issues, many hope for future improvements and closer adherence to the books.

So very far from the mark. I had hope that the film adaptations could redeem themselves, since this was a huge part of many of our childhoods. The script is bad enough, but it is further ruined by pointless story changes, and boring scenes that leave you just wanting it to be over already.
Disney yet again runs out of ideas, even when the source material is right in front of them. Sincerely hoping that the series drops, same as what happened to the movies, to leave room for a possible, successful reboot in the future.
Watching is a waste of time. Read the books and preserve your view of the characters since this isn't them.

As someone who has read the books ten times over I couldn't be more disappointed by this show. The number of times I found myself shaking my head and laughing at various scenes in disgust is so unbelievably shocking to me, as I was realizing that I enjoyed the movies more than this show.
With Rick Riordan himself spearheading this show I expected to get what I've been waiting for since I was a kid, but the terrible acting and changes to the story made me unable to make it through episode three. Annabeth is completely unconvincing (zero redeeming qualities) and is easily the worst casting in the show. I also find myself actively rooting against Percy, he's so unlikable it's comical. Hearing his voice just angers me.
The second I reach the Medusa scene I had to stop watching. How Rick saw the negative effect changing the story had on the movies and decided to repeat that same mistake is baffling.
I tried to give it one more shot and simply couldn't. The show is unwatchable, plain and simple. This is never making it to season two. I can't even blame Disney for this one, Rick failed us.

Well, it's here. The first two episodes are out, and here are my early thoughts.
I've been excited for Season 2-although I'll admit it snuck up on me. Overall, it's good, but it doesn't feel like a step up from Season 1. As a longtime fan of the Percy Jackson books (even though I haven't reread them in years), I still enjoyed returning to this world.
What really carried these first two episodes for me was Leah Jeffries' emotional performance. She absolutely steps up this season and brings real depth to Annabeth. Walker Scobell continues to be strong and reliable as Percy, and Daniel Diemer does a wonderful job as Tyson, adding warmth and heart. The supporting cast also delivers solid performances across the board.
From a technical standpoint, the production quality looks great, and the CGI is genuinely impressive. That said, the season so far feels very familiar-almost like we're watching Season 1 again rather than seeing a clear evolution in storytelling or tone.
Overall though, - as a fan - I'm excited to see what quest the Lightning Thief will go on next!

My headline pretty much says it. The pacing is too fast honestly (great for kids with short attention spans ig) and the lines seem pretty cliché and cheesy to be frank. The visual effects could also be a bit better. I know the movie wasn't everyone's favorite but I do think they had better visuals in it. The issue with the pacing is that it really isn't giving the audience enough time to create an emotional relationship with Percy that readers might already have. If anything this series is for them and no one else which doesn't make it good television. And I might be in the minority but there is nothing wrong with slowing down and letting your affections for the character grow. Since these are based on books they could've gone even MORE in depth than before but they actually are seeming to go faster through the intro stuff than they really should be. I think the show is overhyped and hope it gets better.
Having read and loved all the books (and even enjoying the films to some extent), I had high expectations for the new series adaptation.
However, upon finishing the first season, I couldn't help but feel somewhat disappointed. There seemed to be so much potential for exciting scenes, thrilling moments, and epic action sequences, yet the entire first season fell short in delivering them. Many fans, myself included, found ourselves eagerly anticipating major developments in several episodes, only to be met with a lack of significant action.
Even the most memorable scenes from the books felt watered down, lacking the challenge and excitement they originally possessed. There were no spectacular moves or thrilling fights to be found.
While I understand that this adaptation is geared towards a younger audience, I still believe there is room for more action and excitement. I urge the creators to follow the books more closely and inject more energy into the series.
As a suggestion, I recommend looking at the new Airbender series, which targets a similar audience but manages to pack more action into its opening scene than the entire first season of Percy Jackson.
I'm hopeful that future episodes and seasons will explore these themes more deeply and deliver the excitement that fans of the books are craving.
