‘Alpha’ Review: A Potentially Infected Tattoo Sparks a Tortured AIDS Allegory in Julia Ducournau’s Rotten Follow-up to ‘Titane’
Image
Judging by the sudden spike in high-concept AIDS allegories hitting the festival circuit, it must have been the shock of Covid-19 that sent so many artists’ minds racing back to that previous pandemic. In many ways, the mistakes in handling that crisis taught us how to approach subsequent outbreaks in a more humane way.

Premiering in competition at the Cannes Film Festival two years after “Titane” took the Palme d’Or, Julia Ducournau’s “Alpha” is one of three science fiction entries at this year’s fest in which an imaginary, allegorical illness allows a filmmaker to revisit the trauma and tragedy of the AIDS crisis. “Alpha” is by far the most exasperating of these movies, at once bluntly obvious and maddeningly unclear, taking as its protagonist a 13-year-old girl (Mélissa Boros) who comes home from a party with a crude homemade tattoo.

What was the needle like? Was it clean or dirty?...

Why Kaitlyn Dever's Eve Baxter Left Last Man Standing
Image
2011 was a huge year for Kaitlyn Dever. Though she was only 14 at the time, the up-and-coming actor booked small parts in two high profile movies ("Bad Teacher" and Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar"), popped as tough Kentucky cookie Loretta McCready in the magnificent second season of "Justified," and joined the main cast of Tim Allen's new sitcom "Last Man Standing." That's quite a range of shows and films, and this ensured Dever would get to flaunt her burgeoning talent all the way across the demographic spectrum.

For families with young viewers, "Last Man Standing" was the kind of relentlessly inoffensive sitcom they could watch together without worrying there'd be a ribald gag or profanity. Say what you will about Allen (and I'm quite certain the cocaine dealers he snitched on in 1978 to avoid serving a length prison sentence have said plenty about him), he knows what his audience expects from him,...

When Steve Carell Stepped In To Stop Timothée Chalamet’s Extreme Weight Loss Diet For This Film
Image
How Did Steve Carell React To Timothée Chalamet’s Drastic Weight Loss? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Timothée Chalamet went all in for Beautiful Boy, losing more weight than planned. His co-star, Steve Carell, eventually stepped in. Playing meth-addicted Nic Sheff, Chalamet’s transformation was intense – pushing his body to the limit for the memoir-based drama.

That meant dropping weight fast. In a conversation with Emma Stone during a Variety interview, he admitted, “I lost what was supposed to be 15 [pounds] and then it was 18.” Stone, taken aback, asked how he even managed that. Chalamet explained, “It’s just very hyper-concentrated portions of nutrients… Did you see Snowpiercer? It’s like the protein goo.” He laughed, but the process was grueling.

The physical toll extended beyond just looking the part. Timothee Chalamet felt the weight loss altered his energy, presence, and even how others reacted to him. Steve Carell, who played Nic’s father,...

This Devastating Performance Should Have Earned Timothée Chalamet His Second Oscar Nomination Long Before 'A Complete Unknown'
Image
Timothée Chalamet has undeniably become one of film’s most sought after stars. Throughout his entire career, the actor has always managed to steal the spotlight, whether it was in the modest thriller One & Two or big-budget franchises likeDune, Chalamet is a once-in-a-generation talent, something the actor proved early into his career. Chalamet’s rise to prominence truly came about with his performance as Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino’s stunning queer romance, Call Me by Your Name, making him the youngest Best Actor nominee in over 80 years. Now, Chalamet has once again caught the Academy’s attention, and has been nominated for his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. While this is a great accomplishment for the actor, his second nomination really should have been for his work in Beautiful Boy. Based on the memoirs of Nic Sheff and his father, David Sheff, Chalamet gives one of the finest,...

Chalamet, who was in second place in the Gold Derby odds, beat Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Daniel Craig (Queer), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave).

"I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me," Chalamet said during his acceptance speech. Image
In a “simple twist of fate,” Timothée Chalamet has made history.

Chalamet won his first major awards precursor for his transformational performance as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic “A Complete Unknown.”

“I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness,” Chalamet said while accepting his award. “I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. So I’m deeply grateful. This doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel. It’s a little more ammo to keep going. Thank you so much.”

Image
We are used to seeing him as a funny guy. From The 40-Year-Old Virgin to The Office, Steve Carell has been excellent at landing some of the best iconic roles. He completely blew us away when he took on a dark, serious role as the real eccentric, multi-billionaire John du Pont in Foxcatcher. Based on a true story, the film centers on U.S. Olympic wrestling champion brothers who join Du Pont's "Team Foxcatcher" to train for the 1988 Olympic Games in South Korea. Bennett Miller—the director of Capote and Moneyball—tells the story of Olympic champions Mark Schultz and David Schultz joining the team of a billionaire who is not all who he seems. From the moment Carell appears on-screen, audiences may have to take a double take because it's easy to instantly forget that it is him on screen. Carell has starred in other serious roles, such...

Timothée Chalamet movies: 18 greatest films ranked worst to best
Image
Timothee Chalamet has quickly emerged as one of the more unique Hollywood leading men in recent years. With his lanky frame, brooding vigor and deeply felt sensitivity, the young man has become one of the most notable stars of his generation. His career began in TV movies and series, with recurring roles on such shows as Homeland and Royal Pains. He made his film debut in the Jason Reitman film Men, Women & Children in a relatively minor part. Those smaller roles continued through 2016 in films like Interstellar and The Adderall Diaries, playing younger versions of principal characters.

While Chalamet had a handful of substantial roles in indie movies, like 2016’s Miss Julie, everything changed the following year with the release of Call Me by Your Name. The actor’s sensitive portrayal of a 17-year-old finding his first great love garnered universal praise and landed him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Timothée Chalamet Gained 20 Pounds to Play Bob Dylan: ‘Believe It or Not, I Was Thinner Than the Guy’
Image
Timothée Chalamet learned to play guitar and sing like Bob Dylan for “A Complete Unknown.” He also gained 20 pounds to look more like the folk music legend, he revealed an interview with NPR.

“I’ve turned over every stone. I did all the work, like you just described, physicality, behavior-wise,” Chalamet told “All Things Considered” host Ailsa Chang. “But something we haven’t really talked about, I also put on 20 pounds because, believe it or not, I was thinner than the guy.”

Chalamet is nominated for best actor for his performance in the James Mangold film, which chronicles Dylan’s arrival in New York City at age 19 in 1961 to his transformative “going electric” moment at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

The 29-year-old actor previously spoke about his body type in a November interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

What is Saturday Night Live host Timothée Chalamet's net worth?
Image
Timothée Chalamet returns to Saturday Night Live this week to host for the second time. He brings along a new Oscar nomination for A Complete Unknown as well as an impressive net worth.

Chalamet, 29, first hosted in December 2020. It came between the release of Little Women and Dune, two of the biggest projects on the actor's resume.

His second turn in 2025, set for January 25, arrives when Chalamet is only a bigger star in Hollywood. And with that rising trajectory comes an equally growing net worth.

Timothée Chalamet's net worth stands at an estimated $25 million in 2025 (per CelebrityNetWorth). That puts him in the ballpark of other SNL season 50 hosts like Bill Burr and Martin Short, and trailing stars such as Ariana Grande, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.

Inside Timothée Chalamet's net worth

Timothée Chalamet may only be 29 years old, but he's been acting since he was child thanks to short film and commercial gigs.

Best Actor Oscar breakdown, from the locks (Adrien Brody) to the long shots (Jesse Eisenberg)
Image
The twice-delayed announcement of nominations for the 97th Academy Awards is finally coming Thursday. While many communities remain evacuated or in recovery mode due to the deadly Los Angeles area wildfires — and nerves remain shot everywhere — the industry is allowing itself a moment to once again contemplate the Oscars.

For Best Actor there is a strong field of contenders, with one clear standout (at the moment). But four of the five slots look to be safely locked up. That said, there are always challengers on the bubble and long shots well worth considering. So let's consider them all.

Locks

Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) — 39/20 odds

Brody has a lock on a nomination and — after winning the Golden Globe for his role as László Tóth, a fictional Hungarian Jewish architect subjected to the horrors of the Buchenwald death camp in World War II — has leapfrogged to the top of nearly everyone's list.

Timothée Chalamet's Oscars Buzz Is For The Wrong Movie
Image
Timothée Chalamet will most likely be nominated for Best Actor for A Complete Unknown, but he should actually be getting more recognition for his other 2024 role. Chalamet is one of the most prominent rising stars in Hollywood, and has starred in movies such as Call Me by Your Name, Beautiful Boy, and Bones and All. 2024 was one of the best years of Chalamet's career, as he starred in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. Reviews for A Complete Unknown, which chronicles a few years early on in Dylan's career, have been exceptional.

For A Complete Unknown, Chalamet transformed into Dylan, and has received a ton of praise for his role in the film. A Complete Unknown is one of Timothée Chalamet's best movies, but Bob Dylan was actually not his best role of 2024. Early in 2024, Chalamet starred in Dune: Part Two, the long-awaited follow-up to Denis Villeneuve's first Dune film.

Golden Globes Is Proof Timothée Chalamet Can Forever Lose the Chance to Break a 23-Year-Old Oscars Record
Image
The list of Golden Globes winners is out, and Timothée Chalamet has lost to Adrien Brody in the lead actor category. The competition was tough this year with some of the most impactful movies filled with power-packed performances for the awards. Two of the most powerful contenders on that list were Timothée Chalamet and Adrien Brody for their movies A Complete Unknown and The Brutalist, respectively.

While Chalamet played the role of a young Bob Dylan in the biographical film, Brody portrayed the story of an immigrant finding his footing in America after escaping the war. Although many had high hopes for Chalamet to seize his chance and bag the award, Brody’s win did not exactly come as a surprise.

However, this has surely made the competition for the Oscars tougher, according to many fans. Incidentally, if...

Timothée Chalamet hasn’t even turned 30, but that isn’t stopping the American Cinematheque from embarking on a week-long retrospective of the Oscar-nominated actor’s red-hot career.

“I’ll just say this — there’s nothing more uniquely hilarious, and something you cannot share with anyone, when you get home and you tear up the little thing that you never had to use,” said Chalamet on SiriusXM. “And you think to yourself, ‘You narcissistic arrogant prick. On what planet did you think you were going to use this?'”

Chalamet’s radio appearance comes after he earned a Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama nomination for his performance as Dylan in co-writer/director James Mangold‘s A Complete Unknown.

He’s in contention for the best actor in a motion picture drama prize at the 2025 ceremony thanks to his acclaimed performance as Bob Dylan in the biographical music drama “A Complete Unknown.” Chalamet’s last three nominations did not end in victory; he recently told SiriusXM there’s nothing funnier than ripping up your acceptance speech after losing.

“This is my fourth Golden Globe nomination,” Chalamet said. “Look, I’ll just say this… There’s nothing more uniquely hilarious and something you cannot share with anyone when you get home and you tear up the little thing that you never had to use and you think to yourself, ‘You narcissistic arrogant prick. Timothée Chalamet is opening up about what really happens at award ceremonies when he’s had an acceptance speech prepared but didn’t win.

The actor recently appeared on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up to promote his upcoming film A Complete Unknown, which has given Chalamet Oscar buzz for his portrayal of singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. When co-host Nicole Ryan asked Chalamet if he writes an acceptance speech ahead of time for award shows or wings it when he gets called up on stage, the actor had a comical take.

“What a great question ’cause like you said, this is my fourth Golden Globe nomination,” he said. “Look, I’ll just say this … there’s nothing more uniquely hilarious and something you cannot share with anyone when you get home and you tear up the little thing that you never had to use and you think to yourself, ‘You narcissistic arrogant prick.

While celebrating his fourth Golden Globe nomination, Timothée Chalamet admitted that writing acceptance speeches ahead of time made him feel like a “narcissistic prick.”

The actor, who is again nominated for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in the biopic “A Complete Unknown,” told SiriusXM host Nicole Ryan, “There’s nothing more uniquely hilarious and something you cannot share with anyone when you get home and you tear up the little thing that you never had to use and you think to yourself, ‘You narcissistic prick.’ On what planet did you think you were gonna use this?”

Chalamet previously earned Golden Globe nominations for his performances in “Wonka,” “Beautiful Boy” and “Call Me By Your Name,” none of which he won (he also received an Oscar nomination for the Luca Guadagnino movie).

Image
Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan may both have two films each vying for awards contention this year in Chalamet’s “A Complete Unknown” and “Dune: Part Two” and Ronan’s “The Outrun” and “Blitz,” but the pair took the time to reunite in London to discuss two films they appeared in together at the earlier stages of their careers.

In a special event hosted by the British Film Institute and Vanity Fair at the BFI Southbank on Wednesday evening, Chalamet and Ronan reflected on making 2017’s “Lady Bird” and 2019’s “Little Women,” both from a pre-“Barbie” writer/director Greta Gerwig.

While the two hadn’t me prior to “Lady Bird,” Chalamet recalled being told about Ronan by Emery Cohen, who had worked with her on the 2016 hit “Brooklyn.”

“I kept hearing this name ‘Saoirse, Saoirse’ and didn’t put two and two together when I saw the name spelled out,...

Bob Dylan Is Sure Timothée Chalamet Will Be “Completely Believable as Me” in ‘A Complete Unknown’
Image
Bob Dylan has no qualms about Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of him in James Mangold’s upcoming A Complete Unknown.

“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” Dylan wrote on social media on Wednesday. “Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”

Mangold’s film is set in the summer of 1961, when a 19-year-old Dylan arrived in New York City from Minnesota with little else than his guitar. The movie is based on the 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric! Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties by Elijah Wald, which explores the controversy surrounding Dylan’s switch to electrically amplified instrumentation.

Dylan wrote on Wednesday that the book is “a fantastic retelling of events...

“I hate Ryan Reynolds”: Fans Talk About the Most Overrated Stars in Hollywood and Some of the Picks Are Just Terrible
Image
Fans picked Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds as well as Adam Sandler as some of the most overrated stars in Hollywood. In a vox pop by a popular page, common folk in the UK were asked about who they think are the most overrated stars in Hollywood, and Reynolds, Sandler, and Timothée Chalamet seemed to dominate the list.

While some members of the list may deserve it, others such as Chalamet have proved why they are at the top. Even actors like Adam Sandler and Dwayne Johnson, who were featured in the list, seem to be taking on roles that are not of their usual style. The jury is still out, however, on these stars.

Timothée Chalamet Says He Lost Out on ‘Maze Runner,’ ‘Divergent’ Roles Because He Didn’t “Have the Right Body”
Image
While Timothée Chalamet has cemented his name in Hollywood, his path to get here wasn’t what he initially had in mind.

The Oscar-nominated actor recently shared in an interview for the cover of Rolling Stone U.K. that he was aiming for roles in action movies such as Maze Runner and Divergent early in his career; however, he was consistently shut down due to his body type.

“I would always get the same feedback, ‘Oh, you don’t have the right body,’” Chalamet recalled. “I had an agent call me once and say, ‘I’m tired of getting the same feedback. We’re gonna stop submitting you for these bigger projects, because you’re not putting on weight.’ I was trying to put on weight. I couldn’t! I basically couldn’t. My metabolism or whatever the fuck couldn’t do it.”

That led the Dune: Part Two star to pursue more indie projects,...

Timothée Chalamet Reveals Why He Lost Out on ‘Maze Runner’ and ‘Divergent’ Roles
Image
Timothée Chalamet is a well-known actor in Hollywood and is in very high demand today, despite the fact that he appeared – very early in his career – in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.

Recently, though, Chalamet has been landing big movie roles after his successful performances in the Oscar-nominated films Lady Bird, Call Me by Your Name, and Little Women. His two most recent works, Wonka and the Dune trilogy, have both been huge bestsellers.

As Chalamet is waiting for the release of his Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, he gave a very interesting interview to Rolling Stone magazine, in which he discussed his early career on film.

While he is today best-known as a dramatic actor who picks (more or less) complex and layered roles, Chalamet revealed that he wanted to take a completely different path early in his career and that the rejections he faced “forced” him, in a way,...

Rainn Wilson has played one of the most iconic roles in the history of television, and that is none other than, Dwight Schrute from The Office. The character is so memorable that many fans still struggle to separate Rainn, the actor, from Dwight, the role.

Strangely enough, despite the role’s popularity and his brilliant performance, Wilson never won an Emmy for it. But you know what? That’s not his biggest regret. Not even close. There’s something else that he himself has admitted will haunt him for the rest of his life.

What Is Rainn Wilson’s Biggest Regret?

Sitcoms have a way of crawling into an actor’s life. Spend enough time on set, and suddenly, the fake sets feels like home, and the props become oddly personal. The Office, of course, isn’t just any sitcom,...

Image
Felix Van Groeningen’s critically acclaimed movie, Beautiful Boy, starring Timothée Chalamet and Steve Carell has been one of the most emotionally jarring films of all time, dealing with father-son relationship while addressing the honest struggles of drug addiction. However, while the onscreen elements of the film seemed dark and depressing, there was one element of fun to the film’s production.

It was Timothée Chalamet’s undying love and affection for Steve Carell’s The Office, that kept things light on set for people involved in the production. To be fair, it’s not surprising to learn that Carell and Chalamet would seek out a bit of levity while making the tough material that not only tells the visceral story about drug addiction but is based on a true story about a real family.

Timothée Chalamet's Favorite Movie Of His Didn't Do Anything For His Career
Image
Timothée Chalamet is only 28 years old, but he's been a busy little beaver throughout his decade-long career. To date, he has appeared in 23 movies, and has been the lead or co-lead in almost half of them. He's a bona-fide star now, so expect those roles to stay big and juicy for the foreseeable future.

If you were to ask regular moviegoers to name a favorite Chalamet film, you're likely to get quite the assortment of answers. Those with a taste for the bittersweet might go with Luca Guadagnino's "Call Me By Your Name" or Felix van Groeningen's "Beautiful Boy." Horror lovers will most assuredly bare their fangs in defense of Guadagnino's "Bones and All." Sci-fi aficionados are duty bound to throw down for Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" saga.
