While it’s only been about a month since Amazon cancelled this Philippines’ beach crime show, there seems to still be hope for its rebirth. Almost Paradise, created by Dean Devlin and Gary Rosen, was scrapped back in April, half a decade following its premiere on WGN America; however, Devlin has amazing news for fans who have been rooting for its return. The co-creator confirmed to TV Insider that the series is currently being shopped to other broadcasters for a third season, meaning that in no time, fan-favorites Christian Kane, Samantha Richelle and Arthur Acuñawill grace our screens once again.

Almost Paradise had pretty good ratings despite being moved from WGN America to IMDb TV, which then became Amazon Freevee. And with the cancellation, Devlin finds it "unusual." He voiced so, while discussing the upcoming The Librarians: The Next Chapter, noting how popular Almost Paradise is, yet it has no new home.

Brooke Shields has landed yet another role on television after the success of her Netflix movie Mother of the Bride. However, this latest project also officially reunites her with the writer behind the 2024 romantic comedy to recapture the magic of their surprise megahit. During AMC Networks' presentation on Monday, Acorn TV announced that Shields will lead the new murder mystery series Allie & Andi with Robin Bernheim serving as creator and writer. Production is slated to begin on the six-episode show this fall en route to a release sometime in 2026.

Paradise can’t last forever, it seems: The tropical action drama Almost Paradise has been cancelled after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed.

“We’re looking for a new home,” executive producer Dean Devlin tells TV Insider. “I’ve never had a show that was this successful and yet couldn’t stay at the same place more than one season.” Almost Paradise debuted on WGN America back in 2020 and then moved to Amazon Freevee for Season 2, which aired in July 2023. A source tells TVLine that when Freevee was scrapped last year, Almost Paradise became a casualty.

One of Gerard Butler’s most forgotten movies is stirring up a storm on Netflix nearly 10 years after being released. Butler stars alongside Andy Garcia and Ed Harris in Geostorm, the 2017 sci-fi/disaster thriller that tells the story of a team of scientists led by Jake Lawson (Butler) who race against the clock to save Earth from a dangerous geostorm that is capable of wiping out the entire planet. The Leverage Crew is back to fight for the little guy. Today, Prime Video revealed the premiere date and first look for Leverage: Redemption Season 3.

The third installment of the drama will consist of 10 episodes with the first three episodes premiering April 17, and new episodes releasing every Thursday. The Masked Singer is back!

A new episode of the mystery celebrity singing competition aired on Wednesday night (Oct. 2) on Fox.

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season also features Ambassadors, who are all alums of the series, that have a special connection to each singer and will be providing major new clues about their friends’ identities.

During the episode, Buffalo, Woodpecker, Showbird, and Ship hit the stage for their first performances of the season.

Broadcast and connected television technology firm Amagi and enterprise software platform Whip Media are teaming up with production and distribution company Electric Entertainment to help optimize the latter’s streaming and video distribution strategies, the companies announced on Friday.

The partnership will involve the three working together on new analytics and content performance tracking solutions that will help Electric Entertainment optimize its distribution strategies centered around its content brand Electric Now.

The initial phase of the pact will see Whip Media integrate its FASTrack solution into Amagi Analytics, which the company say will help Electric Now “optimize its content performance tracking and enhance partner payment solutions in the rapidly growing Fast and AVOD (ad-supported video on-demand) markets.”

Fans of Leverage: Redemption are hoping to hear more about Season 3. Here's an update on when the show will return!

Leverage was a great hit for TNT when it debuted in 2008. The plotline was Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton), a former insurance fraud investigator, bands with a pack of crooks: grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman), thief Parker (Beth Reisgraf), "hitter" Eliot (Christian Kane) and hacker Hardison (Aldis Hodge). The group pulls con games and thefts to bring down the rich and corrupt and give the proceeds to the victims of such crooks. 

The show ran five seasons, ending in 2012. In 2021, Freevee revived it as Leverage: Redemption. The plotline was Nate had died and the rest of the team reunited with Noah Wyle as Harry, a former corporate lawyer who had seen the light to help them out. Hodge's movie career meant Hardison was mostly absent with Aleyse Shannon joining as new hacker Brenna.

Exclusive: Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden have been cast as leads in darkly comic drama series Sunny Nights for Australian streamer Stan. As we revealed in March, Trent O’Donnell is directing and exec producing, and Echo Lake Entertainment is among the producers.

Sunny Nights will follow siblings Martin (Forte) and Vicki (Carden) Marvin who venture to Sydney determined to start their spray tan business. As TV academy voters fill out their 2024 Emmy nominations ballots, they will have to consider 107 shows for Best Drama Series. This is down by 56 contenders compared to last year. As was the case in 2023, members may not allow their selections to exceed the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which, in this case, will be eight.

2023 Best Drama Series winner “Succession” and six of the seven also-rans are out of the current race because they did not air new episodes during the June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 qualifying period. This leaves “The Crown” as the only 2023 nominee eligible for an immediate return, which could lead to its second victory here following its first in 2021.

Eric Carmen, the Ohio-born soft rock singer-songwriter behind era-defining hits like “All by Myself” and “Hungry Eyes,” as well as “Almost Paradise” from the movie “Footloose,” died over the weekend of undisclosed causes, his wife, Amy announced Monday. He was 74.

Prior to his solo career, Carmen also had success as the lead singer of the early 70s power pop outfit The Raspberries.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” Amy Carmen wrote in a message posted to the singer’s official site and on Facebook. “Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy. Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.”

After almost a year of radio silence, we have some good news to report about Leverage: Redemption.

The fan-favorite reboot has been renewed for a third season, which is set to air in 2024.

There is a significant change on the horizon for the series.

It will no longer be a Freevee original and has been shifted to Prime Video for the next season.

No reason for the change in streaming home has been given, but it's probably thanks to the devoted audience that has embraced the show since it premiered in July 2021.

Reboots are tricky to pull off, with many imploding once the initial curiosity factor wears off.

The series is best known as a showcase for Christian Kane's incredible action skills, but it's also much more character-driven than it's given credit for. And in its second season, it's jumped a story hurdle that other shows in its subgenre usually don't find a satisfying resolution to.

In following Kane's character Alex Walker, Almost Paradise fits into the same general space as fan-favorites like Chuck, Lucifer, Psych and White Collar: an outsider helps law enforcement solve crimes. The main character usually creates friction with the cops or agents because of their conflicting approaches, but they work together because of a mutual goal and eventually, the hero becomes part of the team.

When Almost Paradise premiered, it was a breath of fresh air in the action genre -- but that was years ago. The series survived a lengthy hiatus, during which it moved from WGN to Amazon Freevee and is finally back for its second season. Like its hero Alex Walker, the series has overcome every hurdle without missing a step. Season 2 has all of the excitement, banter, and beautiful scenery that make this an adventure unlike any other.

Since Almost Paradise has been away for literally years, it's no surprise that the series from Independence Day filmmaker Dean Devlin and Gary Rosen comes back with one of its biggest setpieces ever. A pair of bad guys break into the Sacred Heart Church, looking for the titular Magellan Cross. The terrified Father Gabriel informs them that the cross is not in the church, but when he tries to escape, he's stabbed in the gut. The panicked thugs set the place of worship on fire to make his death look like an accident. When a season starts with burning down a church, it's clear that the stakes have been raised.

Elsewhere, forcibly retired DEA agent Alex Walker is taking another physical, with his doctor saying he's made "real progress" in battling his hypertension since coming to the Philippines.

In the second season of Almost Paradise, we follow US DEA agent Alex Walker, played by Christian Kane, along with his friends Kai Mendoza and Ernesto Almares. After being transferred to the Philippines for a relaxed retirement, Alex thought he was done with investigations and crimefighting. However, he was proven wrong when the Mactan Pd asked him to assist their detectives unofficially in catching criminals and solving crimes. Despite being under medical supervision due to a previous heart attack, Alex tries to avoid getting involved but eventually joins forces with Kai and Ernesto. Together, they use Alex’s sharp intuition and investigative prowess to solve various criminal cases, with each episode presenting a different story.

Almost Paradise fans, get ready for a summer with extra blessings, because season 2 is just around the corner! After season one finished airing back in mid-2020, it seemed like we might have seen the last of Alex Walker (Christian Kane) and his new detective friends Kai Mendoza (Samantha Richelle) and Ernesto Almarez (Arthur Acuña), but our favorite gang of Philippines-based crime-solvers are back on the case this July in a brand-new, ten-episode season.

In season two, Alex will be questioning his place on the island, but with the help of his trusted friends, he will discover a renewed sense of family in paradise!

“There’s never been an American series filmed in the Philippines,” star Kane told Tell-Tale TV. “I feel like we know what Korea looks like, we know what Japan looks like and we know what China looks like because we’ve seen films that they’ve been featured in.

The second season of original series “Almost Paradise” is set to premiere on Freevee on July 21. A crime drama, Almost Paradise revolves around a former DEA agent, Alex Walker (Kane), who’s been forced into retirement. He moves to the Filipino island of Cebu and purchases a hotel gift shop, planning to live a tranquil and less stressful life. Unfortunately, the island’s luxury resorts attract rich, powerful, and sometimes criminal elite from around the world, often on a collision course with Alex. Christian Kane (Leverage: Redemption) returns to lead the cast of Amazon Freevee’s Almost Paradise season two as a former DEA agent who’s yanked back into that world after retiring to an island paradise. Freevee’s just launched a new official trailer for the upcoming season which is set to premiere July 21, 2023.

All 10 episodes debut on July 21st, with Art Acuña (What We Could Be) and Samantha Richelle back as series regulars.

Dean Devlin (The Ark) and Gary Rosen (The Librarians) guide the series as co-showrunners and executive producers. Electric Entertainment’s Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson also serve as executive producers.
