That's how bad this show is I'd rather watch Young Sheldon LOL
or Romeo! show on Nickelodeon Romeo Miller was a hip-hop kid too, he was a little disrespectful in the 1st few episodes, but matured later on in the series. I think Young Dylan will never be respectful and will always be a bad influence

I watched the pilot episode of this show to see what Nickelodeon has been up to lately but I can tell you they do not make shows like they used to.
The characters are dry and boring, there's not much to them. You have the two forgettable parents, the stereotypical sassy black girl, the boy who has an imaginary friend and the grandma, who I think they tried to make funny but isn't . I've forgotten all their names already apart from Dylan (and that's just because he's the titular character). It's clear Nickelodeon doesn't make shows like they used to because this show is so boring and full of dead space. The pace of the show is soo slow, longest half hour of my life. It's literally the characters just in the house, just talking all day and improperly placed/overused laugh tracks mostly because every joke made is unfunny. I'm not one to hate laugh tracks that much but in this show it's borderline obnoxious. The plot is also very mundane. Dylan randomly appears at the (whatever their last name is') house after his mother disappears and it takes them 30 mins to portray that plot point when it literally could've been done in the first 5 mins and the episode could've been over. There's nothing much to this episode other than Young Dylan appearing at the house. The acting is also very sub-par. They actors don't make the show feel real or believable. It seems staged and actors are supposed to make things feel real but they fail at this. The kid with the imaginary friend, has really bad and awkward line delivery and often switches off after giving his lines and sits there with a blank expression on his face. Tyler Perry must've recruited some average Joes when casting for this show because the acting is what you would expect to see from a high school film class.

I believe in watching at least 3 episodes of a TV show before giving it a proper review.
This show is like a traditional Tyler Perry show and/or movie. Everything seems wholesome and cool, then boom, someone's on drugs. Yup, Dylan's mom "is a hippy now", according to the grandma, who abandoned Dylan for a month. I really thought Tyler would have went in a different direction since this is a kid's show (not a family show), but someone HAS to be on drugs in his projects.
As far as the actors, the adults are fine, the kids...not so much. Yes, they're kids but they're a bunch a good kid actors from previous years. Dylan's pretty good as an actor, the daughter tries too hard with her acting and the son isn't very good but I do see him improving each episode
The Chicago representation; I hate it and am offended by it. Dylan's from the streets of Chicago and all he speaks is slang. A lot of that "slang" he says is not even from Chicago. "Dawg, dial up, sauce (referring to alcohol), etc." isn't from Chicago. Chicago's knew for "on foe nem, instantly, thot, merch" but of course, Tyler hasn't even talked to Chicago people to know. And Dylan's just a disrespectful character in the show and I really don't like it. Am I happy Nickelodeon has a new black show? Yes but Dylan's more disrespectful than helpful when it comes to having life lessons at the end of each episode. Plus, I'm from Chicago and Tyler Perry makes it seems like this dangerous place and he shouldn't do that
The show is rated TV-G but some dialogue is more suggestive for its rating. A TV-PG rating would be better but Nick is known for rating stuff wrong. Most of Dan Schneider's work should've been TV-PG D honestly. So yeah. The show's not terrible but it's cringy at times and doesn't teach the right messages kids should learn. Episode 4 was about not snitching. And most of the show is just Dylan not respecting his Uncle and Aunt's rules. I've watched 4 episodes and really don't wanna watch anymore.

It's a cheap ripoff of version of Fresh Prince of Belair tyler perry shows are NOT FUNNY
My 9 year old son watched 5 minutes of this show and said " this is not good, I am going to bed." My son liked some pretty mediocre Nickelodeon shows, but this show is unwatchable. Think "Fresh Prince," but with weaker scripts. It is clear that many of the actors are acting, which is not a good sign, but I blame the scripts, not the actors.
