This movie was a mixed bag for me. Most low budget gangster movies follow rules. All Black and Latin actors, inner city story, bad lines, bad acting, and fake looking gangsters.
Consignment broke most of those rules. Cast had a lot different faces in it that surprised the hell out of me. Black, Latin, Native American, Asian, and White. That was really cool. Never thought I would see a fellow Native American in a gangster movie as a outlaw biker. LOL Story took it out of standard inner city moving it out to the suburbs where mid-level dealers are shaking and baking. Ask anyone in Dallas. Suburbs got it moving.
There were really cool lines that might go over peoples heads that don't know what they mean. Watched Consignment w/ my lady and she said what are they talking about? Writer has knowledge.
Bad acting is bad acting on 200 million dollar movie or low budget movie. Consignment has three actors that brought it down. They were bad bad. I sighed when they came on my TV.
Consignment strong points. Story moves fast. Action. Beautiful women. Mixed cast. Picture/sound are tight. Nice soundtrack. Great Ending!
Consignment weak points. Three bad actors. Two parts that were directed bad looked chopped together.
See for yourself.

Consignment was what I would consider one of the better independent films. It is defiantly an independent film that I am proud to have as part of my collection.
Here is my break down of the movie for those of you that even want to hear my two cents :-)
Broken down on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the highest duh!)
Visually - 10 Audio - 8 Acting - 6 (I would have given it an 8 but I couldn't stomach the wife Yolanda. How she got cast I'll never know!) Soundtrack - 10 Movie Trailer - 8
... and that's my two cents... Take it or leave it!

You got Virginia Beach hustler Tommy that gets panic attacks caused by his line of work of selling drugs. His only choices are to quit what he is doing or to contiune suffering panic attacks. Tommy chooses to quit selling drugs. His boss Detroit Mike suffers from adandonment and trust issues. If a street soldier wants out of his drug crew or he feels he can't trust them they end up being killed. It could be a shooting, strangling, or beating. Detroit Mike is a border line serial killer.
Tommy escapes a Detroit Mike's gunmen. He flees to sunny California with his wife that he madly loves. He connects with his criminal cousin Carmelo who has insecurity issues. To make up for it he likes to shoot people. With no job skills Tommy backslides into selling drugs with Carmelo.
It's a really good urban story of pain and suffering.

If your a fan of underground hip hop then you may really enjoy this movie. Honestly the movie was a bit too hardcore and violent for my tastes but my boyfriend enjoyed it. Maybe even a bit too much! With the scenes of women half naked and what not.
But all in all I would say it was a decent flick for the gangster genre. I won't give away too much of the story but it may seem a bit cliché at first. But it definitely had some twists and turns that keeps you watching. I would not put it at the level of boyz in the hood or juice but sometimes it's nice to be able to see these "grimey" hood movies.
I must agree with the other posters that the soundtrack was definitely bumping as well! A lot of good non-commercial hip hop and reggeaton. It featured underground artists like Custom Made Recordings, Ayreon The Don, Malice & Da Commission and others. Definitely worth checking out as a rental in my opinion.

For a urban B movie this DVD took off. The story is nothing new about a drug dealer wanting to get out of the business after some hardcore stuff happens to them or a loved one. What made Consignment jump was the truths laced in the story if you know what's up or been there. Didn't have the smell of the fake wannabe gangster crap shown I seen in a car load of urban movies. This one showed what's really moving with drug murders and sex. It goes down for sure. Plenty of action. I gotta give it up on the nudity. What's a gangster movie with out T & A???? They got a Mexcian dame with a banging body working a striptease for some hustlers. It's off the chain!! I have to throw in with the other reviewer Coco about the soundtrack. It's tight. Underground hip hop tracks from Custom Made Recordings and Ayreon The Don pumped the vibe. If you want street action check this one out. Ain't on the level with Menace II Society or Paid In Full. You do get a slick B movie that brings it. I bought this mother for the strip show alone.

- CuriosidadesThe role of "Yolanda" was recast 5 times leading up to principal photography. Half way through the first day of shooting actress #5 was released from Consignment. Casting Director and Production Coordinator Stream Gardner had to step in immediately becoming the 6th overall "Yolanda" to take the role.
