Real people in real situations taking advice from a professional. Most of the time! Great show with novice house flippers making mistakes and good decisions and we get to watch along with them.
I really enjoy watching Tarek 101. The only thing that I didn't like was too much personal with him and heather. It seems like he is bring her in way too much and it takes away from the show of renovations and working with the flippers.
Some of these people seem to use credit cards, most give up their jobs, don't look like they ever saw a flipping show in their life. Have never down physical labor. No matter how underwater they are they all make a profit at the end. I think one show at the end said the house sold then fell through but no update and was considered a success.
Just like flip or flop, you never see flops, has anyone out there tried to hire contracters to do a simple job? For instance I got bids on replacing a 4x6 foot piece of drywall no texture, the contactors wanted $800 one guy after I said your too expensive said $500 I told him to take a walk. I did it for $10. The prices quoted in these shows for work are unrealistic.
10k for a roof how many decades ago does that price sound like. Show us real costs for example for2x4s now adays. Repairing a small roof damage would have cost me at least $1000 not a couple $100

I was a big fan of the original "Flip or Flop" with Tarek and Christina, but was pretty doubtful about this show. After watching most episodes, I have to admit that I have mixed feelings.
As a former IT software development manager and certified project manager, most of the advice Tarek provides is excellent. Multitasking, pushing contractors hard, negotiating costs and change orders and setting firm delivery dates with penalties is great advice. Perhaps it's my background, but this seems like common sense to me.
Unfortunately, most of the flippers on this show don't seem to have a clue. They don't listen to Tarek, they make major unplanned changes without considering the implications and none of them seem to be able to keep contractors in line.
Perhaps this is the intent of the show. Unfortunately, I think it often comes across as new flippers are incompetent, headstrong morons that think they know better than a highly experienced professional.
I know that HGTV has to make the show interesting, but I think the underlying vibe is that most new flippers are idiots. This is just my opinion.
Nonetheless, I still enjoy the show. Tarek is a skilled leader and mentor, and his advice is amazing. I'll continue to watch and see how the show progresses.

I always did like Tarek. From day one. My husband and I are not flippers, but we've done everything on our own on our three homes that we've had in our 42 year marriage. So I know a lot of stuff I really didn't want to know. So I can relate to talk when I see the look of frustration on his face when they do not follow his advice. We are very careful with our money. And I'm on pins and needles until the end of the show to see what happens to these poor people. He's a straight shooter. He's built a wonderful business through his hard work. Very admirable from my point of view and the remodeling of our houses that we've gone through.
