Makeup FX creator Jeremy Selenfriend (pictured left) has been all over the East Coast horror scene these days; when he’s not slinging the blood and prosthetics on features such as Blood Night: The Legend Of Mary Hatchet and Mold! (see our recent item on that one here), he’s contributing to the current explosion of horrific short films. Selenfriend shared some photos and observations on his latest projects, which you can see below.
The first pic is from the horror/comedy Aversion, from director Gf Roberts, who also scripted with Ted Spencer. “We shot that last year, and they’re just finishing it up,” Selenfriend tells us. “It’s one of the first movies I’ve done in a very long time that was shot on film, and it has a great look to it. Indie horrormeister David R. Williams of Red Scream Films gave Fango the word that he’s releasing five fright features on DVD this spring under the Medicine Show Cinema banner. This newly formed distribution outfit is a collaboration between First Dark, Iron Halo Productions and Calabi-Yau Films.
“We specialize in neo-grindhouse, post-Splatterpunk, B-movie art-house and erotic-grotesque feature films,” Williams tells Fango, “distributing to the domestic and international home entertainment markets. We’re independent filmmakers with strong backgrounds in movie marketing and acquisition, and we’re actively seeking titles to add to our library. We’re not interested in the type of cookie-cutter, paint-by-numbers horror films currently cluttering theater screens and DVD shelves; we want films that push the boundaries, that take viewers to the edge and beyond, that reject feel-good endings and that don’t conform to any mold.”
Williams and co. are aiming to issue five-10 films this year,...
