Joe Lycett's Got Your Back

A funny watch for a little giggle and to unwind and does good for consumer rights. I would recommend :)

Watching Series 2 which is an hour long which it should of been in series 1.. Half hour was too short to get two points across.. Comedy sketches and Consumer stories. Joe is brilliant host for this too and his co hosts are great too. Joe final words are powerful too.

The show reminds me of John Oliver but Joe Lycett focuses on consumer rights issues. He picks an issue that revolves around a particular company and focuses on one of the many victims that have been negatively impacted. These victims are ordinary people who watch his show. On the show he often manages to help them out.

I love the bounds that he is willing to go to shame these companies, I imagine he has gotten alot of disdain from large companies but as you can see from his demeanour, it doesn't bother him. He has great back and forths with all his guest and his co-host, along with thorough research and great comedic commentary.

Consumer rights shows are hardly riveting telly - but Joe Lycett is one of the most strangely charismatic and right-on comedians of recent years and his mix of sass, wild confidence and genuine irritation make this a solid watch.

The first series is quite a bit sharper than the second and third as they decided the format needed to be longer (it doesn't), that he needed more comedian helpers (he didn't). Further to that, and I imagine as a result of the pandemic, the final episode of the second series is given over to a flaccid clipshow which was weirdly marketed as containing "behind the scenes and new material" and doesn't at all. The irony in a consumer rights show failing to live up to their own marketing isn't lost on me SO I'M GOING TO WRITE A STRONGLY WORDED BUT DEEPLY SARCASTIC LETTER (I won't).

At its best however Joe Lycett's Got Your Back is a long overdue and deftly silly confrontation of the real villains within contemporary society (rogue letting agents, indifferent corporations and exploitative middle-men) which is occasionally extraordinarily satisfying even long into the third series.

Joe Lycetts got your back is a show about confronting consumer rights issues whilst being entertaining and funny throughout. Joe Lycett is charasmatic, funny and serious in equal measure and bounces some fantastic comedic timing between himself and Mark, his Co host.

The irony of a mindless reviewer saying the show is mindless is hilarious. Well done Mark, 10 out of 10.
