Sweater weather is coming — and so is another Mayday Parade release. The pop-punkers have announced, Sad, the second installment of their 20th anniversary album trilogy, out Oct. 3. The band also shared reflective rocker, “Under My Sweater,” alongside a new music video.

“It’s difficult to sing about a sweater without invoking Weezer, but that’s part of what I love about this song,” Derek Sanders said in a statement. With its melancholy riffs and Nineties-inspired percussion, Sanders described the song as “a part of old school nostalgic emo” but with a modern twist.

It was a blood bath at the beach house and things quickly went from bad to worse. Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) got off lucky with an injured foot but Liam (Scott Clifton) and Luna (Lisa Yamada) didn’t fare so well. Luna laid unconscious and unattended to while Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) struggled to keep Liam alive while waiting for help.

Thankfully, they succeeded in keeping Liam breathing…and Luna was still alive when the paramedics showed up too. Finn rescued Ms. Dylan (Sydney Bullock) from the closet and the sweet teacher was beside herself to see the destruction “Sunshine” caused. All the while, the police bagged the gun and started asking all the tough questions.

It’s a year of great change for the Industry Days program of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. This year, the program will run for longer — between July 6-9, adding an extra day — and have a sharper focus on Central Europe, including an update to its Eastern Promises platform. Another key change includes the broadening of the program’s scope to include the small screen, with a series of activities dedicated to series development.

The Karlovy Vary Film Festival’s Industry Days program, which runs July 6 to 9, has undergone a revamp and is a day longer than in previous years.

The program will have a sharpened focus on Central European co-production, and the Eastern Promises platform has undergone an update. Also, it has broadened its scope with new presentations and events dedicated to the small-screen and series development. The festival has introduced a Pop-Up Series Incubator featuring five original European series.

Sathyan Anthikad, a master of heartfelt emotional dramas, has long been an icon in Malayalam cinema for creating such impactful films. Joan Benedict Steiger, who was part of the original stock company for Candid Camera and later became the wife of actor Rod Steiger, died June 24 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from a stroke. She was 96.

Her death was announced by a family spokesperson.

As Joan Benedict, she got her start on TV during the medium’s early days, appearing in the 1950s on Candid Camera and The Steve Allen Show. She would go on to score dozens of TV credits with guest appearances in the 1970s on such series as The Smith Family, Apple’s Way, The Incredible Hulk and Fantasy Island, among others.

Later TV and film credits include The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington, Hotel, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill and Dollhouse. She recurred on soap General Hospital as the character Edith Fairchild, and also appeared in Days of Our Lives and Capitol.

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival’s Eastern Promises industry section and film market, focusing on works in progress or development handed out its awards Tuesday evening.

Kviff Eastern Promises describes its mission as “bridging the gap between talented filmmakers and their potential partners, festivals and audiences.” The awards are open for producers and directors from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and North Africa introducing new films that will premiere after the Karlovy Vary festival.

This year, 39 projects competed for awards with a total value of 110,000 euros ($118,000) in three programs: Works in Progress, Works in Development – Feature Launch and First Cut+.

Secret Invasion director Ali Selim explained why less is more with the Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries as the show's episodes gradually shortened throughout the season.

Speaking with Variety, Selim said the shorter episodes were a part of his "practical evolution" of the show and its story, with Episode 6, "Home" clocking in at less than 40 minutes to round out the Disney+ series, diverting from the typical jam-packed show closer. "It's really just practical exploration and the practical evolution of a story," Selim said. "It's written one way; actors start performing it, and it becomes something slightly different; and when you start filming the performances, it becomes something slightly different; and then when you go to edit it, you realign yourself."

In "Home," the series finale of the Disney+ miniseries Secret Invasion, it is revealed that The Harvest contains the DNA of 19 superpowered characters/creatures: Abomination, Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, the Chitauri, Corvus Glaive, Drax, Ebony Maw, Gamora, Ghost, Hulk, Korg, Mantis, the Outriders, Proxima Midnight, Thanos, Thor, Valkyrie and the Winter Soldier. In the episode, Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) took The Harvest from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and combined it with the samples previously obtained by the Skrulls -- Cull Obsidian, Groot, Extremis and Frost Beast -- to level up his Super Skrull abilities. Unbeknownst to Gravik, Nick Fury was Talos' daughter G'iah in disguise, meaning that she also received the new Super Skrull abilities.

Pamela Blair, who originated the role of the surgically enhanced Valerie Clark in the Broadway smash A Chorus Line, died Sunday at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, following a lengthy illness. She was 73.

Her death was reported by friends on social media, including her A Chorus Line co-star Baayork Lee. “I am very sad to say my Sagittarian sister Pam Blair has gone to play with her [A Chorus Line] colleagues among the clouds,” wrote Lee in a Facebook post. Marvel’s alien infiltration thriller is sprinting toward its Episode 6 finale next Wednesday, July 26, bringing the conflict between the Skrulls and humans to a new inflection point.

While Hulu often streams Disney+ shows after a varying window of time, Secret Invasion’s debut on the service marks the first time a Disney+ original series is migrating to the platform. The process of bringing Secret Invasion to Hulu comes ahead of the service integrating into Disney+ as part of a “one-app” initiative. The two streamers could merge as soon as the end of this year.

The Skrulls are an alien race who can perfectly simulate any human being at will.
