Reunited drum and bass act Pendulum have announced their first new full-length album in 15 years, Inertia, arriving August 22nd. The band also offered up the single “Save the Cat.”
Since reuniting, Pendulum have showcased a more metal-tinged drum and bass sound across EPs released in 2021 and 2023, and “Save the Cat” is another heavy, aggressive cut. Singer Rob Swire goes full screamo on the vocals, and Pendulum’s signature breakbeat assault is crushed and gnarled into an electro-industrial squall.
“It was written during a period of self-questioning and frustration,” Swire said of the single in a press release, which states that the song came “in the wake of two breakups — one that unraveled slowly over time, and another that hit without warning.”
Added Swire, “Love felt like something I didn’t fully trust myself with anymore.”
Swire co-produced Inertia alongside Owen Charles, with recording at Pendulum’s London Studio. The album...

Good Omens season 3 has been given the green light by Amazon Prime Video, but the final season is going to be very different. Good Omens is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and follows the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant), who've developed a unique relationship over the centuries they've spent on Earth. Instead of following their ordained mission, the duo puts their differences aside to set out to stop the end of the world.
Good Omens season 1 was based on the novel, and it was speculated that season 2 was based on a sequel that was never published. However, Gaiman has since said that the planned sequel was not the second season, and it instead would be used for Good Omens season 3. It's unclear where these plans currently stand, and the sexual assault allegations against Gaiman have caused the scribe to step away from the project.

Supernatural has shown many versions of Sam Winchesters over the years, with 15 seasons providing ample time to develop character arcs in more than one continuity. There is a Supernatural multiverse, which is one of the reasons there is more than one version of Sam in the show's lore. Supernatural first aired in 2005 and ran for 15 successful seasons before ending in 2020. Both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki started the show when they were in their 20s and essentially grew up on-screen, so it would make sense for Supernatural to implement a few changes as time went on.
One of the biggest changes in Supernatural is arguably Sam Winchesters personality over the years, as he morphed from a law student searching for his father to a world-saving God killer alongside his brother in season 15. With multiple deaths, visits to Hell, and countless possessions, the Winchester brothers have been through the wringer throughout Supernatural.

Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Abu Dhabi are joining forces once again for the upcoming horror movie Archangel, with THR reporting that Conor Leslie (“Titans”) will star.
Bryan Edward Hill wrote the script and directed the upcoming film. Archangel centers on a privately funded organization researching the possibility of life after death.
“It is targeted by an ancient entity that wants to keep mankind from understanding the true nature of the supernatural.”
Greg Hovanessian (Cardinal), Alyshia Ochse (True Detective), Azure Parsons (The Astronauts Wives Club) and Trevor Riley (Animal Kingdom) also star.
Archangel will have a presence at San Diego Comic Con next week, and The Hollywood Reporter notes that Bryan Edward Hill will expand the world of the movie with a graphic novel.

Conor Leslie, who played Donna Troy on DC show Titans, is starring in Archangel, a horror thriller from comic book and screenwriter Bryan Edward Hill.
Hill, who was a writer and supervising producer on Titans, is making his directorial debut with the movie, which has now wrapped after shooting under the radar. It will be unveiled at next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, with Hill and Leslie in attendance.
Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Abu Dhabi are behind the feature, and suggests the emergence of a new horror powerhouse. Their two previous productions included Watcher, the thriller directed by Chloe Okuno that starred Maika Monroe, and the microbudget Late Night with the Devil, the horror hit which became IFC Films’ highest-grossing opening weekend ever and topped $10 million domestically.

Globoplay, the freemium streaming service of Brazilian media giant Globo, has renewed flagship series “Dissident Archangel” for a fourth season as Latin America’s biggest local streamer is hitting pay dust forging franchises of its own making, led by stylish crime action thrillers which question their own brutality.
“Sessão de Terapia,” Brazil’s equivalent of “In Treatment,” both re-versioning Israeli original “BeTipul,” has also been re-upped for a sixth season.
The renewals come after acclaimed ER drama “Under Pressure,” screened at Toronto, ran to five instalments over 2017-22; “The Others” returns this August and “Rensga Hits!” later this year, with a third season completing production.
Brazil’s First ‘Afroverso’: ‘Anti-Kidnapping Unit,’ ‘Dissident Archangel,’ ‘The Game’

Guy Maddin’s sophomore feature, Archangel, takes place in a fantastical crossroads of history, in a hamlet in Russia so remote that the twin shocks of World War I and the Bolshevik Revolution have only just reached town limits in 1919. Its plot—of a love triangle between a traumatized WWI veteran (Kyle McCulloch), the woman (Kathy Marykuca) he believes is his dead wife, and her own amnesiac husband (Ari Cohen)—offers something of a précis of narrative tropes and themes that would pervade Maddin’s cinema. There’s the juxtaposition of archaic film form with more risqué sexual exhibition, the slipperiness of memory, and a notion of projection heavily indebted to Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo.
Nonetheless, Archangel feels more like a repository of references to the cinema of a hundred years ago than something fully imbued with Maddin’s signature idiosyncrasy. Verohnka, for one, habitually wears a spiky, chintzy crown...

The X-Men movie franchise missed opportunities with potential storylines, such as the unfulfilled tease of the iconic villain Mister Sinister. The underwhelming portrayal of characters like Archangel, Kitty Pryde, and Bishop failed to capture the emotional depth and narrative importance from the comics. Characters like Gambit, Rogue, and Jubilee were wasted, with brief appearances that did not do justice to their potential and iconic status in the X-Men franchise.
The X-Men movie franchise proffered numerous potential storylines which it subsequently wasted completely. The X-Men franchise timeline boasts 13 movies, spanning the original trilogy, the prequel movies, and several spin-offs. Despite this wealth of material, the franchise still missed some essential opportunities, which will never be addressed.
Fox's X-Men franchise has officially concluded after Disney's acquisition of Fox. The final remnant, 2024's Deadpool 3, is being folded into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bridging the two franchises. With Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine,...

Recently, the masterminds behind reggaeton's biggest stars and hitmakers have been coming into their own as artists. Last year, music producer Dímelo Flow released his debut album, "Always Dream." In June, producer Tainy also dropped his debut album, "Data." And now, Sky Rompiendo (real name Alejandro Ramírez Suárez) - one of the most in-demand Latin music producers of the past decade and the genius behind artists like J Balvin, Karol G, Maluma, and Feid - is shifting his focus from working behind the scenes to creating his own record. It's a move that has been long in the making, but for Rompiendo, the timing has been everything.
"I was inspired by all these producers like Pharrell, Timbaland, and Scott Storch - that whole movement of them eventually putting their faces up front and being more present in the scene versus not just always being behind the scenes," Rompiendo tells Popsugar.

At this point, Bad Bunny's gender fluidity is pretty much common knowledge. The rapper has made a career out of upending rigid gender constructs and transcending generationally held prejudices about what it means to be a man. So when he was announced as the VMAs' artist of the year to a small crowd at my local bar, even the casual, non-Latinxs had some inkling of what the 28-year-old Puerto Rican artist has come to represent.
But rather than taking the stage to accept his award in the Spanglish that has become something of a trademark, Bad Bunny made us anticipate. When Bad Bunny finally took the stage, it was through the open doors of a chapel, with an unknown bride in his arms. As the opening chords of his hit song "Tití Me Preguntó" played,...

International TV industry veteran Justin Bodle has died at his home in the South of France. The British executive was a well-known figure on the international TV circuit having been in the business for over three decades. Bodle suffered a brain hemorrhage Tuesday.
Having served in the British army, Bodle then worked in production, distribution and advertising in a varied career. During a stint in program sales at Hit Entertainment, he sold “The Muppet Show” and the Jim Henson catalog internationally. He is credited with structuring the first program barter deal on British television, placing “The Muppet Show” on Super Channel in 1987.
Bodle started out at ITV franchise company Thames Television, selling airtime to advertisers, before going on to join Peter Orton’s Hit. In the mid-1990s he formed his own production and distribution business, Power Television. He sold the business and then briefly bought it back, before shifting to full-time producing.

The Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences hosted the 61st edition of their Ariel Awards on Monday evening, where Alfonso Cuarón’s “Roma” and Alejandra Márquez Abella’s “The Good Girls” stood out among the winners.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about Cuarón’s “Roma” scooping best picture is that it’s only the second of his films to win an Ariel award, and the first to be nominated for best picture. In 1992 “Sólo con Tu Pareja” was nominated for best first work and screenplay, and won best original story. In 2001 he chose not to submit his Oscar-nominated classic “Y tu mamá también” in protest at the Academy’s voting practices.
By the end of the Monday evening however, “Roma” netted 10 prizes, including best director, supporting actress, photography, screenplay, editing, sound, art design, visual effects and special effects to go along with the best picture prize.

“You’re living the dream, Dp!”
In a film full of highlights and standout moments, Karan Soni’s Dopinder arguably stood head and shoulders above the rest as Deadpool‘s true breakout star.
Back in 2016, Dopinder was little more than a vengeful taxi driver who befriends the Merc With a Mouth once the bullets start flying, and it was the at-times effortless chemistry between Soni and Ryan Reynolds that had fans falling in love with Dopinder. He’s since gone on to become the Merc’s trusty getaway driver, of course, and that’s exactly where things pick up in Deadpool 2, the David Leitch-directed sequel that’s now on the verge of its primetime release on May 18th.
Ahead of that, though, Fox is ramping up the marketing machine and have today delivered a brand new promo which you can watch up above. Unsurprisingly, it places the spotlight on the aforementioned Dopinder,...

You’ve heard about Dawn of Justice, but what about the dawn of the X-Force?
Granted, that’s not the official title of Fox and David Leitch’s Deadpool sequel, but considering how Wade Wilson is about to assemble a posse of superpowered mutants, each more bizarre and quirky than the last, ‘Deadpool 2: Dawn of the X-Force’ would be a pretty apt title for what is undoubtedly the second must-see comic book movie of 2018 after Avengers: Infinity War.
But of course, this is just the beginning of the aforementioned team, as the upcoming sequel will likely act as something of a springboard as Fox begins to expand its mutant universe. An expansion that will, of course, include, Drew Goddard’s X-Force. Pre-production is just now getting underway on the ensemble movie ahead of its October start date, by which point Goddard and his team will be directing a “Black Ops...

Infinity War actor Josh Brolin isn’t the only one wholly committed to Fox’s X-Men franchise – That Hashtag Show brings word today that Zazie Beetz will reprise the role of Domino for X-Force, the Drew Goddard team-up movie that is said to be targeting a production start on October 1st.
Indeed, much like Brolin before her, Beetz has reportedly signed a three-picture deal with Fox, so news that her Domino will be returning for X-Force shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Pre-production is just now getting underway on the ensemble movie ahead of its October start date, by which point Goddard and his team will be directing a “Black Ops force of down and dirty mutant warriors who are far more ruthless than their X-Men counterparts.” Yikes.
Beyond that, details are scarce; all we know for sure is that Deadpool 2 will likely act as something of...

He introduced readers to Hap and Leonard and took us to the drive-in, but thanks to the film adaptation of his 1994 novella, writer Joe R. Lansdale is known by many for resurrecting Elvis, who recently returned in a Bubba Ho-Tep prequel novella by Lansdale. Now, the legendary author is teaming up with Idw Publishing to bring The King back to life in Bubba Ho-Tep and the Cosmic Blood-Suckers, a new comic book series adaptation premiering this March:
Press Release: San Diego, CA – Hail to the King, baby! Prior to the events of the original Bubba Ho-Tep cult story, Elvis was enlisted by President Nixon to defeat an alien threat unlike anything he’s faced before. Idw and award-winning writer Joe R. We first told you back in July about Syfy giving the green light to the pilot Dominion, based on characters in the 2010 film Legion. Back then we had little to go on besides a sketchy paragraph about it being set 25 years in the future after an epic war between an army of angels and humankind.
Now we have more, including not only the casting of three major characters (at least two of whom are likely familiar to you) but a lot more in the way of plot and character detail.
Although I’m completely enthusiastic and encouraging about this pilot, the fact that one of the actors, Christopher Egan, was also cast in the pilot Gothica as Dorian Gray proves that casting a pilot by no means guarantees its pickup to series.
You have been warned; get excited about this, but don’t fall in love just yet:

The name of James Christopher's and Chris Copple's production company couldn't sound pretentious. Christopher and Copple were halfway through production on their first feature-length film Littlefield when, after a night of beer drinking, the name Twitchy Dolphin Flix surfaced and was chosen.
Christopher is now the company's president and writer/director, and Copple the creative director and director of photography. From their first feature-length film Funny Books to the company's upcoming eighth film 3 References, their business partnership is going strong.
The unlikely duo met as radio-television-film students at The University of Texas at Austin. Christopher had enrolled at Ut after spending seven years in the U.S. Army. He and Copple shared disinterest in their summer digital documentary class, which led to their collaboration on the short film Strike Team Archangel, an adaptation of Christopher's 26-page script. Over the 2.5 days of filming the short Strike Team Archangel, Christopher...

Exclusive: Fox 2000 and Chernin Entertainment have teamed on a deal for screen rights to the upcoming Robert Harris novel The Fear Index, a thriller Knopf will publish in January in the Us after a September UK release. The pic will be produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping. I'd initially heard that director Paul Greengrass might be involved, but his reps say that while he and the author go back to their BBC days, the filmmaker isn't part of this deal. The thriller involves a scientist who figures out how to use a revolutionary system of computer algorithms to trade on the world's financial markets. His hedge fund, which is built around the standard measure of market volatility--called the Fear Index--reaps huge returns. Late one night while he's asleep with his wife in their house beside Lake Geneva, an intruder awakens them. Over the course of a day,...

The Last Airbender
Opens: July 2nd 2010
Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.
Analysis: It has been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan, who started it as a household name with the label of a modern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".
Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit...
