Hey, "NCIS: Los Angeles" fans. We are back with another new spoiler article for you guys. This time, we'll be going over the 10th episode of this current season 11, which is due out next week. Thanks to the wonderful CBS folks, we do have a new teaser description for the main plotline for episode 10. This comes via their episode 10 press release. So, let's get into it. For starters, the official title for episode 10 is called, "Mother." It sounds like episode 10 will possibly feature some very interesting, super intense, dramatic and action-filled scenes. In the new episode 10, a guest character named Akhos Laos will show up on the scene. He is a former black ops agent that was originally recruited by Hetty Lange. Apparently, Akhos did not appreciate something that went down in the past because he will be back to seek out revenge against Hetty for introducing him to this way of life.

I’ve been making 16mm durational urban landscape voiceover films, slowly but surely, since the late ‘90s. My short film Blue Diary premiered at the Berlinale in 1998. My two features, The Joy of Life (2005) and The Royal Road (2015) both premiered in the prestigious New Frontiers section at the Sundance Film Festival and have been as wildly successful as experimental films can be. Which is to say, they remain fairly obscure. My small but enthusiastic fan-base frequently asks me for recommendations of films that are similar to my own in terms of incorporating durational landscapes and voiceover and a meditative pace. While it is certainly one of the smallest subgenres in the realm of filmmaking, here are a handful of excellent landscape cinema examples by the practitioners I know best. I confess that my expertise here is limited and hope that the learned Mubi community will chime in with additions in the comments field below.

But after spending four hours in 'Prison Town'—long synonymous far and wide with incarceration—I was sad to leave; I'll be glad one day to return. Fortunately, such matters are questions of personal choice. Many of the area's residents, including those not serving custodial sentences, have little realistic option but to remain—trapped by personal, social and/or economic circumstances that can feel as confining as any 6-by-8 cell. "Joliet, or "J-Town", is racially diverse and is known as a crime-ridden city, although the area has shown much improvement since the 1990's... America Lost and Found is a three film retrospective on Mubi of Peter Bo Rappmund's work. Psychohydrography (2010) starts playing on January 12, 2016, with Tectonics (2012) starting January 17 in the Us and 19th elsewhere, and Vulgar Fractions (2012) on January 26.PsychohydrographyAlong with an array of field recordings and non-diegetic aural effects, filmmaker Peter Bo Rappmund delicately integrates the sound of a skipping turntable needle at key junctures of his first feature, Psychohydrography (2010). Inspired by William Basinski’s The Disintegration Loops—a 4-disc collection of tape loops from the early-80s which slowly deteriorated in real-time as the experimental composer attempted to transfer the recordings from analog to digital storage space in September 2001—the film’s unique sonic accompaniment functions in these moments as both quasi-score and thematic augmentation to what can generally be described as an observational landscape film. The correlations between Basinski’s opus, now synonymous with the tragedy of 9/11, and Rappmund...

Jenni Olson begins The Royal Road, her latest emotional excavation of Hollywood nostalgia via Benning-esque 16mm landscape portraiture, by self-referentially quoting Michel Chion on the shadowy pretext of off screen voiceover after reflecting in her own dryly articulated voiceover on the monologue that opens Billy Wilder’s classic allegory of broken La dreams, Sunset Boulevard. Though Olson’s film revolves around another stretch of California highway, the 600-mile El Camino Real strip, the cinematic reference leads us down a winding poetic path on which Hollywood history, the neglected record of the Mexican American War and Olson’s own unrequited romantic pursuits come together with the same sort of mannered meditation that won her San Francisco Film Critics Circle’s Marlon Riggs Award for The Joy of Life back in 2005.

Each year, the Library of Congress selects 25 films to be named to the National Film Registry, a proclamation of commitment to preserving the chosen pictures for all time. They can be big studio pictures or experimental short films, goofball comedies or poetic meditations on life. Spanning the years 1913-2004, the 25 films to be added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry for 2014 include Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby, Arthur Penn’s Little Big Man, John Hughes’ Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and the Coen brothers’ The Big Lebowski. The annual selection helps to ensure that the movies will be preserved for all time. This year’s list brings the number of films in the registry to 650.
Also on the list are John Lasseter’s 1986 animated film, Luxo Jr; the original Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder; and Howard Hawks’ classic 1959 Western Rio Bravo. Documentaries and silent films also make up part of the selection which represents titles that are “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant; they must also each be at least 10 years old. With so few events during which to premiere new and important avant-garde films in North America—among them, the recently wrapped Wavelengths section of the Toronto International Film Festival, the Ann Arbor Film Fest, and the San Francisco Cinematheque's Crossroads series—the shift that has occurred at this year's New York Film Festival is one well worth noting. This weekend, the inaugural Projects program will debut. Previously known as "Views from the Avant-Garde" and programmed by Mark McElhatten and Gavin Smith (though last year's titanic program was done by McElhatten alone), this sidebar more akin to a festival-inside-a-festival of film and video works has been re-named "Projections" and in its first year is programmed by a returned Smith, Film Society of Lincoln Center's Director of Programming Dennis Lim, and Aily Nash.

The film Million Dollar Arm is a family-friendly drama that is based on the real-life story of the first Indian athletes to become involved with any major American sports franchise. The film was directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Tom McCarthy. Neither gentleman has a huge list of credits to their respective professions but what they do have is largely decent quality and have latched onto a real sports underdog story here that is produced by Disney.
The story involves a down and out sports agent, J. B. Bernstein (Jon Hamm), who gets the desperate yet brilliant idea to go to India and scout for pitching prospects. The plan is to develop the winners of a pitching contest/reality show, called Million Dollar Arm, and sign them for a Major League Baseball deal. Disney’s Million Dollar Arm might not bat 1000, but it’s certainly a high hitter that will leave you entertained and inspired.
Million Dollar Arm tells the true story of sports agent Jb Bernstein (Jon Hamm). With his career going south he takes a shot in the dark and travels to India in the hopes of finding a cricket pitcher with Mlb potential by holding a contest called “The Million Dollar Arm.” After discovering two young athletes with potential, Dinesh (Madhur Mittal) and Rinku (Suraj Sharma), he brings them back to the Los Angeles to begin training for a Mlb tryout. Things, however, don’t always go according to plan. The boys have never lived outside of their small village, so Jb is forced to take them in and care for them, shaking up his bachelor lifestyle. With the help of his guest house tenant Brenda (Lake Bell), the boys learn the fundamentals of baseball,...

Baseball season is upon us, and so is Disney’s new homerun Million Dollar Arm, which opens this Friday. Recently, Wamg attended a press day where star (and fellow St. Louis Cardinals fan) Jon Hamm joined co-star Lake Bell along with real-life inspirations for the film Jb Bernstein and Rinku Singh to talk about the new summer baseball flick in a small press conference. Also participating were producers Gordon Gray and Joe Roth. Check it out below.
Based on a true story, sports agent Jb Bernstein (Jon Hamm) finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, Jb travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.

Sundance just ended, and we are already preparing for the next big film festival, South By Southwest. Not too long ago, the festival announced a few of the films premiering this year, but now they’ve announced the main slate. The midnight selections and some inevitable late-breaking additions are still to be announced, but this should be more than enough to get you excited. Along with many World Premieres, and Sundance favorites like Richard Linklater’s Boyhood and Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2, the line up also includes an anniversary screening of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and an extended Q&A screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel with Wes Anderson. SXSW 2014 runs March 7 through 15 in Austin, Texas. Check out the line up after the jump.

After announcing earlier this month that Jon Favreau’s Chef and the Veronica Mars movie will be making their world debuts at SXSW this year, the festival has revealed its full line-up, including further very promising world premieres, alongside appearances from some of the year’s most high-profile films.
The Midnight programme will be announced early next month, along with the Shorts line-up, and the complete Conference slate a little later as well.
Led by Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, Nicholas Stoller’s anticipated R-rated comedy, Neighbors, will be making its world debut at the festival, notably marked out as a ‘work-in-progress’ ahead of its theatrical release in May.
David Gordon Green’s acclaimed Joe will make its Us premiere, having bowed at Venice and then Toronto last year. Early reviews have Nicolas Cage giving one of the finest performances of his career, with Tye Sheridan (Mud) excellent alongside him.

Not sure if there is a Short Term 12 equivalent in this year’s Narrative Feature Comp, but on paper SXSW programmers are serving up a mean (and the usual lean group of 8 out of a whopping 1,324 film entries) for the upcoming competitiuon of eight which includes notable entries (that we’ve been tracking for a good time now) such as Zachary Wigon’s The Heart Machine, John Magary’s The Mend, Leah Meyerhoff’s I Believe in Unicorns and Lawrence Michael Levine’s Wild Canaries. Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated docs of the year, on the non-fiction side we find Margaret Brown’s The Great Invisible. Below you’ll find a breakdown of the other sections (notable world preems in We’ll Never Have Paris and Faults (see Mary Elizabeth Winstead above), some Sundance items with Texan connections and other nuggets.

Jon Hamm stars as sports agent Jb Bernstein in the first trailer and poster for Million Dollar Arm. (via Grantland).
Disney will release the film on May 16, 2014.
Based on a true story, Disney’s Million Dollar Arm follows Jb Bernstein, a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors.
He and his partner Aash (Aasif Mandvi) will have to close their business down for good if Jb doesn’t come up with something fast. Late one night, while watching cricket being played in India on TV, Jb comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation? Setting off for Mumbai with nothing but a gifted but cantankerous scout (Alan Arkin) in tow, Jb stages a televised, nationwide competition called “Million Dollar Arm” where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two 18-year-old finalists, Rinku and Dinesh (Suraj Sharma,...

As a woman, growing out a buzz cut isn't easy -- just ask Anne Hathaway, Demi Moore and Natalie Portman. But it looks like Charlize Theron is taking a cue from fellow Hollywood blondes Michelle Williams and Carey Mulligan when it comes to her transitional hair maintenance.
Theron has had her decidedly short 'do for a while now -- she buzzed it for a movie role back in June 2012 -- but the actress appears to be in the growing-out phase, debuting bangs during a United Nations meeting today. As her hair has gotten slightly longer, she's been able to change it up from the spikey buzz to the pushed-back faux hawk to this new Miley-esque style, complete with swoopy bangs. (Though, like we said, we think she's got more of a Williams/Mulligan blonde pixie vibe going on now.)
So we think it's safe to say: Bye-bye, Charlize's buzz cut!
