The Cramp Twins is best described as a warped view on adolescent life. Lucien and Waye are at each others throats constantly yet still remain brothers at arms when the heat is on from other sources. Their mother is a clean freak, and dad is a cowboy nut, so no wonder they have issues! The show can drag at times, and is not always side splittingly funny, but the overall effect is wonderful. Speaking as a twin I can relate to the Cramp's various troubles. If nothing else the Cramp Twins will leave you giggling, and if you are up to the oddity it can leave you rolling on the floor.
Don't know why I liked this show. Maybe because of the character Wayne Cramp. He reminds me of myself. Though he's a twin, I like that he looks nothing like his brother Lucien Cramp nor his family. I like Wayne Cramp is purple-looking. He's my favourite character. I hate the character Wendy Winkle who sadly has a huge crush on Wayne. I don't want them two together. Wayne gladly hates Wendy an awful lot. The tv series would've been better had Wendy had nothing to do with Wayne. Wayne is a boy that should be left alone. Wayne needs a girlfriend but not Joanne ;) He's a loner and has no friends apart from this Dirty Joe who you can't see for some reason. Why? It didn't matter, however. Looks like Wayne's only friend. I liked that Wayne has no friends, but it would've been better if he had. Wayne is cool and he "eats pain for breakfast" ;) His brother, Lucien, I like also and has friends though more would've been better. Tony needed to be tall. For some reason, he is short. I liked how their mother, Lucien and Wayne, is obsessed with being "clean". I like their father too who has a cool job as a Salesman selling soap products :) I only wished their family were rich, but not like the Winkles. Wayne Cramp needed a few things like tv in his room, a gaming console and satellite along with all this junk :) I like the junkyard where Wayne is usually at. I like the Swamp. How huge is it? Hmm... Are the Winkle family Swamp people? It's still unclear, but I think they are, and just Wendy Winkle has no idea that she is in fact "Swamp". I'm laughing at her, and "they" would too if she is a Swamp folk. She hates the Swamp. Wendy is butt ugly. Tony has a job in the sewers due to his stature, but it is dangerous. I still liked it. I saw every episode of "The Cramp Twins" on BBC and Cartoon Network (evening) Seasons 1 & 2. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough episodes, and the show desperately needed Seasons 3 & 4. 100 episodes would've been perfect plus a movie at the end. I liked how each episode is like 10-15 minutes. In the movie (1 hrs), Wayne and Lucien have a girlfriend each, and they discover Wendy is a Swamp person. She cries and her family escape from Soap City like that. I don't want to see this ever again. All these episodes are stuck in my head. 6/10.
Although this is not the best of the best that cartoon network had to offer, it's definitely way better than people claim. In fact, it's pretty good! Yes, this is not as good as courage the cowrdy dog, samurai jack or powerpuff girl, but it' a very unique and chill show which manages to be weird but still remaining chill. The humor is different from most anything else, being pretty direct and rough, not trying to be too crazy or too complex either, but it's effective and enjoyable. The world is very unique as well and it remains grounded in reality, more so than any comedy that I've seen on cartoon network, which I find fascinating. It's basically a semi-realistic, semi-comedy show that I don't think you can find anywhere else.
The downside is that it tends to be a bit bland and simplistic. Anyway, this is one of the most underrated cartoon shows along side spaced out and maybe ozzy and drix, although not as good as the last two.

The show has some charm and fun to it. I had no idea it actually went on for 4 seasons and I can tell on a re-watch, that 4 seasons was very generous In respect to the actual depth of worthwhile content the show could churn out.
Cramp Twins is at its heart, over the top Slice of Life, following brothers Lucien and Wayne on their everyday adventures. Their everyday adventures aren't exactly normal. They live in a small city near a swamp and somehow their lives are jam packed and there's numerous ways for Lucien and Wayne to find themselves in all kinds of trouble and adventures. Side characters also play their part, the brother's friends and family act as the supporting cast and they do a decent job of it, though there's little development for any character really.
Cramp Twins has a bit of charm to it, in it's prime the humour is cynical yet passable, the character shaped out well enough and the variety in episodic segments is initially worth getting into. The show is a tad mean spirited. It loves to take a dig at its characters and make fun of them. Most of the time it's controlled but as the seasons progress the show becomes more of a joke on itself. Animation and plot suffer in the last 2 seasons of the show as the adventures become either too far fetched or bland, generally losing inspiration.
I had some fun watching this show, I rolled my eyes watching this show, in the end, it's worth it for the nostalgia, nothing else really .

When The Cramp Twins first started, I loved it. But the later episodes are really repetitive, unoriginal and random, not to mention predictable. The story lines were often simple which isn't a bad thing, but while the early episodes had humour that was funny, the later episodes don't work up to that level, in fact the humour in the later episodes is juvenile and really random.
The animation was pretty good, the colours were bright and the characters were interestingly drawn, while I was never a fan of the theme tune I often loved the incidental music. The writing was to start off humorous and engaging, but like the humour it became juvenile. I had mixed feelings on the characters.
I always liked Lucien and Tony, and I did like Wayne until the writers went overboard and made him a completely unlikeable jerk. The parents had their moments but they weren't enough to make them completely likable, while I never could stand Wendy. On a plus side, the only really consistently good asset was the voice acting, both Tom Kenny and Kath Soucie are great as Wayne and Lucien. Overall, it was a good show but then it became random and juvenile and I didn't like it as much. 6/10 Bethany Cox
