Produced by a new company for Activision, it had all the elements from the last game, sure. It even added the ability to shoot impact webs while jumping. But what it lacked was any of the challenge that made the first one so much fun. The puzzles were simplistic and very dumbed down, and the levels weren't even all that creative (however, when on the rooftops I did like how they chose to render the background scenery). The added street levels were disappointing. Missing from the first game, these could've been a welcomed addition, but they were just a square area with four lousy streets. Not even very creative building designs. Although, another plus was the ability to modify your favorite suit with the powers it may not have had.
Overall, if you completely loved the first one like me, you'll find this game lost a good deal of the magic that game had.

- CuriosidadesIn the game's original ending, Electro shouts "Top of the world!" after he departs his battle with Spider-Man and he goes to the North Tower of the World Trade Center, thus giving Spider-Man the clue he needs to track him down for the game's final battle. When the towers were destroyed on September 11, 2001, the game was quickly pulled and re-released with a new ending, in which Spider-Man just happens to correctly guess the unnamed building that Electro goes to for the game's final boss battle. Furthermore, to make the resemblance to the World Trade Center less obvious, a bridge was added to join the towers together and the textures were altered. The original version of this game is now a sought after collectors item, but identifying it is exceptionally difficult.

- Versões alternativasAfter the September 11, 2001 bombing of the World Trade Center, this game was recalled and re-released with a version that changed the final level. The cutscene playing before the final boss battle has a wide shot removed in which the towers are seen. Instead, it directly fades from Spider-Man swinging out of the museum to Electro standing at the tower. The level itself was slightly reworked, with the most significant change being a bridge that has been added that joins both towers into one building.
