Kane is named for the Biblical Cain, the first murderer in the world. Seth is named after Cain's brother (the one he didn't kill). The King James translation of the Genesis text states that after killing Abel, Cain fled and lived "in the land of Nod" which is in fact a mistranslation of "in the land, wandering." The mistake has given many poets and romanticists the idea for stories about a mysterious country called Nod.
Kane's line "He who controls the past commands the future. He who commands the future conquers the past," is a paraphrase of a key line in George Orwell's 1984.
First game in the massively popular Command & Conquer series. This installment has been renamed "Tiberian Dawn" to indicate that it's the beginning of the Tiberium story arc.
Dr. Moebius' first name is never given in this game, but is revealed to be Ignatio in the sequels.
