This tv show is definitely a classic. My parents saw this when they were my age, and I grew up watching "El Chavo" and of course "El Chapulin Colorado".
"El Chapulin Colorado" is a hero who appears every time somebody says "Oh! now who would be able to help me?". It is really funny, he is not the classical super hero (smart, beefy, handsome and very brave) he is rather a comic hero with very good intentions, but a little coward sometimes. The situations where he is involved are very funny, and he will always get away with is even if it is by accident.
If you like "Chespirito" and all his work (which is very good by the way) and you like comedy where you don't have to think over and over to get the joke, you will love this show!

El Chapulín Colorado was and always be one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I remember growing up in Ecuador I used to love this show to death, they used to show it like around noon, when it was recess time from school, I would go home and watch this show while I was having lunch. The character always fascinated me and was like taking a break from amazing superheroes like Batman, Superman and Spiderman. But Chapulín was amazing as well. While he was, like his creator, Roberto Gomez Bolaños describes him, dumb, stupid, ugly, short, clumsy, cowardly, he still had a lot of heart like the shield on his uniform shows, and even though he was scared to death of a possible peril, he would never back down from it and face it. That was true courage. And of course wherever there was a pretty girl, he would never waste any chance to flirt with her. The special effects from this show is what fascinated me as a kid, although cheap to today's standards, it was pretty groundbreaking for it's time on Mexican television. (early to late 70's). This show, along with "El Chavo del Ocho" will always have a place in my heart and in the heart of millions of Latinos around the world. It's the two biggest shows in the history of Spanish television. Highly recommendable if you like classic slapstick humor and if you're a gringo, if you're curious to know who the "Bumblebee Man" is really based on. 10 out of 10.
I love this show, I found it to be one of the funniest, most clever and original shows ever made. I loved every single aspect about it: The stories, the characters, the music...Everything was perfect. I could see thousand of episodes of this, and I never get bored.
"El Chapulin Colorado" absolutely rocks. It is absolutely awesome, like all the other shows made by "Chespirito".
If only there were more comedies like this: In these years, all is about gross jokes about corporal fluids, vulgar sex jokes and pointless cultural references (Think in shows like "Family Guy" or "Mystery Science Teather 3000"...I hate those shows) whatever, "El Chapulin Colorado" is one of the best shows ever made. I love it, and I always will love it. It is that good.

El Chapulín Colorado, alongside El Chavo del Ocho, by the same creator (Roberto Bolanos), is one of the most beloved sitcoms in Latin America. Both shows ran from 1973 to 1979 and were very popular in the region. They were regularly repeated on free Latin American TV channels from the 1980s until the early 2000s.
El Chapulín Colorado is a parody of american heroes. Each episode, "el chapulin" is called upon to save someone from a villain, such as a pirate or a gangster. The cast is brilliant, his characters generated a number of popular catchphrases during its run. The show is family friendly, with easy jokes, and remains entertaining to this day. In its best moments, Bolanos' work can be compared to that of Mel Brooks in America. El Chapulín Colorado parodied the universe of heroes, like Get Smart, the spy movies or Young Frankenstein, the classics of the horror genre.
Some classic episodes, such as "Al que de Plano le Tomaron el Pelo Fue a Sansón" (1974), "Cuento de brujas" (1976) or "Erase Un Hombre A Una Nariz Pegado" (1978)", could also be a success worldwide, if they hadn't faced the obstacle of being a production from a third world country in the 70's. They are original, light entertainment and still funny.
Despite this, the show also has its flaws. In its seven seasons, El Chapulin faced internal problems, with actors leaving, which took away some of their beloved characters. Roberto Bolanos (the creator of El Chavo and El Chapulin) used to re-record some stories several times. So we have "episode x" version 1973, or 1974, with few changes. Other stories aren't as inspired, usually when episodes overdo the slapstick comedy. The frantic pace of production, El Chapulín ran for 260 episodes in seven years, undermined the show's consistency.
El Chapulín Colorado, alongside El Chavo del Ocho, though inconstant and with some flaws, is one of the most beloved Latin American sitcoms.

Fun, happy, stupid, brilliant. This show is a master piece of Roberto Bolaños that created an unique view about life. It is a very smart humoring show with silly scenes and low investiment. It brings renomaded and well know stories alive from a different commedy view. It has the heart of Mexico on it, rich in labguage and referencies, respectful with the audience and educative for kids. Its episodes are out of time which means its perspectives never gets old. You will like it, your kid will like it, your grandson will like it as your parents did amd as they parents as well. Just one word to describe it: brilliant.
