Snooker legend Willie Thorne was offered the role of Bunny

Little known Irish actor Gerard Kellet was considered for the role of Git but had to pull out due to a scheduling conflict.

Bunny is regularly seen reading a pulp Western novel, and the film has many of the conventions, such as the use of a six-shooter, and the chapter headings are in pulp style, as well as the quotation from 'high' literature that begins it.

Additionally, the characters discuss travelling to Cork as "going down," and at the end Git mentions to Sabrina that he 'went down' on the girl he met at the hotel.
