Teesra Kaun?

Partho Ghosh's 1994 flick 'Teesra Kaun?' is a good film. Keeping in mind the 90's its a pretty decent attempt by its markers. Despite the film's low box office response, I like Teesra Kaun? a lot. I feel it was an entertaining film with a strong climax. This thriller has a good concept and as said before an edge of the seat end.

Performance Wise: Mithun Chakraborty plays himself the Superstar. He plays to the gallery. Chunkey Pandey is good. Jaaved Jaffery's character is well written and well played to. Somy Ali is a never-ending beauty. She looks alluring and does a excellent job. Amol Palekar is superb. Sadashiv Amarpurkar shines. Tinu Anand and Avatar Gill are perfect. Satish Shah and Rakesh Bedi go slightly over the top. Ritupurna looks cute.

All n all 'Teesra Kaun?' is a decent entertainer. For 1994 a Thumbs Up!

I struggled to give a score of 6/10 to this remake of a Malayalam murder mystery No.20, Madras Mail ..It had a good premise, some solid actors who are natural performers like Amol Palekar, Mithun and Sadashiv Amrapurkar... But the first half is a torture with terrible trio of Satish Shah, Rakesh Bedi and Chunky Pandey's lame attempts at humour and too many ordinary songs with an equally ordinary looking leading lady Somy Ali were all avoidable if the movie was supposed to be a thriller..

The victim Rituparna's strange re-appearance into the train is inexplicable... Javed Jaffrey's role was not fully fleshed out. His motive for revenge against Chunky pandey, reluctance to co-operate with the police ,after the murder of Rituparna sen gupta is not revealed even at the end.. The three wastrels using/misusing Mithun chakravarthy the actor also did not make much sense.. The killer's identity, intentions to murder which are key elements ins a thriller are not powerful or convincing enough.. Not a bad choice if you have nothing to see on a rainy weekend...

I like suspense movies a lot so maybe therefore I liked 'teesra kaun' more than it deserved to be liked. It has but very high numbers of songs that also mediocre and that was definitely a put off. It is a decent murder mystery. The high number of songs make you off track of story. A good watch if you like whodunit kind of movies
