This was named one of the most violent movies of 1990 by the National Coalition on TV Violence.
In a case brought before the Writers Guild of America, Steven Seagal sought full credit for the script, claiming that he had rewritten 93 percent of the original draft. However, the Guild ruled in favor of Michael Grais and Mark Victor, who received sole credit.
The film got $1 million added to the budget following the success of Difícil de Matar (1990), also starring Steven Seagal.
