Ham and cheese.
Two thoughts of this film when I was watching this.
The ham represents the acting of the actors in this low budget gore-fest, as they ham it up.
The cheese is the plot of this film, mainly swiss and full of holes.
The film opens with a person driving down a road, and the car radio is playing facts from that year. The driver pulls up at a hotel and the hotel clerk falls for the person and finds out she was a he, which leads to the demise of the drag queen, any more than three beers and you would have thought Jackie was a lady, not a guy in a wig, make up and high heels.
When the spirit of the dead drag queen comes back at the hotel clerk's wedding fifteen years later, he is shocked to see he/she and then the body count continues to clock up.
The gore scenes are pretty simple, somewhat borrowed from Friday the 13th films. As the film progresses, you can pretty much guess who is going to die.
I found this film for sale on ebay and watched it on VHS. Interestengly enough, the trailer was featured on another video I saw and the trailer was good, which grabbed my attention.
Laughable yet easy going film.

As stated in the above summary, this Z-grade slasher dud has very little to offer but it's from Troma so what do you expect? The story starts when a transvestite checks into a rural hotel that specializes in servicing newlywed couples and tries to seduce the owner of the establishment. When the man realizes that he is kissing a cross dressing dude instead of a chick he offs the bottom boy. Of course the evil tranny comes back from the dead in zombie form to seek revenge. Notable characters in the movie include a funny drunk pastor, the smokin' hot wife of the hotel owner, and a weed smoking punk rock couple. The effects are extremely cheap, the zombie costume is pretty lame, and the kills are nothing to brag about. That being said there is some blood, a couple boobie scenes (yes the boobs are on females!) and a decapitation that was OK. Being a big fan of cheesy low budget horror myself i would have been content fast-forwarding to the one rather long shower scene that shows a killer rack because that's really the only part of the film that stood out. If bottom of the barrel violent horror garbage is your thing then i would recommend watching DOOM ASYLUM or one of Tim Ritter's films instead of this.
Another of City Light's cheapies, that throws out movies, like people do trash. You gotta give credit to it's story. Transvestite tries to get sexy with a manager who runs a hotel for newlyweds. He doesn't take to him, sorrily, and ends up murdering the trannie. Years, later, his spirit returns, killing off couples, who have just made their vows. The hotel manager is about to get married to a much younger lass. Lucky him. A 40's psychic woman, holidaying at the hotel with her man is his only chance. Laughable flick, as is almost everything Joseph Mehri and Richard Pepin bring out, this one's an entertainer with overdone violence and some not bad acting. But do watch this privately, to avoid embarrassment from others who might end up killing you off. The priest is a hoot.
Joseph Merhi's "The Newlydeads" is a textbook example of late 80's slasher. The spirit of a dead drag queen kills honeymoon couples at the lakeside resort where he was murdered. This film is so horrendously bad that it truly has to be seen to be believed. The acting is awful, the suspense is non-existent and there is plenty of cheesy gore. The character of drunken preacher is hilarious. This is the sort of movie that keeps you thinking that they must have intended it to be bad-this couldn't be some sort of accidental mistake.Avoid this one like the plague.2 out of 10.
I think that this film is about as bad as it gets. It is cruel, has despicable characters, and it concentrates on homo-phobia as if it were a good thing. NEWLYDEADS made me angry in many different ways.
First, there's the plot, which is so ludicrously played out that you wished that the transvestite would wipe everyone out pronto. Second, the actors are universally annoying. Why noone decided to hire professionals is probably a credit to the lecherous script. Thirdly, the direction is poor, poor, poor...fruit has rotted much more colorfully. And, the thing is, the director still gets work!
This is appalling work by any standards, and someone had to actually edit this thing.
NEWLYDEADS is a zero in my book.
