Chikyuu Sentai Faibuman (Earth Squadron Fiveman) is a Japanese Tokusatsu series. It was TOEI Company Limited's 14th installment of the Super Sentai TV series. It aired on TV Asahi from March 2, 1990 - February 8, 1991, with 48 episodes. The international title for this show is Sky Rangers.
In the year 1970, Doctor Hiroshi Hoshikawa was researching how to transform the planet Sedon into a beautiful, green, lush world, testing it by attempting to grow flowers. On the first day the flower bloomed, the Galactic Imperial Army Zone launched an assault on the planet. He and his wife, Midori Hoshikawa, were separated from their children. A robot who was friends with Doctor and Mrs. Hoshikawa, Arthur G6, took the five children back to Earth and raised them.
Now 20 years later in the year 1990, the five are now teachers at New Town Elementary School. The Galactic Imperial Army Zone invades Earth as its 1,000th target. If the Zone Empire successfully conquers 1,000 planets, they will obtain global domination. As they begin the invasion, three vehicles appear and fight against them. Five warriors descend from their vehicles and confront Zone.
The Hoshikawa siblings have been developing the Fiveman technology and training hard upon the possible threat and attack of the Zone Empire. Now the five siblings are ready to battle Zone Empire as Fiveman.
Fiveman's main series writer was Hirohisa Soda. He was the main series writer since Dai Sentai Goggle-V (1982-1983). TOEI fired him after the extremely poor ratings of Fiveman that almost caused the permanent cancellation of the Super Sentai series in its entirety!
For being the first Super Sentai series of the 1990's, the plot is very good. Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but very watchable. The music is fantastic composed by Akihiko Yoshida. The opening and ending themes are great as well! Fiveman is the first Sentai series where all the team members are siblings, meaning that they all have much greater bonds together than previous teams.
For those who love the Super Sentai series as much as I do, will most likely enjoy this series as the story is good, the characters are good, and the music is fantastic. Remi Hoshikawa/Five Yellow is my favorite character of the series.
Overall, an extremely underrated Super Sentai series. Recommended for Super Sentai fans. I really did enjoy this series and you will too.

A group of siblings were separated from their parents while fleeing from an imperial alien army that has a goal to destroy 1000 planets to make their deity ruler immortal. The siblings were taken to earth with the family robot who ends up taking care of them. Over the course of at least a decade, the siblings became teachers for an elementary school as a way to go through civilian life. While in reality they were secretly trained by their guardian robot to become Earth's defense against the same imperial army that forced them to separate from their own parents. In order for them to be reunited with their parents, they must defeat the alien army before it succeeds in making Earth the 1000th destroyed planet.
For being the first Super Sentai series of the 90s, it has a good story. Not masterful, but fairly watchable. What separates this from the other super Sentai shows is that it's the first series were all of the rangers are related to one another. So the bound between them is different from the other Sentai Ranger bounds.
For those who like watching the other Super Sentai shows, will likely to enjoy this series as the story is good, and the female characters are wonderful to know. Especially Five Yellow who is my favorite ranger of this series.

A bad sentai. Fiveman was able to fix a lot of Turboranger mistakes, like shallow characters and copy / pasted stories, but, unfortunately steel was unable to make next step forward for Super Sentai Series. Again, it's something to enjoy after a hard day to relax, but lack of main story events will make a lot of fans, who learned..
