Norske byggeklosser

Most people in Norway will agree that Rolv Wesenlund is one of the country's best comedians of all time. The TV-series "Fleksnes" made him a star not only in Norway, but also in Sweden. In my opinion it's therefore a great shame that so many of his fans totally ignored "Norske byggeklosser". Even though the film is a bit stupid at times, the best scenes in the movie really make up for this. Wesenlund is stunning in a number of different roles (a carpenter, an electrician, an annoying neighbour and so on) and together with Bjorn Sand (as the poor guy building a new house for his family) he makes some of the scenes hilarious.

In this classic Norwegian comedy, which arguably is the best ever, we meet almost every Norwegian comedian in often more than one role, where Rolf Wesenlund really steals the movie with his arrogant roles.

The married small children's couple Ingrud and Olav Femte is building a house in the rural country. Ingrid is pregnant with another, and Olav as to deal with a hopeless entrepreneur, builders and Notwegian bureaucracy.

It's a crazy comedy, but still it gives both a rare glimpse on how it was to establish a new home in the seventies, as well as how the bureaucracy was back then. Of course, Femte meets all possible problems, and hen a few more impossible to foresee, but still this film is a laugh out loud comedy, which in the end makes you feel really sorry for the young family.

Absolutely everyone does their job well. A great comedy which was a great national success in 1972, and which has been a yearly holiday TV classic ever since.

I'm a Rolf Wesenlund fan, and I love "Fleksnes". But this film is just too annoying. The stupidity reach it's climax when Femte is stopped by the police that showing a sign with the speed limit 10 km/h. I see that Bang Hansen is trying to make a funny silence-movie scene, but it's just does'nt fit in. It's maybe the humor they had in Norway in the early 70's, but the story is so unbelievable thin. The only thing that save this movie from a complete catastrophe is some of the Wesenlund figures, specially the one laughing all the time. Maybe this is more fit for a younger crowd. Think I like Pål Bang Hansen better as a filmcritic than a director.
