Andrés (Bruno Lomas) and Luis (José Luís Carbonell as Kiko) are two taxi drivers, but also young and eager to succeed in the world of music: Luis, is also a womanizer who insatiably goes after girls although he gets a jealous girlfriend (Conchita Goyanes). Between the two they propose to jump to fame, record albums, become popular. Taking advantage of the visit to the city of the well-known star of melodic song, Silvia (Claudia Gravy), they intend to gain her confidence in order to launch her intercession. In the end, things are resolved with the organization of a television contest, whose prize is a day with Silvia (who even has a helicopter to travel with the winner, but she says that she has not flown in years) both the contest and the means to carry it out have been a ruse by France (Trini Alonso), Silvia's mother, to promote her own star. Meanwhile Kiko pretends to be a rich man to trick the manager and thus promote Andrés' musical career.
A pop musical film that was the second, along with ¨Codo con Codo¨, starring the rocker Bruno Lomas together with Claudia Gravy who also sings some songs, and who at that time was beginning his career in Spanish cinema. Bruno Lomas was a singer who had a very personal style and who also shows off his voice with grace. The film was made in order to promote the artistic career of the then famous rocker Bruno Lomas, and it even contains a best-selling song, but when heard today his songs and voice seem stale and outdated. Bruno also satarred another musical film Codo con codo (1967) by Victor Auz, along with the singer Massiel and Claudia Gravy. Sadly, Bruno Lomas died early due to a car accident at the age of 50. But it is worth mentioning his partner, an actress who is still alive, now forgotten, but in her time she had a certain fame, she is Claudia Gravy , whose talent was already evident in her artistic beginnings. Born in Belgian Congo, she starred in all kinds of genres, Spaghetti Western, adventures , terror, thrillers, drama, such as: ¡Mátalo!, Plomo sobre Dallas, Los rebeldes de Arizona , Byleth, Tuareg, Los tigres de Mompracem, La Espuela, and she had quite a bit of success also in Italy. Other Characters are: Kiko ór José Luís Carbonell is very likeable because he has a graceful gesture, though , nowadays his role would be politically incorrect as a womanizer relentlessly chasing beautiful girls and throwing compliments at them, and adding the bossy manager played by Trini Alonso and teh peculiar Maitre performed by Gustavo Ré.
The film is plain , simple and really mediocre, only highlights due to its simplicity that can be seen in the general approach and in other things such as the staging, which is not very ostentatious and is deliberate. The other element that captivates is the charm that comes from the story of these cabmen friends who try to make their way as singers and who help each other out thinking that they will never stop being friends.
Financed by Ignacio F Iquino, as usual in all 'IFISA' productions, the film's low budget is noticeable, with poor sets, little luxury and limited environments in which the action takes place. And of course, appearing ordinary Iquino technicians: cinematography by Antonio L Ballesteros, musical score by Enrique Escobar, and his regular secondary actors , such as: Gustavo Re, Trini Alonso, Manuel Muñiz as Pajarito, César Ojinaga, Marina Ferri or Juan Torres.
The film was averagely directed by Juan Bosch, containing some flaws , failures and gaps . Bosch was a director of the 60s and 70s who stood out for his police films, some Spaghetti Westerns and especially for his comedies beachwear. . This craftsman Juan Bosch was a Spanish writer/filmmaker who so consistently mixed the good with the mediocre that it became quite impossible to know what to expect from him next . Bosch was a Spanish artisan who wrote and directed films of all kinds of genres such as Spaghetti Western : "Dallas", "God in heaven Arizona on Earth", "And the crows will dig your grave" , "My horse my gun your widow", "Ciudad Maldita", "Stagecoach of the condemned", "They believed he was no Saint" . Comedy : " Mauricio mon amour" , "40 años sin sexo", "Caray con el divorcio", "Rolls para Hipolito" . Terror : " Secta Siniestra" and Giallo : "The killer with a thousand eyes", "The killer wore gloves" . Rating 4/10. Only for 60s' Spanish musical comedy fans.
