BRILLIANT film, where can I buy it?

I saw this film years ago and was VERY impressed.

The plot is unusual in that it depicts a sympathetic relationship between an invading German officer and a Belgian girl.

I'd give anything to know why this film seems not to be available.

    Wonderful Film

I have been waiting for over 40 years to see this movie again but so far to my knowledge it is not available anywhere. This film has been forgotted by everyone, sad but true. It is really one of the finest world war 2 films made in the UK. I only wish someone, somehow, can bring it back. I made numerous efforts to find this film but so far no one can tell me where it can be obtained. I have written to many film studios in the UK but all tell me the film is not availabe. No one can tell me why but the film cannot be bought, shown, or distributed by anyone. It is as if it never existed but to those of us who know the film realize it was a wonderful love story true to world war 2 love story films.

First i am happy to find a lot of people who are so fond of this film like me!Since years I try to get it in the original English synchronized version, because the German synchronized is,except M.Schell ,with strange and silly voices and stiff dialogs.I am so much interested in hearing the real voice of Marius Goring, and I cannot understand, why he did not speak the German version himself, although he did speak so fluently and without an accent! Both main actors are extremely good in this film ,and all the others too,to my opinion.Iwould be very happy,if I could get an English DVD ,but to get it in Germany is nearly impossible!! So Little Time review

A poignant, bittersweet tale of forbidden love between a young woman and a much older man who also happens to be a Nazi officer occupying her country. The chemistry between Marius Goring and Maria Schell isn't too convincing, but the story is told with intelligence.

A haunting love story. You'll fall in love with Maria Schell

I can't recall when I first saw this movie but I didn't soon forget it.Without a doubt one of Maria Schell's greatest roles.Marius Goring was also great in his role. And an uncharacteristic part for him.I only wish it was available on video.

The film was made at Elstree but a unit went out to Belgium to film various outdoor scenes. The film unit based themselves in Leau, a small town with a population of 2,000 about 45 miles east of Brussels. Some of the scenes were at the Château de Sterrebeek, just outside Brussels, which stood in for the Château de Malvines in the film.
    • Erros de gravação
Although the story takes place in the mid-1940s, all of Maria Schell's clothing and hairstyles are strictly early 1950s.

Blumel: [Nicole goes to knock on Colonel von Hohensee's door but it's opened suddenly by the Colonel's orderly, Blumel] Fraulein de Malvines

[he announces to the Colonel. Nicole enters the room]

Oberst: [He clicks his heels and bows to Nicole] Good evening, mademoiselle. I'm very pleased to see you.

      [to Blumel]

      Oberst: Bring den wein.

      Blumel: Ja wohl, Herr Oberst.

Oberst: Well, have you been working hard?

      Nicole de Malvines: Hmmm.

Oberst: Well, let's see what you have done since yesterday.

      [Goes to the piano]

Oberst: You're not feeling tired now?

      [Nicole shakes her head]

Oberst: When one does something one likes, one is not tired, eh?

[Sees Nicole eyeing the food set out on the table]

      Oberst: Supper first, music afterwards.

Nicole de Malvines: I'm not hungry.

Oberst: You're very thin. Food is short, I know.

      [Grabs her wrist]

      Oberst: Come!

      [Leads her to the table]

      Oberst: See, cake, strawberries.

Nicole de Malvines: And whipped cream

      [Smiling]

Oberst: Perhaps you think I deal on the black market?

      Nicole de Malvines: No.

Oberst: The cake and the butter come from my home on the Amber Coast.

      [Sniffs wine]

Oberst: That is, on the Baltic Sea.

      [Pours wine]

Oberst: I, too, have a castle there. Sometimes, I long to see it again.

Nicole de Malvines: That is because...

      Oberst: Yes?

Nicole de Malvines: Well, this is not your home. It's Phillipe's. He should be here, not you.

      Oberst: Phillipe?

Nicole de Malvines: [Looks at the portrait over the fireplace] My cousin, Phillipe de Malvines.

Oberst: [He turns and looks at the portrait] This gentleman? He has a fine face.

[Serves Nicole a slice of cake]

Oberst: Perhaps you think I enjoy thrusting myself on your hospitality?

      [Sits]

Oberst: It is an unfortunate necessity, You have a beautiful country, mademoiselle. But, then, one's own country is always the most beautiful, don't you think? You don't know the Baltic coast?

      [Nicole shakes her head]

Oberst: The sea is so blue there. I sometimes think that it is bluer than anywhere in the world. When I was a boy, I was certain of it. But, then, when one is young, one is certain of everything.

[Winces as a spasm of pain crosses his face. He gets up and takes a tablet which he washes down with wine]

Oberst: Forgive me, mademoiselle. I have an old wound that troubles me sometimes.

Nicole de Malvines: [Looking concerned] Hmmm.

Oberst: [Sits down again and eats some cake] Well, the cake should be good. It is baked for me by my old nurse. She looks after my estate when I'm away as I have no family. You think it's strange that I should have a nurse? We all begin the same and end the same.

      [Gets up]

Oberst: Have some whipped cream. You're fond of whipped cream!

[Nicole smiles as he serves her the cream]
