This is my first review ( because we all have a first!). I understand some of the references to box checking the diversity components of the program.
However, whilst this might not be the first show where a white cop shoots an innocent black man, I find it astonishing that there are so many references to liberalism, and leftist being at the forefront.
It's more aligned with recognizing and being truthful about the fact that cops shoot black people indiscriminately, far too often.
Racial profiling is not going away and there are too many bad cops ruining the reputation of the vast majority of great ones who do a difficult job.
In my opinion, we need to keep making programs that call out this reality.... whatever your politics.

I thought I'd watch the show while doing some other work. Never got to that other work. The way the story unfolds from various perspectives really drew me in from episode one. I've found a great new show for Sunday nights.
The problem I had with this show is that it approached a serious topic as if it was a soap opera. Fraught with the appropriate emotions but lacking in depth. It will do well with those already in the choir but it should have attempted to reach a wider audience. Serious themes: White Cop on unarmed Black killings; corruption at City Hall; Children given up at birth; Gay relationships; Police stress; Police tribalism, are all touched on but too superficially. It looks like a pilot for a series. A series I won't be watching.
Ok, I've seen two episodes of The Red Line, and it's not bad. Not the best TV I've ever seen, but shows promise. I have read a lot of IMDB reviews to help me choose movies and tv programs to watch, and sometimes the reviews get piled on, usually by those who are more interested in Candy Crush or mommy than real thought.
This time it's obvious that some highly placed official with a strong Tweet finger, or one of his minions, is at work. Key phrases and words like Fake News, Hollywood, Liberal, saying things about other reviews that really don't exist, and inability to show intelligence in comments and spelling lead down that path. Honestly, 1's out the Wazoo? Who's fooling whom?
Red Line, from what I have seen, graphically shows the stress and ambiguity and need for growth on all sides of the fence. Maybe if we had more shows like this that might encourage intelligent discussion, we'd all be better off.

This just didn't meet the mark. The performances were uneven. The editing was sloppy. The premise was interesting but it could have been executed in 4 episodes with better writers, some better casting choices (Jira is the linchpin of this story and the young actress, or the direction she was given, didn't live up to the challenge). I give this series a 5 (meh) out of 10. {Political/Crime Drama}
