Co-written and directed by Chris Stokes, Lifetime’s ‘The Stepdaughter’ is a thriller drama movie that centers on the themes of family and revenge. It follows a vengeful teenager named Joanna Lawrence, who reunites with her biological father, Michael Lawrence, and moves in with him. His new family consists of his new wife, Whitney Hughes, and her two sons. Posing as an innocent high school goer, she makes her way into the family, finding opportunities to seek revenge on her stepmother. As Whitney is reeling from the devastating deaths of her mother and grandmother, she desires to get close to her father and get rid of any obstacle that comes in her way.

The thriller The Stepdaughter, which was released last year on Tubi, is all set to air on the Lifetime channel this month. The film, which stars Cassidey Fralin, Blue Kimble, and Annie Ngozi Ilonzeh in lead roles, received a 5.3 rating on IMDb.

It is a psychological thriller on the lines of movies like Orphan, which sees a family being haunted by the dad’s stepdaughter. Directed by Chris Stokes, who has directed many thrillers, the movie will be premiering on Lifetime this Saturday, August 30 (via Metacritic).

Kale Culley, best known for his portrayal of August Walker on The CW’s Jared Padalecki-led Walker series, has signed with Lbi Entertainment for expanded representation.

The Texas actor played the son of Cordell Walker (Padalecki) over four seasons. As a child actor, Culley’s first gig was in 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, the sports thriller that starred Josh Hartnett and Mira Sorvino.

That was followed by roles in the CBS family drama Me, Myself and I and working alongside director Matthew Weiner and Diane Lane in Amazon’s The Romanoffs. He also portrayed Little Will in Peel, opposite Emile Hirsch.

Culley’s other TV credits include guest roles on NCIS, Black-ish, Sydney to the Max and Fresh Off the Boat. New to the series regular game, Culley played August Walker until CW cancelled the series.

Boy Meets World alumna Danielle Fishel has revealed she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer.

“I was recently diagnosed with Dcis, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer,” she told listeners on Monday’s episode of her Pod Meets World podcast.

“It is very, very, very early,” the actress continued. “It’s technically stage zero. To be specific, I was diagnosed with high-grade Dcis with micro-invasion. And I’m going to be fine. I’m having surgery to remove it. I’m going to be on some follow-up treatment. I’ve had to make a lot of decisions over the last couple of days.”

Fishel said she decided to share her diagnosis publicly because she felt she could help others by encouraging others to take care of their health and stay on top of their mammogram appointments.

Raven-Symoné has signed a multiyear overall deal with Disney Branded Television that includes a pilot greenlight for a “Raven’s Home” spinoff series titled “Alice in the Palace.”

Disney also announced that “Raven’s Home,” itself a spinoff of “That’s So Raven,” will not return for a seventh season. The sixth and final season aired from April to September 2023.

Under her new overall deal, Raven-Symoné will produce, direct and develop projects across linear and streaming, with a focus on multi-cam comedies, Disney said in a press release. First up is “Alice in the Palace,” which Raven-Symoné will executive produce and direct. Exclusive: Raven-Symoné is extending her relationship with Disney, which she has called home for many years, with a new multi-year overall deal at Disney Branded Television. Under the pact, she will produce, direct, and develop projects across linear and streaming, with a focus on multi-cam comedies.

First off, she will executive produce and direct sitcom Alice in the Palace, which has received a pilot order. It is an Alice-centered spinoff from Raven-Symoné’s Disney Channel multi-camera comedy series Raven’s Home, which will not return for a seventh season. Its most recent Season 6 concluded its run in September 2023.

The deal with Raven-Symoné, which also includes continued acting and hosting opportunities, and the order for Alice in the Palace fits into Disney Branded Television’s strategy of building a new Disney Channel lineup of multi-camera sitcoms. In doing that, the company’s executive team has been leaning into classic Disney Channel IP.

AMC announced that Janet Hubert, Caleb Eberhardt and Shakira Ja’nai Paye have been added to the cast of upcoming sci-fi comedy “Demascus” as series regulars.

Premiering in October, Under Wraps is a remake of the first-ever Dcom, which debuted in 1997. Like the original film, this new version focuses on a group of 12-year-old friends who accidentally revive a mummy they discover in their neighbor’s basement several days before Halloween, and TVLine has an exclusive first look at the trailer.

Mark Hamill and Lupita Nyong’o were among the winners on Saturday night as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the children’s and animation categories. The show represented the second of three Daytime Emmy ceremonies this year; the third will be live streamed on Sunday.

Nyong’o won the limited performance in a children’s program Emmy for playing the Storyteller, in Netflix’s “Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices. Hammil was named outstanding performer in a preschool animated program for Disney Channel’s “Elena of Avalor.”

This represented the first year that all children’s programming, regardless of timeslot, shifted to the Daytime Emmys, under a new agreement between New York-based NATAS and L.A.-based Television Academy.

July is the month that North America goes back to the movies in earnest. There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.

In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Judging by the early buzz, that “Premier Access” price may be worth it. Disney+ is keeping the original summer movie parade going in July with The Rock’s latest action film, Jungle Cruise, premiering on July 30.

Hallmark’s 2020 “Countdown to Christmas” has already begun, with a total of 40 new holiday movies set to air this season across the Hallmark Channel and sister network Hallmark Movies & Mysteries — some of which started rolling out well before Halloween.

While there are some fan-favorite Hallmark actors and actresses starring in the lineup, like Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert, Will Kemp, Holly Robinson Peete and Danica McKellar, there are several newcomers leading films, including Aaron Tveit, Krystal Joy Brown, Victoria Clark, Tom McGowan, Alvina August, Janel Parrish, Jeremy Jordan and Marisol Nichols, among many others.

This year’s slate also includes “The Christmas House,” which stars Jonathan Bennett and features a storyline about a gay couple looking to adopt their first child. It’s a good day to be a Disney Plus subscriber! The relatively new streaming service has failed to disappoint fans as of yet and is looking to continue its streak of excellent content with today’s latest batch of releases.

Friday delivered a ton of new titles to Disney Plus, but let’s look ahead at what’s due to drop this coming week on the Mouse House’s streaming service. The final haul of September is another hefty one, bringing with it various new National Geographic series, some new TV episodes and the latest D+ original movie.

The TV highlight of the haul has to be the premiere of Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new wildlife documentary series narrated by Disney favorite Josh Gad. Expect new episodes of that to release weekly for the next couple of months. Meanwhile, you may also want to check out season 2 of the Muppet Babies reboot.

After successfully bringing movie theater fare like Artemis Fowl and Hamilton to the smaller screen, Disney+ is going to attempt its most ambitious movie streaming experiment yet in September.

Disney+’s list of new releases for September 2020 is highlighted by the inclusion of Mulan. Originally scheduled to premiere in March, the live-action adaptation of the classic Disney animated movie was one of the first coronavirus scheduling casualties. Now, after a long wait, Disney is making the movie available (for $29.99) to Disney+ subscribers.

In addition to that big swing, Disney+ is has some other intriguing originals set for September. Alien talk show series Earth to Ned premieres on September 4 and the LeBron James-produced reality series Becoming arrives on September 18.

Disney+ is also set to pad out its library titles. The big movies of note here include two Mighty Ducks sequels, The Wolverine, and Bend it Like Beckham. Season 2 of Gordon Ramsay...

The full line-up of everything that’s coming to Disney Plus next month has been revealed. September will prove to be a hugely important one for the streaming service, too, thanks to the release of Mulan. Dropping on the first Friday of the month, the live-action remake of the classic animated movie is breaking the mold by going up on D+ alongside a limited theatrical release. As you probably know, though, you’ll have to fork out an additional $30 to watch it, as part of a new Premier Access level to the site.

Mulan is the most headline-grabbing addition to the service next month, then, but there’s plenty more besides that coming to D+ in September. Including a few classic Disney movies, a bunch of others inherited from Fox, various National Geographic documentaries and much more.

Nickelodeon will air #KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall, an hour-long special offering a kids-eye view of life during the coronavirus pandemic. It will premiere Monday, March 30 at 7 Pm Et/Pt. The special will directly address kids’ questions and concerns, include tips and insights from medical experts on ways to be healthy, and give first-person accounts from kids and families around the country who are social distancing and making changes to their everyday lives and relationships.

Disney Channel has handed a Season 3 renewal to Sydney at the Max ahead of live-action comedy’s 2020 sophomore run on the cable net.

Set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s, the series follows outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds (Ruth Righi), who lives with her single dad Max (Ian Reed Kesler), in the house he grew up in, along with her progressive grandmother Judy (Caroline Rhea). As Sydney navigates becoming a teenager alongside her bestie Olive (Ava Kolker), Max’s flashbacks of his childhood with his best friend Leo (Christian J. Simon) parallel her adventures, illustrating how life’s “growing pains” never change. Jackson Dollinger plays the younger Max.

The series was created and is executive produced by Mark Reisman.

Alexa Mansour (Unfriended: Dark Web), Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball), and Hal Cumpston (Australian comedy Bilched) are set as leads on AMC’s new Walking Dead spinoff series, set for premiere in 2020, Deadline has confirmed.

The new spinoff will feature two young female protagonists and will focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it, according to the description by AMC. The hook will be to see who remains good and who turns evil. Details of the roles are being kept under wraps.

Co-created by Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe, the spinoff will be run by Matt Negrete, who has been a writer and producer on The Walking Dead for the past five seasons. Produced by AMC Studios, the spinoff is slated to start production on 10 episodes this summer in Virginia.
