Obviously, she’ll have plenty of lessons to teach her team members, whether it’s helping them with their singing or helping them with their life choices. After all, McEntire has been through all of the ups and downs the music industry has to offer, and she’s had to learn to adapt many times along the way. In fact, she’s branched out beyond music on several occasions, acting on television, in movies, and even on Broadway. When we’ve spoken to McEntire, she’s talked about how her perseverance and adaptability have paid off in extending her career far beyond that of most performers. The remake of Disney's classic The Little Mermaid is wisely bringing back the beloved songs from the original soundtrack while also including new ones from Lin-Manuel Miranda. Disney's original The Little Mermaid was released in 1989, and it’s based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel (Halle Bailey) is a mermaid and the youngest daughter of the king of the ocean, King Triton (Javier Bardem). She dreams of being able to walk on land and makes a pact with the undersea witch, Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), to live on dry land.
Famed composer and frequent Disney collaborator Alan Menken returns to score The Little Mermaid live-action remake. Menken has been nominated for 19 Academy Awards, winning eight, including one for "Under the Sea" in the original Little Mermaid animated film (he was also nominated against himself that year for "Kiss the Girl"). Every new live-action Disney remake comes with a few new songs complimenting the animated classic’s original score, to expand on the world of the beloved characters (and also to qualify for the Oscars Original Song category). But in next month’s “The Little Mermaid,” some of the tunes from the original 1989 animated movie will end up sounding quite different from how fans remember them.
Alan Menken, the composer of the film’s original score, revealed in a new interview with Vanity Fair that alterations were made to two songs from the original “The Little Mermaid” for the upcoming remake. Menken, who worked on the original film with the late lyricist Howard Ashman and teamed up with Lin-Manuel Miranda for the remake’s music, said the changes were made to modernize the messages portrayed in the classic numbers.

2020 is now firmly in the rearview mirror, and we’re headed full steam ahead into the heart of the Winter TV Awards season in earnest. With that in mind, there’s little doubt what Apple TV+ is thankful for as Golden Globe nominations lurk just around the corner.

Sara Bareilles was the musical guest on Thursday night’s Late Show With Stephen Colbert, performing the song “More Love,” which she wrote for the Apple TV Plus series Little Voice.
Like all late-night performances during the Covid-19 pandemic, Bareilles and her band recorded a pre-taped performance in a separate space from the host, without an audience. Rather than play on a traditional stage, the group performed in an intimate studio space, highlighting every guitar strum and finger snap during the motivational anthem. “There is enough, so ask for more/Fill you up,...

TV provided a lot of memorable musical moments this year.
Some were amazing, and some were very disturbing.
Plus a few classics were dusted off and found new life during these dark times.
1. "Wonderwall"/"Bad Romance"/"Let It Go" - Ted Lasso
Just when you thought Afc Richmond football couldn't score any higher in the adorable and endearing categories, they went to a karaoke bar on Ted Lasso Season 1 Episode 7.
Sam's rendition of "Wonderwall" was heartfelt. Coach Beard's performance of "Bad Romance" would make Lady Gaga proud. Then Rebecca brought down the house with "Let It Go."
The only thing more entertaining than the singers were the reactions of the usually gruff Roy Kent and a shirtless Dani Rojas.
2. "I Want to be Evil"/"Someone to Watch Over Me - Lucifer
Compared to Lucifer Season 4, the first half of Lucifer Season 5 didn't feature the cast showing off their vocals as often.

Apple TV+'s Little Voice hails from Jessie Nelson and Sara Bareilles, the power duo behind the Broadway hit, "Waitress."
It centers around a struggling artist in New York City, Bess King, who suffers from a bought of stage fright -- or awkwardness -- thanks to being laughed off a stage a year prior.
Bess is at a low in her personal life and her professional life, resulting in the perfect recipe for rich storylines and episodes that leave you wanting more. With a stellar cast and beautiful music, Little Voice is a show that everyone should check out.
The Music
The music, obviously, is sensational thanks to the artistic genius that is Sara Bareilles.
From songs like "Simple and True" to "Dear Hope," each piece of music perfectly represents where Bess is at in her life at that specific moment. The songs never feel forced and are seamlessly worked into the show.

Sara Bareilles’ voice is not a little one, but that hasn’t kept her from recording her own versions of the songs she contributed to the Apple TV Plus series. Ten of them are collected in the new album “More Love: Songs from Little Voice Season One,” which got a surprise drop as Thursday gave way to Friday, after Bareilles had teased the likelihood of such a release without being too specific since the show’s premiere.
The album is only available digitally for now; a physical release on CD and vinyl won’t arrive for another two months, landing Nov. 6.
This 10-song set is not to be confused with previous rollouts of EP-sized cast albums — or with a drop Bareilles recently did of three of her demos for the songs. That streaming release had one key song from the show, “Dear Hope” under its original title, “Hemingway,” performed as...

Bess’ feelings for and about her newly returned mother roil mightily in Little Voice‘s Season 1 finale, but she keeps a tight cap on it all… until a sharply troubling moment puts everything into clear focus.
The bad news? Bess’ mom, Mary (played by Katrina Lenk, of The Band’s Visit on Broadway), slaps Louie during a particularly stressful moment. They’re filming his vlog in public, and he starts belting “Maybe” from Annie while wearing a red, curly wig. He says he and Bess used to sing the song when their mom was gone, and they had no idea where she was.

Ted Lasso isn’t the first series based on a character from a TV commercial — anyone else still haunted by ABC’s Cavemen? Or CBS’ Baby Bob? — but it might be the first good one.

Brittany O’Grady can certainly relate to Bess, the aspiring singer-songwriter she plays in “Little Voice,” Sara Bareilles’ semi-autobiographical Apple TV Plus series.
Whereas Bess works as a dogwalker and a bartender to make ends meet, O’Grady was a host at Figaro Bistrot in Hollywood when she was 17. She was fired after two months because she went home back East for the holidays to look at colleges. “They wanted me to work Christmas,” O’Grady said during an appearance on Variety After-Show.
But she holds no hard feelings. “The food is great,” she added.
Now 24, O’Grady’s credits include starring on Fox’s “Star” as well as in the horror film “Black Christmas.”
For the “Little Voice” audition, she had to perform songs by – who else? – Bareilles. “I was like, ‘I know a couple,’” O’Grady recalled. “I can do that. I got a couple in my back pocket.

Sara Bareilles had long favored “Little Voice” as a title — she named her debut album that, back in 2007. And it ultimately came up as one again when she and her collaborator on Broadway’s “Waitress,” Jessie Nelson, began working on a new TV series about a young singer-songwriter who is just beginning to find and claim her own voice, that was an obvious go-to in naming the Apple TV Plus show. But it took a while to get there, as the two co-executive producers batted around titles — and title songs — for the show.
“After ‘Waitress’ opened, Sara and I were looking for something to do together again, because we had such a beautiful experience working together,” says Nelson, the showrunner and a co-executive producer along with Bareilles. “And JJ and Sara met each other at a gathering, and JJ said, ‘Have you ever thought about doing a story sort of...
