In the world of anime originals, Juuni Taisen is one that will be one of my many all time favorites in my binging collection. Despite being more story-based as opposed to focusing heavily on the violence and combat, I feel like the writers did a great job meshing these both together into an emotional, but also hard hitting thriller that doesn't fail to keep viewers hooked. It's also fascinating looking into how the story focuses on considerably more modern problems and ideologies, like the horrors of war, and what peace means to the world. Pair this with a great voice acting cast and even better animation, and all in all, you have a perfect original.
Without spoiling it, i can tell you that each episode is basically focused on one of the fighters. This formula gets kinda annoying in its predictability after a while, you'll see why.
The fights are kinda cool, the intro is a blast, and the animation is very good.
As a final note, i watched it when it was airing, so i had to wait a week in between episodes, but i feel like binging it is the way to go. If you like action anime, you can't go wrong with this one!
Definitely worth watching if you like a bit of crazy mixed in with all types genre. This series melds in a whole bunch of ideas and story tropes and then breaks them to the best. A bunch of killers are invited to a contest to compete against each other. Simple premise. There a lot out there with premise for the past few years, but this one is very good.
I watched the show in day, basically binged it. There is nothing that i found particularly good or bad. The concept is kind of unoriginal and the characters themselves are bland with only a few defining attributes which becomes boring after a while. It is a good idea executed in a very uninspired way. The show is rather fun to watch and it keeps pulling you to watch more ( without cliffhangers) but all in all it did not leave a big impression on me and it did not make me think about it afterwards. If you are bored and just want something to pass the time, this is excellent for that occasion.
These series doesn't advertise itself as being anything else so there's no reason to be upset that it doesn't have some in-depth story to follow.
This is an anime about 12 fighters in a battle to the death just as it advertises. I wasn't expecting much but they still managed to paint each characters personality and back story into the episodes. The stories were actually good and interesting and gave some depth to the fighters so it just wasn't senseless killing.
Some fighters were more Noble than others and some smarter than others. In the end the series a decent watch for me. The final episode felt like it wasn't needed but I guess they put it on there to make sense of the other 11 episodes.
What I did like about the series is that every episode title was some kind of proverb that related to the episode in some way. That was unique.
I don't have many other complaints about the series. Its message was clear that it was about good and evil and moral choices about life and death when it comes to humanity and its never ending power struggles.
I gave this a 6 because I felt it needed more episodes to build up to the battle. I wasn't a fan of the backstory and then watching that specific featured character die. It took out any idea of suspense.
I can see why some would dislike this animie if they went into it expecting something other than a story about fighting and killing to be a victor. There are quite a few anime's I've seen like this and non ever seem to be all that amazing or all that bad. Usually a solid 6 or 7 for these type of shows.
Also one thing I couldn't get my head around was why were the characters outfits so random and terrible looking?
