The Lowe Files

This series is surprisingly easy to watch with Rob Lowe as the likable dad traipsing around California tracking ghosts and paranormal activities with his two skeptical, college age sons. I usually avoid programs purporting to uncover the spirits of dead people using strange and often ridiculous gadgets, flashing lights and squeaky noises. But, this show offers a tongue-in-cheek look at the supernatural with a bonus opportunity for viewers to see historical sites throughout the state. Watching Rob Lowe interact with his sons reveals a happy family enjoying time spent together offering a unique opportunity for viewers to see seemingly well-adjusted Hollywood kids, normal and healthy.

I enjoyed it. The first episode had better evidence than a lot of paranormal shows I've seen. I like the idea of father son adventures, there seems to be actual bonding happening. I know they seemed a little bored at first, but the kids actually grew on me when I saw them pick up on it. The bonding made the second episode good, no evidence of bigfoot but the kids genuinely looked like they had a good experience.

No they're not an expert paranormal team, but who is? Maybe the show is something for a family to sit around the tv and have some bonding themselves, look in to what they've done as a family and maybe decide to go camping. I think they have as much equipment and experts on as any other show has, so not sure why that would be an issue with anybody. Give it a chance and watch it with family, a lot of people don't have that option.

I don't know what programme the other reviewers here are reviewing, but it certainly can't have been The Lowe Files. I've watched the first three episodes (I only stuck with the third because it was shown as the second half of a double-bill, and there was nothing else on for that half-hour), and that's more than enough for me. It's beyond me how a programme with a running time of 24 minutes maximum, can spend the first 12 of them showing the Lowes dithering about who gets to ride shotgun, why they didn't get any cups with their meal - the ordering of which we get to see in every detail - , and who'll be first to get seasick. I've seen minute-long trailers for programmes with more content and substance than this abysmal ego-massage for the constantly mugging to camera Rob Lowe and his tedious bickering sons. It's blatantly obvious why this tripe didn't get a second season.

I will admit to never really being the greatest Rob Lowe fan, but he may just have changed my mind. It is not just about paranormal/legends/urban myths but much more. It is about family, adventure, having fun, discovery and relationships. It is far too short and if they do make more I hope they increase the length. The relationship between Rob and his sons is a joy to watch as well as a healthy amount of scepticism. The late night showing is obvious due to the subject matter and language. I for one hope there is a second series where both the investigations and familial relationships can be developed more. It doesn't take itself seriously like other shows of the same kind and is a breath of fresh air in a very stale genre.

Great show. Leaves the acting beind and gets real. I was worried some of his superb acting skills would come out and it would be ghost adventure style(fake).

It is an honest reaction to real life paranormal investigating! I honestly thought we would get a half dozen seasons out of this show! Charismatic, family fun, just all around a great show cut too short.
