Hesperia

Gritty and harsh, that's Hesperia for you. A thriller set in the desert, drugs and crime. Great acting, some stunning scenery, a really cool film for an indie production!

There's not much here that plays out how you'd expect. This film could have easily fallen into predictable beats, but managed to circumvent expectations at virtually every turn in a way that is brutal without being graphic, and manages to comment on both of the circular nature's of its 2 subplots/themes.

Not what you expect, and definitely worth the watch!

I'm a total sucker for home invasion thrillers, so I was already half in the bag. But the production has a slick enough look and the acting and story are all solid enough to compare with some larger budgeted fare. Enjoyed it quite a bunch.

I really enjoyed how this movie portrayed the juxtaposition of aggression with vulnerability. There's a nice color pallet that's used in the film to really draw the viewer into the mood and characters emotional state. It's a bold script, filled with grit, and is a wonderful example of fine indie filmmaking.

Started off well with the 2 gangbangers but descended in utter rubbish.
