I love watching this movie especially since James Maslow who played Caleb Green is one of my favorite actors and singer ever since he was with the group Big Time Rush.
The premise of a reporter doing a hit piece is fairly common, but then having her try to bring romance to her two targets is a twist on that. But it never lives up to the possibilities it starts out with. And the scheming gets convoluted.
And Allie is a jerk. I like what the reviewer said about her busting up the lovers holding hands during her jog, but the other things she does and her whole attitude cement the issue. She's a liar, a schemer and deserves to be sued. I'm not a fan of entertainment reporters. At one point she says something about the "pap" (paparazzi) as if that's not her, but it is. She seems to be the perfect example. What makes it worse is that she seems to like Carson and still can't keep herself from scheming behind her back.
Allie (Haley Webb) and Caleb (James Maslow) spend almost no time together through at least half the movie, except for what are really casual conversations with a little bite in them. And even in the second half, there is basically only one encounter to develop the romance. If there was any chemistry there I didn't care.
Now Carson (Britney Underwood) - her story I wanted to see. She's a sweet girl. Her relationship with Matty should have been the focus of the movie, but that wouldn't have fit the premise. It is a strong secondary story which allowed me to add a few stars.
The acting isn't good. None of the actors seem natural. Underwood is a little too bubbly. Webb is trying too hard. Webb's Allie is supposed to be pretending, but Webb makes that too obvious.
The last part is so predictable it's anticlimactic.
Can people really change their spots. This kind of movie always says yes. But in Allie's case, it was asking too much.

This one just didn't work because the heroine is not a good person. And I'm not even talking about her betraying her friends and her lying all for a fake story that will advance her career as a tabloid journalist.
How do I know she's not a good person? In the first scene before all the mess she created even happened, she is running down the sidewalk in her town for her daily work out. She comes upon two innocent pedestrians holding hands and sauntering along. Instead of going around them with a smile and an apology, she bust right through them practically knocking one of them down. She doesn't even stop. She just goes on running while the victims are looking after her in disbelief. I mean, WTF? Who does that? This is not only rude, it is practically assault and battery. Can we get one of her heartfelt apologies and expressions of regret for her just being an entitled jerk, please?

I'm serious. I love chick flicks but this was the cringiest movie ever. The actors tried but all in all it was bad. You should save your time and find something other to watch. Even ft it's a blank wall.
The two leads were so mismatched beyond belief. The male lead is in fact 5 years younger than his co-star, and boy did it show ! He looked about 15 while she could have played his mother. And was that HIS voice doing the singing ? because it sounded very much like a female it was so light and airy fairy.
Like most of these Hallmark films, the story was implausible, but this one took the biscuit. Here was this 'homely' looking character (age difference aside) that this young pop star was going to fall in love with, er, I don't think so, and certainly not with all the more attractive females around him.
The casting directors need to up their game methinks.
