Lifetime is bringing the story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard to the screen. The network has announced a three-night documentary event, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard for premiere in early 2024.
The six-hour special, debuting as two-hour episodes on January 5, 6 and 7 at 8pm Et/Pt, features unprecedented access to Blanchard, a victim of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy who suffered horrific abuse and made national headlines for her role in her mother’s violent murder. The docu special provides Blanchard “the platform to share her story, her way,” says Lifetime. You can watch the trailer below.
Currently still incarcerated, Blanchard is set for release in December and “is finally ready to tell her truth before she becomes a free woman for the first time in her life,” according to the release.

The D.C. sniper attacks were a tragic event in which John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo took the lives of 10 people and wounded three others. Several documentaries, such as I, Sniper and Catching Killers, focus on the D.C. sniper attacks and explore the timeline leading up to the shootings, the manhunt, and the court case. The perspectives of family members, like Mildred Muhammad in Monster in My Family and The D.C. Sniper's Wife, shed light on the personal impact of the attacks and provide insight into the transformation of John Allen Muhammad from a caring husband to a killer.
Content Warning: This article contains discussions of murder and gun violence.
Like with many notorious true-crime events, a D.C. sniper documentary being produced was inevitable after the tragic shootings that occurred in Washington D.C. in October 2002. Conducted by 41-year-old John Allen Muhammad and 17-year-old Lee Boyd Malvo,...
