Karem, la posesión

"Karem, la posesión" is the first movie I see in the cinema this year 2022 and it was a total disappointment. The script is set in the '80s and has tribute scenes to classic horror movies such as "The Exorcist", "Carrie", "The Amityville Horror", "The Shining", etc., but these tributes are misled by the movie director. In addition, the script is full of unlikely situations, bad dialogue and jump scares that do not fulfill their mission. The cast is good but their performances are not credible, the terrible work of the director is notorious. The special effects are so bad that they make you laugh. The art direction and costume design try to recreate the 1980s but fail miserably. Cinematography tries to fulfill its mission but does not quite achieve it. A bad movie without more.

This movie does not cause much terror despite belonging to that genre.

The script is very boring, since in almost the entire film nothing shocking happens, as well as there is no good development of the story or the characters, the editing does not help either since you cannot see anything in the dark scenes and also all the scenes are cut very suddenly. The story is very clichéd, but I think the ending manages to be a bit shocking and unexpected, even though it doesn't look very good. The special effects are horrible, the lighting is terrible, the performances are not bad but not good either, most of the horror moments made me laugh instead of scared, although the production design and the costume design make us feel in the era where it is set the story.

It is a horror film that is neither surprising nor frightening, although some scenes look good and may be shocking to the audience, they are not enough to sustain this unsubstantiated and uninteresting story.
