Ahead of their San Diego Comic-Con panel, Blumhouse and Universal Pictures quietly revealed Skeet Ulrich will be appearing in the highly anticipated sequel to the hit video game adaptation. The actor shocked the crowd in Hall H, joining the cast on stage to share his excitement for the film, although he said he couldn't tell the audience who he'll be playing. Ulrich and Matthew Lillard costarred as the original pair of Ghostfaces in Wes Craven's original 1996 slasher.

Hulk Hogan, the blond and boisterous body-slammer who brought pro wrestling into the mainstream in the 1980s while becoming one of the most recognizable celebrities of his generation, died Thursday. He was 71.

Hogan’s death was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by promoter Eric Bischoff, his partner in the recently launched Real America Freestyle amateur wrestling league. TMZ reported that medical personnel were sent to his home in Clearwater, Florida, with operators stating it regarded a “cardiac arrest.”

“The Hulkster” headlined WrestleMania eight times, with perhaps his most memorable bout in the WWE’s signature event coming in 1987 against the 520-pound Andre the Giant — his mentor — in the Pontiac Silverdome before a then-record crowd of 93,173.

He won the World Wrestling Entertainment championship six times during his career.

Guillermo del Toro built a monster in Toronto, so four soundstages on the city’s waterfront have been renamed for the horror meister ahead of his latest movie, Frankenstein, lurching onto Netflix in November.

Cinespace Studios at its Marine Terminal Campus designated the four production spaces as “The Guillermo del Toro Stages.” And on Thursday, del Toro was handed the ceremonial keys to city of Toronto after the Oscar-winning director shot a host of movies at the Marine Terminal, including Nightmare Alley and Cabinet of Curiosities.

“The renaming of these stages is a testament to Guillermo’s impact and deep ties to the Toronto film industry and his commitment to storytelling,” Eoin Egan, co-ceo of Cinespace Studios, said in a statement.

For Frankenstein, the Marine Terminal, which has served as a production hub for Netflix, had a full-scale ship floating in the waters off Lake Ontario for the maestro of monsters’ movie shoot.

Anne Burrell died by suicide, according to the New York Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The chief medical examiner listed the cause of death as “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine” (per the New York Times).

Burrell, a former restaurant chef who hosted the Food Network‘s “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef” and co-hosted “Worst Cooks in America,” was discovered unconscious and unresponsive in her Brooklyn home on June 17. Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene. She was 55.

Beginning on Food Network on “Iron Chef,” Burrell served as sous-chef to Mario Batali from the show’s beginning in 2005. She competed on “The Next Iron Chef Super Chefs” and was a contestant on “Chopped All-Stars Tournament.” Her first headlining act came in 2010 as a co-host and mentor on the first season of the network’s “Worst Cooks in America,” which she led for 27 of its 28 seasons.

Rene Kirby, an actor known for his work in “Shallow Hal” died on July 11 in Burlington, Vermont. He was 70.

His brother Jon confirmed to Seven Days that Kirby had died at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Kirby was hospitalized for two months with kidney, bladder and esophagus issues, as well as multiple infections. Kirby had previously survived throat cancer, but lost the ability to speak after the removal of his larynx.

Born in Vermont, Kirby was born with spina bifida, a condition that causes scoliosis, leg paralysis, and difficulty walking. After earning state titles in swimming and skiing, Kirby worked with Ibm for 20 years. While living in Vermont, Kirby was scouted by Peter Farelly while he was directing “Me, Myself and Irene” in 1999. After the pair met, Farelly decided to cast Kirby in “Shallow Hal,” where he played a character named Walt alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black.

A Hulu drama series set in the world of the NFL has drafted its first actor.

Christopher Meloni will star in the series, which comes from Paradise and This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman. Disney’s 20th Television, where Fogelman is based, and Skydance Sports are producing the show.

Details about the show are being kept under wraps, but sources say it’s set against the backdrop of the National Football League and will feature generations of a family. Meloni is set to play the head coach of a team.

Meloni also has another lead role in TV, on Law & Order: Organized Crime at Peacock. The show wrapped its fifth season (and first as a streaming-only series after four on NBC) in June; Peacock hasn’t made a renewal decision yet. Should Organized Crime continue, however, he could take part in both series.

Two more stars have joined the cast of the new Hunger Games movie as production begins!

On Friday (July 25), it was announced that The Bubble actress Iris Apatow and Young Royals actor Edvin Ryding have been cast in the upcoming Lionsgate movie The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

The two actors, both 22, will be playing Proserpina and Vitus, “two Capitol University students assigned to the prep team for the District 12 Tributes,” according to Variety.

Suzanne Collins‘ newest book, which was released in March, follows a young Haymitch Abernathy (originally played by Woody Harrelson in the film franchise) and his journey in the Fiftieth Annual Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 20, 2026, with Francis Lawrence returning to direct.
