David Massey, the veteran record executive who re-launched the legendary record label Arista Records, is retiring from the company after seven years at the helm, Sony Music announced on Monday.

Massey will stay on through the end of June. Sony Music hasn’t announced Massey’s replacement but confirmed that there’s a succession plan, and that Arista would remain a standalone label within the Sony system.

“It has been a great honor to spend this chapter of my career back at Sony Music, working with Rob Stringer, a visionary executive for whom I have the utmost admiration, and with the extraordinary Sony family worldwide,” Massey said in a statement. “Having started the label from scratch nearly seven years ago, I am so proud of the achievements of the team at Arista and our great young artists. I know that Arista will go from strength to strength in the future.

Chris Pine found the recording process for his musical number in the movie Wish to be difficult, but he enjoyed the challenge. The star had to go back and re-record certain moments in order to "fine-tune" the song. Pine says he appreciated the music and lyrics written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice, and he wanted to honor their talent.

Wish star Chris Pine has shared how he perfected his musical number. The new Disney animated movie, which explains the backstory of the studio's iconic wishing star, features Pine as the capricious King Magnifico, who hoards the wishes of the people of the kingdom of Rosas. The movie musical, which features songs by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice with contributions from Jp Saxe, includes Pine delivering the patter-based villain number "This is the Thanks I Get."

A new featurette from Wish, the next animated feature by Walt Disney Animation Studios, brings a new look to King Magnifico, the character voiced by Chris Pine in the upcoming project. Presenting a new song called "This Is The Thanks I Get?!", the actor can be seen performing in the recording booth while audiences get a sneak peek at how the musical sequence will look like once the film premieres in theaters in the United States on November 22. John Mayer has kicked off the fall 2023 leg of his “Solo” tour, in which he is taking the stage in arenas around the country and playing shows all by himself.

The solo acoustic tour began in the spring and was such a success that John added a second leg to the tour.

Julia Michaels is recovering after recently having her gallbladder removed.

The “What A Time” singer, 29, revealed she had the organ — which “sits below your liver on the upper right side of your abdomen,” as per Mayo Clinic — removed in a Friday Instagram post.

“Two weeks without a gallbladder now and finally feeling so much better,” Michaels captioned a pic of her winking. “Thank you and lots of kisses to everyone that reached out and checked on me.”

H.E.R. and Ingrid Andress will join the star-studded performer lineup for the 2021 CMT Awards while Anthony Mackie, Busy Philipps, Iliza Shlesinger and Michael Strahan have been added as presenters, the network announced Monday (June 7).

The two artists will duet with previously announced performers: Fast-rising R&b star H.E.R. will continue her musical expansion by singing with Chris Stapleton (with whom she recently recorded), while Andress will share the stage for the first time with pop singer Jp Saxe. Likewise, Lindsay Ell has been added to perform with Lady A and Carly Pearce.
