All American Season 8 Officially Renewed & It'll Be The Last One
Image
The CW show All American’s season 8 renewal comes with some sad news about the fate of the show. The sports drama All American is the last scripted show on the CW from before Nexstar's acquisition, and the show is widely considered one of the greats. Even though Daniel Ezra's Spencer James was originally the focus of the show, many characters exited before All American, forcing the show to shift focus to Michael Evans Behling's Jordan, Greta Onieogou's Layla, and Bre-z's Coop in season 7.

Not even a major narrative change could keep the series down, with All American season 7's cliffhanger ending keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. Luckily, just one month after the release of season 7's finale, Varietyhas confirmed that All American will return for season 8, which will unfortunately be its last. The showrunner, Nkechi Okoro Carroll made an emotional statement...

It is so hard to say goodbye to the thing that you love, but we are so excited we get to do it in the way we envisioned with this final season. TV, Berlanti Productions and shworunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll will close its run with 132 episodes; its eight seasons will rank among the five longest-running scripted series in the network’s history (not counting seasons of Upn or The WB shows that aired prior to those networks merging to form The CW).

Popular CW Sports Drama Returns To Netflix's Top 10 US Streaming Charts As Wait For Season 8 Continues
Image
A popular sports drama on The CW returns to Netflix's Top 10 US streaming charts at the wait for season 8 of the long-running series continues. The streaming platform is home to a multitude of sports-related content, from Netflix original sports documentaries like football docuseries Last Chance U, to dramas like the wrestling series Glow. These original productions are just small parts of the larger ecosystem of Netflix, some of which also focuses on other shows and movies found in their sports category.

Another constant of the platform has been hosting content from other places, with one focus being primetime TV shows on various networks. The CW shows on Netflix, for example, has been a long-standing part of the streaming service, with everything from the Arrowverse shows, to The 100, to Supernatural having a home on the platform. Why NBC Canceled Shanola Hampton's Found After Two Seasons
Image
Fans of NBC's mystery series "Found" are going to have to look elsewhere to get their dose of fictional missing persons cases now that the series has been canceled by the network after two seasons. As was reported by Deadline, the show will not be returning for a season 3, meaning the season 2 finale will serve as the series finale.

According to a separate report from Variety, Warner Bros. Television, which produces "Found," is going to see if it can find a new home for the show, be it a streaming service or another network. This sort of thing has happened plenty of times in the past, like when "Designated Survivor" went from ABC to Netflix or "Lucifer" moved from Fox to Netflix. So, while it's possible, for the time being fans need to come to grips with the fact that Gabi Mosely may well be retired.

"Found" itself centers...

‘Found’: Is [Spoiler] Dead? Boss Reveals What Would’ve Happened in Season 3
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Found series finale “Missing While Dying.”] Well, now we’ll never know if Found really just killed off Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) in what ended up being its series finale. The NBC drama was canceled just one day after the penultimate episode of Season 2 aired. The series finale wrapped up with Sir possibly dead — Trent (Brett Dalton) found him seriously injured and bleeding in his cell — and Gabi (Shanola Hampton) confessing to the world that she’d held him in her basement (after he’d kidnapped her as a child). Below, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll breaks down the finale and teases what we could have seen next. Plus, read a deep dive into the finale with Shanola Hampton here. (Note: This interview was conducted prior to Found‘s cancellation.) When did you know you were going to end Season 2 with Gabi telling the world she held Sir in her basement just...

NBC’s Surprise Cancellation of ‘Found’ Sees Fans Rally to Rescue Show
Image
As several network shows tied off their seasonal runs, it meant that networks had to make some tough decisions regarding which shows stayed on and which got the ax. NBC is no different. The network axed several shows, including Night Court and the legal drama, Suits LA, and somewhat surprisingly, the procedural thriller,Found, was also cancelled. The show has two episodes left, with no heads up from the network, the cancellation decision has caused some uproar. A full-throttle campaign has been launched by fans, cast members, and even industry players to see the show rescued by other platforms and given another lease of life.

The first season premiered in 2023 with a strong premiere that drew 10.5 million viewers across platforms. Found introduced audiences to Gabi (Shanola Hampton), a professional at Mosely and Associates, a firm dedicated to finding missing people especially the numerous number that fall through the cracks of the criminal justice system.

NBC's TV Show Canceling Spree Continues as Crime Drama Series Gets the Axe After 2 Seasons
Image
The crime-drama Found, which premiered on NBC in 2023, won’t be getting a third season on the network. Per Deadline, the series led by Shameless alum Shanola Hampton has been canceled. However, hope is not lost yet for fans of Found as the series may be shopped around by its lead studio, Warner Bros. Television.

News of the series’ cancellation comes ahead of its May 15 Season 2 finale, which will now serve as the end to the show. The finale has already been teased as a confrontation between Hampton’s Gabi Mosley and Sir’s (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) sister Lena, played by Danielle Savre.

Found is NBC’s latest victim in the network’s cutback on entertainment programming, which aims to accommodate 180 primetime hours of NBA basketball next season. NBCUniversal inked a $2.5 billion deal with the NBA to air games next season.

Could ‘Found’ Be Saved After Cancellation?
Image
Found is lost, but its cancellation at NBC might not be the end of the story. Warner Bros. Television is reportedly seeking a new home for the procedural drama. As Variety reported Found’s cancellation on Friday, May 9, the publication cited an individual “with knowledge of the situation” who said Warner Bros. Television, which produced the show alongside Universal Television, intends to shop the show to other outlets. Deadline, meanwhile, reported speculation that Wbtv is putting Found on the market. Found starred Shanola Hampton as public relations specialist Gabi Mosely, who leads a crisis management team searching for overlooked missing individuals. But one missing individual is Hugh “Sir” Evans (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), Gabi’s childhood kidnapper, whom she had imprisoned in her basement. In the Season 1 finale, Sir escaped and went from Gabi’s biggest secret to her biggest threat. Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, and Karan Oberoi costarred in the series,...

NBC Cancels Found Ahead Of The Season 2 Finale
Image
Foundhas been cancelled by NBC after just two seasons. It's been a difficult day for viewers of the network's primetime lineup, as several dramas and comedies have been axed from the network in just a matter of hours. Night Court, Lopez vs. Lopez, and Suits: LA have all been cancelled. Two other series, which seemed to have a promising chance to be renewed, have arrived at the end of the road.

Deadline has confirmed that the missing persons' crime drama Found has been cancelled by NBC. Warner Bros. Television, which produces the Shanola Hampton-led show, may consider finding a new home for the project. Although executives at Warner Bros. TV were optimistic about the show's renewal chances, it was reported that steep viewership declines and shifting budget priorities factored into the cancellation decision. The Irrational was also cancelled by NBC, after two seasons, for similar reasons.

The Fate of 'Found' Has Finally Been Decided by NBC
Image
After two seasons, NBC made the decision to lose Found. Among several cancellations at NBC like Night Court and Suits LA, unfortunately, the weekly procedural thriller also just didn’t make the cut, with NBC deciding the title will come to an end after its second season wraps in a few weeks. With just two episodes left and no heads-up given, it’s likely that the finale will leave audiences on a cliffhanger that will never get resolved. After a whirlwind season that has so far seen Gabi (Shanola Hampton) lose the upper hand on her ex-captor, Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the cancellation will come as a punch in the gut to audiences who have been eager to follow the pair’s cat and mouse game.

First debuting in the fall of 2023, Found introduced viewers to a different kind of procedural. While many similar titles have followed the police as they work on cracking a case,...

‘Found’ Canceled After Two Seasons at NBC
Image
“Found” has canceled at NBC after two seasons, Variety has confirmed.

The drama series originally debuted on NBC in 2023. Shanola Hampton leads the cast, which also includes Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta and Karan Oberoi.

The official description of the series states:

“In any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about. Public relations specialist Gabi Mosely (Hampton), who was once herself one of those forgotten ones, and her crisis management team make sure there is always someone looking out for the missing. Gabi, however, has a chilling secret: In the midst of grief, she imprisoned her childhood kidnapper, Sir (Gosselaar). Now Sir has escaped and is on the loose, and her biggest secret is now her biggest threat.”

‘Found’ Canceled By NBC After 2 Seasons
Image
Exclusive: Found will not be getting a third season at NBC. The series, starring Shanola Hampton, may be shopped by its lead studio Warner Bros. Television.

The news comes ahead of the Season 2 finale, which has been teased as a showdown of sorts between Gabi (Hampton) and Sir’s sister Lena (Danielle Savre). The episode, which will now serve as a series finale, airs on May 15.

Found was canceled today alongside fellow NBC sophomore drama The Irrational. Coming from different studios, Found from Warner Bros. TV and The Irrational from Universal Television, the two series had similar runs.

Held as strike contingency, both shows launched in fall 2023 amid a dearth of scripted originals on the broadcast networks. Taking advantage of the lesser competition and potent lead-ins, The Voice (Monday) for The Irrational and The Voice (Tuesday) for Found, the dramas started off well on NBC and Peacock. The crime drama, directed by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, airs its Season 2 finale on Thursday, May 15, with the “Missing While Dying” episode, which, fortunately for fans, Shanola Hampton, who leads the series as Gabi Mosely, has shared a few details about via an interview with TV Insider.

As described by its logline, the twenty-second episode of Found Season 2 will see someone from Dhan's (Karan Oberoi) past resurface, looking for their missing wife and triggering Dhan's trauma. At the same time, M&a mobilizes to track down one of their own as Gabi (Hampton) barters with her life while Heather's (Danielle Savre) actions lead to a bold declaration. All American Season 7’s “Symbolic” Cliffhanger & What It Means For Season 8 Explained By Showrunner
Image
Warning! Spoilers for the All American season 7 finale!

All American season 7's cliffhanger ending could impact season 8, according to showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll. The hit CW show debuted in 2018 and follows the story of a rising star football player from Crenshaw, recruited to play for a Beverly Hills high school team. All American season 7 season 7 ended with a playoff match between Beverly High Eagles and South Crenshaw Chargers, with the former down by four going into the final play of the game. The final stages of the episode saw quarterback Kj throw a long pass, with credits rolling before viewers learned the ball's destination.

Now, in an interview with TV Line, Carroll opens up on the decision to end the episode (and season) on a cliffhanger, despite no confirmation that the series will be renewed. She discusses how the games between Beverly and Crenshaw always take a more personal turn,...

‘All American’ Showrunners Break Down Kj’s Choice and That Season 7 Cliffhanger
Image
Spoilers ahead for “All American” Season 7, Episode 13

In some other showrunners’ hands, it would be tempting to end Season 7 of “All American” by focusing on this long-running drama’s fan favorites rather than its new cast. That’s not the approach Nkechi Okoro Carroll and Jamie Turner took. It’s a deliberate choice that shows how committed they are to this new story and the central ethos of their show.

“While it’s a multi-generational show, always our entry point and main focus is through the lens of our youth. For us, bringing the story back around to the youth and how they deal with the fallout from the decisions the adults made was very much intentional,” Carroll told TheWrap.

Every season of “All American” has ended on a major cliffhanger, but Season 7’s is especially shocking. After spending a season chronicling the relationship between South Crenshaw High coach Jordan...

The seventh season of All American is tantalizingly close to wrapping up its run with the season finale episode billed to air on Monday, May 5 on The CW. The sports drama has undergone enormous change during its current season, with changing plotlines, and the substitution of previous mainstays, including Daniel Ezra's Spencer James. Despite all the new faces, the show has been able to maintain its appeal with some beloved cast members from the show's past, most notably Samantha Logan's Olivia Baker and her twin brother, Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), returning to keep the show going, with Tamia "Coop" Cooper (Bre-z), also playing a major role.

WWE’s Trick Williams to Guest Star on ‘All American’ Season 7 Finale (Exclusive)
Image
Trick Williams, a breakout star in WWE’s Nxt brand, is set for a guest star role in “All American.”

Variety has learned exclusively that Williams will appear in the Season 7 finale of The CW football drama. Williams will play Eddie Blair, the Athletic Director of South Crenshaw High. The role actually marks a return to the show for Williams, who previously worked as an extra during the show’s third season.

“I am super excited to be a part of this new season of ‘All American,'” Williams said. “They treated me like royalty, put me in my own trailer, and made sure I looked top tier. I really appreciated that because four years ago, I was working as an extra–as a kicker–for South Crenshaw. To come back as the Ad for Crenshaw is super surreal and a true full-circle moment for me. Found’s Gabrielle Walsh & Arlen Escarpeta Tease Lacey & Zeke’s Shifting Dynamic, Jamie Mystery, and More!

If you think you love Found‘s Lacey and Zeke as individual characters, it may pale in comparison to how fond you may be of their portrayals.

They’re incredibly talented, passionate artists who have nothing but the utmost respect for their characters, craft, the series, and one another, and it’s a pleasure to see and hear this respect in action.

TV Fanatic had the privilege of catching up with Walsh and Escarpeta to discuss the evolution of their characters during Found Season 2, the shift in the dynamic between Lacey and Zeke, and so much more.

(Mark Hill/NBC)

If you’ve been tuning into this incredible series, you’d know that Found Season 2 is, as I described it to the pair, “all gas with no brakes.”

The season has been absolute madness, as they’ve pulled out all the stops and gone in so many directions we couldn’t have anticipated.

How ‘All American’ & ‘Found’ Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll Navigates An Uncertain Network TV Landscape
Image
Exclusive: Nkechi Okoro Carroll rests her All American high tops on the conference table, sipping a cherry Coke Zero as she settles into the writers room to hear a pitch.

It’s September, and her writers-assistant-turned-staff-writer is spearheading his first episode since he joined full time. Just a few moments ago, Okoro Carroll was stomping her feet on the ground along with the rest of her writers to send him some positive energy before his pitch. The room, which she doesn’t get to visit as much as she’d like to anymore, can be a bit “unhinged,” she’d warned.

This early in Season 7, the foundations were still being laid for a new generation of characters to take over, after much of the principal cast exited the series at the end of Season 6, including star Daniel Ezra.

On the wall, next to an outline of the season, there’s...

It’s like, ‘Wait, we’re the underdogs?'” executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll teased to TV Insider. “The fact that there’s very little expectation of them does not sit well with natural competitors. ‘All American’ Head Didn’t Know Season 7 Would Work Until She Saw One Star-Making Audition
Image
Heading into the seventh season of “All American,” series showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll was nervous. The pressure was on to make a dynamic and addicting series about a group of young people trying to achieve the impossible, only this time around, The CW original had to do it without their leading character, Daniel Ezra’s Spencer James.

“The challenge was, are we going to find characters that we care about?” Carroll told TheWrap. She was still anxious about whether or not this new installment would work right up until the point that Nathaniel McIntyre walked into his audition. “I’m just like, ‘Wait a minute. Oh, done. He’s a star,'” Carroll said of the actor she cast as Kingston “Kj” Jeremy, a promising young football player who moves to Beverly Hills as his parents are on the brink of divorce.

‘All American’ Boss on Why She Hit Reset for Season 7, Plans to Bring Back ‘Almost Every Member of the Vortex’ for Cameos
Image
“All American” may have looked a little different when it returned for Season 7 on Jan. 29 — but it doesn’t feel different. That was the whole goal of creator and executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll who made the choice to shake things up in a big way.

“Daniel Ezra and I had talked about the plan for when we sort of felt Spencer’s journey was complete, and what that completion looked like. We went into Season 6, and I knew I was writing that as his final season. That was kind of the moment when I started to think, does the show wrap up then? But I thought no, there are so many amazing stories, so many characters whose journeys I’m still invested in, with the transition from young adulthood to adulthood for some of our other Og characters,” Carroll tells Variety.

Then she went to Starbucks for a coffee...

Coach Montes: The Heartwarming Way All American Addressed Kamar De Los Reyes' Death, Explained
Image
Throughout its run, All American has said goodbye to some wonderful characters, including Coach Montes (Kamar de los Reyes). The series premiered on October 10, 2018, and has been an integral part of the CW's lineup since, with All American season 7 set to be released in early 2025. Throughout its six-season run, the show saw many cast changes, with its most significant occurring when Spencer James actor Daniel Ezra left All American.

Another important character who had an early exit on the show was Coach Montes, who first appeared in All American season 4 as the head football coach of Coastal California College. Perhaps the biggest impact Coach Montes left on the series as a whole was his relationship with Asher Adams (Cody Christian), as he helped mentor Adams throughout their time on the screen together. Unfortunately, Coach Montes' time on All American was cut short by a personal tragedy that happened away from the series.
