Like London buses, it seems as if two castings have come at once for Paapa Essiedu after months of fans waiting for news. Ten days on from the exciting, albeit expected, confirmation that the actor would be starring as Professor Snape in the new HBO adaptation of the Harry Potter TV series, Essidou is back in the headlines for a new casting announcement, this time teaming up with Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes to star in a brand-new drama for Channel 4, Falling. Speaking of his casting, as cited via Variety, Essidou said, "Falling is a story that has Jack Thorne’s singular talent of mining the sublime out of the ordinary running all the way through. I can’t wait to work with Keeley, Peter and the rest of the team to bring this world to life."

Paapa Essiedu may soon be set to don the dark robes of Severus Snape in HBO’s “Harry Potter” series, but the British actor will first be getting into the black cloth of the clergy.
The “I May Destroy You” and “Black Mirror” star will play a Catholic priest alongside Keeley Hawes as a devoted nun in the Channel 4 drama “Falling,” which marks the first ever love story from BAFTA-winning “Adolescence” writer Jack Thorne. The Forge Entertainment, a Banijay U.K. company, produces.
In “Falling,” Essiedu’s priest and Hawes’ nun are both deeply committed to their work in the church and in their community. Neither are expected to fall in love. But when they do, both are forced to wrestle with what it means for them, their vows, and their relationship with God. A new episode of our What Happened to This Horror Movie? video series has just been released, and with this one we’re taking a look back at the 2012 sci-fi action film Dredd (watch it Here), which is based on the same comic book source material as the 1995 Sylvester Stallone movie Judge Dredd, but took a more faithful approach to the adaptation. You can hear all about it by checking out the video embedded above.
The official word is that Dredd was directed by Pete Travis from a screenplay by Alex Garland, although we were told that Garland actually directed the movie. The film has the following synopsis: The America of the post-apocalyptic future is an irradiated wasteland, a vast, ultraviolent world where criminals control the mean city streets. Ultimate law enforcers like Dredd and his new partner, Anderson, are Judges—the only force battling for justice. Dispatched by the central authority,...

Netflix subscribers often question the how and why of the steamer's decisions to cancel or renew a series. It isn't as easy as it's a well-liked show. The streamer carefully weighs the performance of a new release against how much it costs to make it. One new series in 2024 was well received but sadly canceled, and we think it deserves a second chance. And that's Kaos starring Jeff Goldblum.
Kaos was created by Charlie Covell, known forThe End of the F***ing World, for Netflix. The eight-part mythological dark comedy premiered on the streamer in August 2024 to positive reviews. In October of that year just a couple of months later, Netflix announced that the series was canceled, much to the dismay of viewers who thoroughly enjoyed it.

Se trata de un drama del creador de The End of the F***ing World, Charlie Covell, que toma todo lo que sabemos sobre la mitología griega y le da un giro contemporáneo.

Netflix viewers have descended into Kaos after it was announced that the well-received and deeply ambitious series was canceled after just one season. Written and created by The End of the F***ing World’s Charlie Covell, the eight-part comedy was released on the streaming platform in late August. In a darkly humorous reimagining of Greek mythology, six humans learned that they are parts of an ancient prophecy, clashing with Greek Gods. The star-studded cast included Jeff Goldblum as Zeus (in a tracksuit), Janet McTeer as Queen Hera, Nabhaan Rizwan as their rebellious son Dionysus, Aurora Perrineau as Eurydice, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, David Thewlis as Hades, Rakie Ayola as Persephone, Killian Scott as Orpheus, Debi Mazar as Medusa, Billie Piper as Cassandra, Stephen Dillane as Prometheus, Steven Dillane, and Fady Elsayed. And yet, just two months after its premiere, the cancellation came on Tuesday, October 8. Perrineau initially shared the ungodly...

Tell me if you've heard this one before: barely a month after a new show premiered its first season on Netflix, the streamer has decided to unceremoniously cancel it and chuck it in the bin. In this case, the show is Kaos, a series about Greek mythology set in the modern day, with characters like Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) and Hera (Janet McTeer) lording over Greece while mere humans scramble to worship them. Or at least that's what the humans are supposed to do; Kaos is all about what happens when that system goes off the rails, thanks in no small part to an unhealthy dose of paranoia and broken promises from the gods in charge.
Variety reports that Netfix has decided not to renew Kaos for a second season. It debuted on the platform on August 29, which means this decision comes just over five weeks later. That's a pretty short...

Netflix has decided not to return to Mount Olympus, canceling its series Kaos after a single season.
The decision comes about six weeks after the dark comedy, based on Greek and Roman mythology and created by Charlie Covell (The End of the F***ing World), made its debut on the streamer. Kaos appeared in Netflix’s top 10 charts for English-language series in each of its first four weeks, topping out at No. 3 for the week of Sept. 2-8. It earned 14.9 million views (measured by total viewing time divided by running time) over those weeks, a middling number by the streamer’s standards.
In the United States, the show had 3.34 million views as of Sept. 8, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings (viewing totals for subsequent weeks aren’t yet available).

“Kaos” will no longer reign on Netflix. The streamer has canceled the Greek mythology series, TheWrap has learned. The show hailed from “The End of the F***king World” creator Charlie Covell and put a modern twist on Greek mythology – three humans contend with the corrupt gods as they discover their connection to one another and an overarching prophecy.
Jeff Goldblum played Zeus in the show with Janet McTeer as Hera, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, David Thewlis as Hades, Debi Mazar as Medusa and Stephen Dillane as Prometheus.
The ensemble also included Aurora Perrineau, Leila Farzad, Suzy Eddie Izzard and Rakie Ayola. “Kaos” premiered on Aug. 29, so this is a pretty swift cancellation from Netflix. The show debuted with only 3.4 million views during its first week of release, ticked up to 5.9 million views in its second week and then dipped back down to 3.4 million on its third week.

The best comedy TV shows of 2024 are a combination of new gems and follow-up seasons of existing favorites. Most comedies embody a hyphenated genre, merging elements of drama, action, music, sport, and even documentary with humor. End-of-year awards like the Emmys have a category problem, leaving many viewers wondering, "Wait, that was a comedy?" or "Surely, that was too dark to be a comedy." While these blurred lines also make it harder to demarcate the genre, they mostly make comedies all the more enjoyable.

J.K. Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter books. That makes her one of the most influential storytellers alive, not to mention fabulously wealthy. But over the past several years, she's become better known for her stance on transgender people, peddling in alarmist stereotypes disproven with a glance at the research or just by talking to trans people about their experiences. This has led to some spectacularly weird crossovers, like the time Vladimir Putin took time out from invading Ukaine to express solidarity with Rowling, or engaged in some light Holocaust denial rather than engage withthe facts on record about Nazi persecution of trans people. Recently, Rowling disparaged Olympic boxer Imane Khelif for putting cisgender women in danger during her boxing matches despite Khelif herself being cis. Khelif is now suing Rowling, alongside other people like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, for cyber-bullying. This is definitely the primary issue...

This is either going to be a rousing success or...something very different. HBO is officially casting the three main roles for its upcoming Harry Potter TV show, a from-the-ground-up adaptation of J.K. Greek mythology shows have been popular across various genres for decades, with the epic myths and legends of the ancient civilization recreated for the small screen, or even simply inspiring new stories for the modern era. Greek mythology is regularly adapted for the small screen due to how poetic, tragic, and philosophical it can be. That has allowed it to be relatable for fans of everything from romantic stories to high drama to superhero tales. There are even some Greek mythology shows that hide their inspiration by the myths and legends of Ancient Greece so well most viewers have no idea they're based on millennia-old source material.
Whether it's epic heroes or the gods on Mount Olympus themselves, Greek mythology is notorious for how wild and unpredictable it can be, making it the perfect source material for thrilling TV shows. Even something as seemingly harmless as having an illegitimate child...

Kaos season 2 gets an optimistic and detailed update from creator Charlie Covell. Consisting of eight episodes and debuting on Netflix in late August, Kaos has a dual focus. On one side, there's Zeus (Jeff Goldblum). He's paranoid, beginning to fear the end of his reign as he grows more vengeful towards humanity. It also centers on three humans who discover their connection to an ancient prophecy while battling the corrupt gods of classical mythology.

There's probably no one who milks a long pause, luxuriates in slow, heavy-lidded blinks, or evinces dangling, unspoken thoughts better than actor Jeff Goldblum. Charlie Covell (The End of the F***ing World) and the rest of the team behind Netflix's Kaos know this to be the actor's signature, and they're sure to make sure we know this, too, as we watch every neurotic tic in the actor's arsenal. Goldblum plays Zeus, of course, the head of the Greek pantheon of Gods. He's vain, liable to act impulsively (with violent results), and not entirely unpleasant to spend time with -- even if to watch as he utters half a sentence before swallowing the rest. Sitting somewhere between Jurassic Park's Dr. Ian Malcolm and the character Goldblum plays in those Apartments.com ads, Zeus is a fourth-wall-breaking presence who cannot and will not accept the end of his reign.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Netflix's Kaos
The incredible ensemble cast of Netflix's Kaos gives memorable and hilarious performances, bringing to life Ancient Greek myths with a contemporary twist. The dark comedy Kaos follows Riddy (Eurydice), Ceaneus, and Ari (Ariadne) who are fated to bring down the Greek Gods, led by Jeff Goldblum's Zeus. The series has a sharp script, utilizes exciting cinematography, and incorporates a strong soundtrack all of which help make the series so strong.
However, none of these aspects would have mattered if it weren't for the great performances by the cast. Kaos brings together a large ensemble cast of predominantly well-established actors who masterfully characterize the Greek gods, goddesses, and heroes. However, some actors with smaller portfolios rise to the occasion of representing well-known figures from mythology in Kaos.

A new Netflix series is coming out at the end of the month and the trailer was just released!
Kaos is a new Netflix series created by Charlie Covell, who was also the writer of another Netflix show, The End of the F***ing World.
This new show stars Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, king of the Gods and all powerful. The premise of Kaos is that Zeus has been ruling carefree and never truly felt threatened. That is until a wrinkle on his forehead appears that he believes to be a sign of his inevitable fall from power. While this could all just be Zeus’ paranoia, there may be some truth to his fears when it’s revealed that an old friend turned prisoner, Prometheus, is hatching a plot to destroy him.

Jeff Goldblum is a cruel and decidedly cool King of the Gods and ruler of the world Zeus in the trailer for Netflix’s darkly comic series Kaos.
As Greek mythology gets a modern twist, an increasingly paranoid Goldblum must contend with mortals with powers to bring him down, and a dysfunctional family with powerful siblings scheming and failing among one another in the trailer that dropped on Monday.
“We need to make destruction really sing,” Goldblum, channeling Logan Roy and wearing designer track suits, says at one point in the teaser trailer for the Greek mythology drama from creator and writer Charlie Covell, who earlier wrote the British drama The End of the Fucking World for Netflix.

Netflix has launched the full official trailer for the upcoming series ‘Kaos’ in which Jeff Goldblum plays the role of the all-powerful god, Zeus.
Zeus: King of the Gods, ruler of the world. He’s cruel, stylish and all-powerful.
That is until he’s not. From BAFTA-winning screenwriter and showrunner Charlie Covell (The End Of The F***ing World), Kaos is a bold, darkly comic, contemporary take on Greek mythology: exploring love, power, and life in the underworld.
Having long enjoyed his status as king of the gods, Zeus’s reign has never been truly threatened. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Believing it to be the harbinger of an ancient prophecy which foretells his destruction, neurosis sets in: Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming. As his paranoia takes hold, the god of gods – seeing signs everywhere – starts to dangerously self-destruct.

On the heels of Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ success on Disney+, Netflix has finally dropped the first look at its very own Greek mythology-inspired series titled, Kaos.
The first teaser trailer for Kaos shows Jurassic Park icon Jeff Goldblum portraying the Greek god of thunder and sky, Zeus, who’s facing the impending end of his reign over the world. Just like the Percy Jackson live-action series, Netflix’s fantasy dark comedy will take place in a modern setting, teasing a contemporary twist on Greek mythology. The series is expected to explore themes of gender politics, power, and life in the underworld, as the cruel leader of Mt. Olympus will do everything in his power to retain his position.

Charlie Covell might be known for the successful adaptation of the comic series The End of the F***ing World, but the British writer is currently working on a new show for Netflix, which is going to be released later this year. Kaos is an original work by Covell that is going to be a fantastic, mythology-inspired black comedy that will follow the adventures of Ancient Greek gods in a modern setting. Ahead of this year’s premiere – a release window has not been specified, as of the time of writing – Netflix has released the first trailer for the series as well.
Kaos is going to have eight episodes, as has been confirmed by the streaming service, and will see legendary actor Jeff Goldblum as the ruler of the Greek pantheon, Zeus; Goldblum replaced Hugh Grant, who was initially attached to the role. You can check out what Goldblum looks like...

You know Zeus. Greek god of thunder, curly hair, luscious big beard, turns into a swan? You’ve seen his face on statues in parks and on tile mosaics behind the counter in kebab shops.
That’s not the Zeus in Netflix’s new fantasy drama Kaos, from Charlie Covell, screenwriter of The End of the F***ing World. As played by Jeff Goldblum, the Zeus of Kaos looks more Tony Soprano than beardy all-father. And home-of-the-gods Mount Olympus? Think a lavishly appointed mansion such as you might see on Selling Sunset instead of a bucolic paradise crawling with nymphs and fauns.
Covell’s vision of Greek myth clearly comes with a modern twist, hence Zeus’ Casio watch and leisure suit collection in the first teaser trailer below:
As Goldblum explained at a recent Netflix slate preview event: “One may say it’s about the Gods, but a different version of the Gods.
