Berlin ER is a gripping German medical drama that debuted on Apple TV+ on February 26, 2025. Co-created by former emergency room physician Samuel Jefferson and director Viktor Jakovleski, the series offers an unflinching look into the challenges faced by medical professionals in one of Berlin’s busiest hospitals. With a talented ensemble cast and a storyline that delves deep into both medical emergencies and personal dynamics, Berlin ER promises to be a compelling addition to the genre.
Plot Overview:
The series follows Dr. Zanna Parker, portrayed by Haley Louise Jones, who relocates from Munich to Berlin seeking a fresh start after personal upheavals. She assumes the role of head of the emergency room at a notoriously overcrowded Berlin hospital. As Dr. Parker endeavors to implement much-needed reforms, she encounters resistance from a fatigued and under-resourced staff. The narrative intricately weaves together intense medical cases with the personal struggles and relationships of the hospital team,...

Rom-com queen and Oscar nominee Kate Hudson leads Running Point, a new workplace comedy from executive producers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen about the owners of the Los Angeles Waves, a fictional basketball team modeled after the legendary Lakers (Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis are also EPs). When the team's disgraced president (Emmy winner Justin Theroux) resigns to enter rehab, he names his younger sister, former wild child Isla Gordon (Hudson), as his replacement. Underestimated and overlooked her entire life, Isla sets out to prove to everyone, including brothers Ness (Scott MacArthur) and Sandy (Drew Tarver), the team's general manager and chief financial officer, respectively, that she's the right person for the job. Much like Kaling's other comedies, the 10-episode series (now streaming on Netflix) is an easy, entertaining watch with an excellent ensemble (Brenda Song is a standout as the Waves' chief of...

Berlin ER opens with an arresting portrayal of a high-octane emergency room nestled in Berlin, immediately drawing attention to the interplay between relentless pace and methodical control.
The pilot introduces a world where every second counts, capturing the ceaseless activity of a hospital caught between systemic shortcomings and the human spirit determined to persevere. In the opening moments, a striking image of disoriented urgency sets the tone—a moment that resonates as both raw and meticulously crafted.
The series makes a decisive transition from traditional platforms to a modern streaming service, a move that signals a shift in narrative style and production values.
The arrival of a new leader, whose experience in a different medical realm contrasts sharply with the realities of this chaotic environment, brings a focused tension. This leadership shift highlights an inherent conflict: the collision of time-honored practices with the demands of a contemporary, frenetic emergency setting.

Haley Louise Jones and Slavko Popadić star as Dr. Zanna Parker and Dr. Ben Weber in Apple TV+’s new medical drama Berlin ER. The two talked about their messy characters in their interview with us.
Berlin ER drops us in the middle of a busy and underfunded hospital in Berlin, Germany. Dr. Parker is coming from a life in Munich, which she is desperate to run away from and put behind her. That past is going to catch up to her, but not before she puts her focus on turning things around in an ER that sees the boss quit every few weeks, if they’re lucky to make it that far!
Dr. Weber is one of the ER docs, who is shocked to find out that Parker isn’t just another staff member, but his new boss. He certainly makes a great first impression, as he shows everything...

This article contains spoilers for Sex and the City.
Skipper Johnston (Ben Weber) is a website developer introduced in Sex and the City as Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) friend, and a hopeless romantic. Sure, he falls into the “nice guy” trope, bemoaning how hard it is for guys like him to be taken seriously in the New York dating world, but compared to every other guy introduced in the series’ pilot, he seems genuine, and deserved a better friend than Carrie.
Carrie didn’t have to set him up with Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). In fact, it probably would have been better for everyone if she didn’t. As soon as she offers to introduce them in the first episode of the series, she says in her signature voiceover “Miranda was gonna hate Skipper. She’d think he was mocking her with his sweet nature and decide he was an asshole.

Before Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) and Che Diaz (Sara Ramírez) came along on Sex and the City, there was Skipper Johnston (Ben Weber). He was one of Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) love interests in the first season of Sex and the City and a self-proclaimed “hopeless romantic.” Skipper and Miranda’s romantic relationship was very brief. Miranda was certain from the beginning that Skipper was not her type, but he was persistent. Now that the hit HBO series is available to binge on Netflix, you might be thinking about Skipper again. He only appeared in the first two seasons, but he remains a divisive character amongst Sex and the City fans. Scroll down to get a refresher on all things Skipper Johnston and what Weber’s up to today. What happened to Skipper? Skipper made his first appearance in the pilot episode of Sex and the City. More “Sex and the City” is on the way. Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed yesterday that her iconic onscreen counterpart Carrie Bradshaw would reunite with BFFs Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) for an HBO Max limited series titled “And Just Like That…” (Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones will not be involved). The “new chapter” will follow the three New Yorkers, now in their 50s, as they continue navigating the ups and downs of relationships, friendships, careers and, of course, sex.
“Sex and the City” went off the air in 2002 after six seasons, but Carrie and company’s story continued with two (very divisive) feature films that premiered in 2008 and 2010. That means it’s been over a decade since fans last saw Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte — so there will be lots to catch up on when “And Just Like That…” graces our TV screens later this year.

I had never heard of this comedy-thriller, and the good news is that it’s a pleasant surprise, thoroughly enjoyable. The toughest kind of filmmaking must be making comedy seem effortless, and that’s what Eric Blakeney does in this quirky, near-screwball take on the done-to-death drug deal undercover thriller. Liam Neeson is sensational, and producer Sandra Bullock is at her most charming. Even the flatulence jokes are funny.

In paying tribute to the 20th anniversary of the groundbreaking HBO comedy “Sex and the City,” it seemed like a natural fit to examine the boyfriends, husbands, and other partners on the show. While the series stands out as a tribute to female friendship, the love stories scattered across six seasons often offered a great deal of insight into Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte as well.
For the record, we’re not considering the two films in this ranking, because…. well, they’re bad. More importantly, what they add to the narrative doesn’t really have the same impact as watching these characters develop over the course of seasons; the films made an effort to cram a season’s worth of story into two hours.
12. Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler)
Harry was always unapologetically himself, and the way he tore down Charlotte’s defenses made their love story one of the...
