Put on your detective hats because the 1985 cult classic Clue is making a comeback. Yes, you read that right. In honor of the film’s 40th anniversary, Paramount Pictures is bringing the classic whodunit back to theaters for a limited time only. But fans are in for a killer surprise! Screenings for the film will take place on August 24 through August 26. And here’s the fun part: each showing will feature different endings, similar to how the movie was first released in 1985. Jane Morgan, the elegant American singer who dazzled audiences in Paris nightclubs, on just about every TV variety show of her era and at the Oscars and had a hit record with the lovely standard “Fascination,” has died. She was 101.

Morgan was in hospice care and died Monday in her sleep of natural causes in Naples, Florida, her family announced.

A classy performer known for her silky smooth phrasing, Morgan moved from New York to France in the late 1940s to build her career before returning the U.S. and becoming a very popular singer through the mid-1960s.

She recorded about 40 albums around the world and sang in five languages, making her a true international star.

Jane Morgan Weintraub, singer, nightclub entertainer, Broadway performer and ubiquitous TV presence in 1950s and ’60s, died Monday of natural causes in Naples, Florida. She was 101.

Her family announced her death, saying, “Our beloved Jane passed away peacefully in her sleep.”

As Jane Morgan, the singer was a popular and ubiquitous presence on television variety shows from the Golden Age of the 1950s well through the 1960s and even into the early 1970s. She appeared on The Johnny Cash Show in 1971, where she answered the Man in Black’s “A Boy Named Sue” with “A Girl Named Cash,” which was written for the show by Martin Mull.

The beloved 80s film adaptation of the board game Clue turns 40 this year. And Paramount will be celebrating this occasion with a new physical media release of the film in glorious 4K picture. Blu-ray.com has shared information on the release, but no details yet on special features. The film stars Eileen Brennan, Colleen Camp, Tim Curry, Bill Henderson, Howard Hesseman, Madeline Kahn, Jeffrey Kramer, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Kellye Nakahara, Lee Ving, Lesley Ann Warren, and Jane Wiedlin. The new ultra-high-def disc is due to hit retailers on October 7.

Brad Bird's 1993 animated series "Family Dog" began its life several years earlier as an episode of "Amazing Stories," a Steven Spielberg-produced anthology series that utilized the talents of Clint Eastwood (among many other notable filmmakers). Also titled "Family Dog," the episode aired on February 16, 1987, and featured a cute white terrier of some kind (with its barks provided by Bird) who lived in an ordinary suburb with a white sitcom family. The dog was only ever referred to as "the dog," but his actual name was Jonah. The episode also starred the legendary Stan Freberg as the family patriarch and Annie Potts as his wife. Danny Elfman and Steve Bartek provided the music, with Tim Burton contributing to the short's character designs.

First a beloved weatherman and children’s show host in Indianapolis, David Letterman eventually graduated to becoming a regular on game shows and talk shows in L.A. And after he filled in for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show with great success, NBC’s Fred Silverman gave Letterman his own 90-minute morning show, The David Letterman Show.

Before the new program even premiered, there was trouble. The show’s producer quit days before the show debuted in June 1980, so head writer Merrill Markoe — who had zero talk show experience — stepped into the role. "Clue" from 1985 is arguably the single greatest movie adaptation of a game ever made, whether video, board, tabletop, or children's game. Even 40 years later, it remains not just a hilarious comedy film in its own right, one of the best detective movies of all time, or even just a fantastic way of taking a familiar product and translating the gameplay to the big screen without sacrificing a good narrative. It is also a rather cool and effective experiment.

It's not like this was some small indie film. There was plenty of reason for optimism when it was announced and made. Jonathan Lynn's "Clue" boasts one hell of a comedic cast that includes Michael McKean, Leslie Ann Warren, Eileen Brannan, Martin Mull, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, and Tim Curry.

It follows the barebones premise of the board game: strangers arrive at a mansion and one of them commits a murder.

Over the course of its seven post-Roseanne seasons, The Conners has welcomed a number of celebrity guest stars to the show, including Matthew Broderick, Candice Bergen, Patton Oswalt, Whoopi Goldberg and Dan Aykroyd, who thankfully resisted the urge to bust out his harmonica and force John Goodman into performing a Blues Brothers 2000 reunion concert.

But there are a number of actors from the original Roseanne series who, barring a last-minute cameo on tonight’s series finale, simply never appeared on The Conners.

Executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan addressed some of these absences in a recent interview with TVLine. Tomorrow, the credits will roll on The Conners for the last time when the series celebrates its grand finale. After seven seasons, the show proved that the world of the family from Lanford, Illinois had plenty of staying power even after their matriarch and original series star, Roseanne Barr, was killed off. Over the last few years, fans have caught up with the titular gang of relatives who we first met all the way back in the 80s thanks to a little TV show called Roseanne. During that time, we got to see a new generation of the Conners enter their young adult years, while favorites like Sara Gilbert’s Darlene and Lecy Goranson’s Becky continued into adulthood. At the same time, there were a few beloved characters from the flagship production who fans were upset they never got to see in the follow-up chapter.

Aside from video games, board games also get film and TV adaptations. One of them is Clue (or Cluedo), which was first announced in 2021, then later in 2024 when it was revealed to be an animated series that Sony will release. Unfortunately, this board game project was unable to leave the tabletop setting as it was recently reported that the show was canceled.

Clue's writer Dewayne Perkins revealed in an interview that the show was canceled but didn't give any reason why that was the case. He also didn't shed light on whether anyone else would pick up the project or what was going to happen to the IP. In 2021, it was reported that Fox was developing the Clue TV series, as it partnered with Hasbro and Bento Box Entertainment to make the series. The 2025 Oscars ignited controversy for leaving out actors such as Michelle Trachtenberg, Tony Todd and Olivia Hussey. “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Shannen Doherty was also omitted, which her co-star Jennie Garth called “messed up” when asked by TMZ to give her thoughts on the snub (via People). Garth added that “maybe” the Academy should apologize to Doherty’s family for the exclusion.

Garth and Doherty became teen icons together as stars of “Beverly Hills, 90210.” They were both series regulars for four seasons. Doherty exited the series before Season 5. Garth continued for all 10 seasons. They later reunited as their characters, Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh, for appearances on The CW’s “90210” reboot.

Doherty died in July 2024 after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. In June 2023, she said she had been receiving radiation for cancer that had spread to her brain. She became a popular podcast host in the years...

The Academy Awards ceremony took place on Sunday night, and as with every year, the show featured an In Memoriam segment honoring some of the movie stars and creatives who've passed away since last year's show. Some keys were left out, with fans of horror legend Tony Todd disappointed not to see the actor included after his passing in November.

Per TMZ, Todd's family has since weighed in on the Candyman star's absence from the In Memoriam segment. The actor's widow, Fatima, said she was left feeling "angry" after the snub. She reportedly believes that there's a "racial element" that resulted in the omission, with the report noting that Fatima feels "people of color and women are often ignored as much as possible" with the Academy's In Memoriam tributes.

The 2025 Academy Awards ceremony went pretty much without a hitch. No one was slapped, no one received the wrong award, and no one embarrassed themselves. However, the event still managed to court controversy online thanks to the stars omitted from the event’s In Memoriam, including Michelle Trachtenberg, Bernard Hill, and Shannen Doherty.

The Academy has gone to great lengths in recent years to not only recognize the stars we see on screen and behind the camera, but also those who make it possible for movies to make it to screens. From writers and editors, to choreographers and publicists, the list of those who passed away in the last year is often a long one, but in trying to cover all the bases, the Academy often leaves themselves open to criticism for missing out some big stars from the emotional segment.

Notable names in filmmaking including David Lynch, Maggie Smith, James Earl Jones and Donald Sutherland were recognized during the emotional segment.

“Harriet the Spy” star Michelle Trachtenberg, who died the Wednesday before the Oscars, was not included in the In Memoriam segment. This year, actors including Tony Todd, Chance Perdomo, Alain Delon, “Annie Hall” star Tony Roberts, Linda Lavin, James Darren, Mitzi Gaynor, Martin Mull and “Romeo and Juliet” star Olivia Hussey were also omitted, along with documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock.

Gene Hackman, who was found dead with his wife on Wednesday, was remembered with a tribute from Morgan Freeman, who worked with the two-time Oscar winner on “Unforgiven” and “Under Suspicion.”

Jason Bateman remembers the “Arrested Development” film that almost came to be. Bateman said during a recent appearance on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast, which you can see in the below video, that Matt Damon was interested in the project at one point. The only downside? Now, nobody “gives a shit” about bringing the film to the screen.

“Arrested Development” series ran from 2003 to 2006 on Fox and was later revived by Netflix for two additional seasons between 2013 and 2019. In the series, Bateman played Michael Bluth, who is tasked with running his eccentric family’s real estate empire after his father (Jeffrey Tambor) is arrested. Michael Cera played Bateman’s onscreen son, with Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, and Tony Hale as his siblings. Late actress Jessica Walter iconically played the boozy family matriarch Lucille. Movie fans have received some sad news, as Full Metal Jacket star Kevyn Major Howard, who played the Vietnam War correspondent Rafterman in Stanley Kubrick's war film, has passed away at the age of 69. The actor, born in 1956 in Quebec, Canada, began his Hollywood career in the 1970s when he had just moved to Los Angeles. Howard's acting career was not nearly as long-lasting as that of some of his co-stars, although he did appear in several notable films during the 1980s and 1990s.

The actor passed away in a Las Vegas hospital on Friday, February 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, with no cause of death currently revealed. However, Howard's family reported to TMZ that the actor had been hospitalized for weeks due to respiratory issues. Matthew Modine, a friend and Full Metal Jacket co-star, shared a poignant tribute on X, reminiscing how Kevyn Major Howard's performance in Full Metal Jacket...

The "Roseanne" episode "Sherwood Schwartz: A Loving Tribute" was, as the title implies, a tribute to one of the most successful sitcom creators to play the game. Schwartz, of course, is the mastermind behind both "Gilligan's Island" and "The Brady Bunch," and he worked as a writer on shows like "My Favorite Martian," "The Red Skelton Show," and "I Married Joan." Schwartz is a giant of the televised medium, and many TV shows owe him a debt; he provided several generations of goofy comedians with inspiration.

"Gilligan's Island" was particularly well-known among the public, partly because of its indelibly dumb humor, and partly because of endless reruns that continued through the 1980s. Every American knew the premise of "Gilligan's Island" and every sitcom writer wanted to emulate its success. It stood to reason that the makers of "Roseanne" — a blue-collar sitcom — would want to pay it, and Sherwood Schwartz, homage.

Shelley Duvall and Sctv cast member Joe Flaherty, however, were two notable omissions from the revamped annual fixture of the telecast.

Duvall, though perhaps best known for her film work with major directors including Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick, had a long and substantial TV career and was a two-time Emmy nominee. She created and produced a number of enduring shows, including Faerie Tale Theatre and Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories. Duvall died in July at 75.

Flaherty died in April at 82. His absence from the Emmy segment was awkward given that one of his Sctv costars, Eugene Levy, co-hosted the telecast and another, Martin Short, was a nominee and presenter.

Actor Doug Sheehan, best known to TV fans for his work on soap operas General Hospital and Knots Landing, has died. He was 75.

News of Sheehan’s death was made public by the Wyoming-based Kane Funeral Home, where memorial services are being arranged. Per the announcement, Sheehan passed away “peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, with his loving wife at his side.” A cause of death was not disclosed.
