When it came to the reading challenge of her season, Sasha was impressed by Loosey Laduca and Malaysia Babydoll Foxx; this season the standouts for her were Jane and Xunami Muse.

Heidi Gardner has become one of the Saturday Night Live seniors after having joined the venerable NBC show in season 43.

After a slew of cast members including Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson left last summer, Gardner, along with the likes of Ego Nwodim and Bowen Yang, have stepped up to fill the gap left. And she’s enjoying being “passed the ball more”.

In fact, Gardner had the joint second most cast appearances by segment, tied with Chloe Fineman and behind veteran Kenan Thompson, according to stats compiled by the Saturday Night Network.

Gardner is known for characters such as teen film critic Bailey Gismert and Deidre, one half of a couple who describe their vacation to their friends, as well as every boxer’s girlfriend from every movie about boxing ever, Angel, who she brought back this year.

Sure to be among those saluted include actress and director Penny Marshall, Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Burt Reynolds and Grammy winner Aretha Franklin. Every year, the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys must choose which notable performers and creators to memorialize in their In Memoriam segments, and the three organizations will have many talented entertainers to remember at 2019’s ceremonies.

The past year saw the loss of celebrated stars of the big screen, such “Smokey and the Bandit” star Burt Reynolds, who died Sept. 6. Reynolds, who was 82, earned an Oscar nom for “Boogie Nights” and also appeared on television in “Evening Shade.”

Among the other notable movie performers lost this year were “Superman” and “Smallville” actress Margot Kidder, who died May 13; “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter” star Sondra Locke, who was also a film director and died Nov. 3; and Susan Anspach, who starred in “Five Easy Pieces” and “Blume in Love” and died April 2.

Several stars known for their work in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s passed away in 2018, including Dorothy Malone, who starred...

The Emmys paid their final respects tonight to dozens of industry notables who died over the past year, including 10-time Emmy-winning writer-producer Steven Bochco, who employed half the town on such shows as Hill Street Blues, La Law and NYPD Blue; five-time Emmy-winner Anthony Bourdain, whose suicide shocked his friends and fans; and three-time winning actress and humanitarian Nanette Fabray. Sen. John McCain also was honored, as was Neil Simon and Aretha Franklin, whose moving rendition of “Amazing Grace” was played throughout.

Robin Leach, the entertainment reporter best known for showcasing celebrities’ extravagant wealth on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, died Thursday at age 76. The journalist, who was under hospice care at the time of his death, had been hospitalized since November 21st after a stroke, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Robin Leach, the entertainment journalist and host whose syndicated TV series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous hit smack-dab in the zeitgeist of the “greed is good” era during its heyday in the 1980s and early ’90s, has died. He was 76.

Leach most recently had been working as a columnist at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The newspaper relayed the news this morning that Leach passed away overnight in Las Vegas. He had been hospitalized since November 21 after suffering a stroke. He had a second stroke Monday and had been in hospice care.

“Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had,” Leach’s family said on Twitter this morning. “Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night at 1:50 a.m. Everyone’s support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful. Boyhood (edited by Sandra Adair, Ace) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (edited by Barney Pilling) won Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic) and Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy/Musical) respectively at the 65th Annual Ace Eddie Awards Friday night where trophies were handed out in ten categories of film, television and documentaries.

The black-tie ceremony was held in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel with over 1,000 in attendance to celebrate the year’s best editing.

The Lego Movie (edited by David Burrows & Chris McKay) won Best Edited Animated Feature Film and Citizenfour (edited by Mathilde Bonnefoy) won Best Edited Documentary (Feature).

NBC is planning to revive Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, the syndicated, unscripted series that visited the homes of the very wealthy to show regular joes how the other half lives.

Robin Leach hosted the original Lifestyles, which aired from the mid-1980s to the mid-90s; per The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, America’s Got Talent emcee Nick Cannon will take his place in the new incarnation.
