In the First World War Louis, a stubborn young British soldier armed with a pistol and an infantry whistle attempts to stop Oliver, a senior officer, from deserting the regiment. Youth and experience collide as Louis attempts to exert his naive morality on the wily and manipulative officer in the backdrop of one of the bloodiest conflicts the world has ever seen. The tables are soon turned, however, and then it is Louis who is fighting for his life. He is forced to make a decision: Allow Oliver to leave and escape unharmed or bring him to justice and fulfill his duty if it's the last thing he does.
