You’ve been warned…

Beau is Afraid – Mid-Coitus Shock

Sometimes, it’s not the goriest or most elaborate death that lingers, but the funniest. In Ari Aster’s strange odyssey,...

Kids vs Aliens Ending Explained (in Detail)
Image
Warning! This article contains spoilers for Kids vs Aliens. How does the Kids vs Aliens ending differ from the original V/H/S/2 segment it was based on? Kids vs Aliens is Jason Eisner's second feature, arriving 12 years after his 2011 debut feature Hobo with a Shotgun. Like that film, Kids vs Aliens is an expansion of one of Eisner's short films, this time his segment "Slumber Party Alien Abduction" from the 2013 anthology film V/H/S/2.

The kids of the title are Gary (Dominic Mariche) and his friends Jack (Asher Grayson Percival) and Miles (Ben Tector), who make wrestling-themed science fiction films in Gary's barn, with the help of his teenage sister Samantha (Phoebe Rex). However, a rift is created between Gary and Samantha when the latter is suddenly courted by Billy (Calem MacDonald), who, with his friends Dallas (Isaiah Fortune) and Trish (Emma Vickers), act as bullies to Gary and his friends.

Kids Vs. Aliens Review: A Simple Sci-Fi Story Is Saved By Excellent Visuals
Image
Audiences love a good adventure film about kids going on fantastical and sci-fi journey. It is the type of story that made Steven Spielberg a legend to many young generations of filmmakers. Later, that premise would get the likes of Netflix's Stranger Things off to a fantastic start with viewership. Kids vs. Aliens is a good ol’ fashioned kids vs. alien story with a great deal of profanity and gore.

Kids vs. Aliens follows Gary (Dominic Mariche) and his friends as they make a homemade movie of epic proportions. Of course, the kids are fighting dinosaurs with guns and swords alongside Gary’s sister, Sam (Phoebe Rex), who is particularly interested in wielding the latter. Things go off the rails with the production as Sam starts to feel awkward about playing with kids, a couple of bullies decide to pick on Gary and his friends, Gary gets injured, and...

From ‘Treevenge’ to ‘Kids vs. Aliens’: A Jason Eisener Retrospective!
Image
Director Jason Eisener is back with the horror/sci-fi movie Kids vs. Aliens, released in Theaters, On Demand, and Digital on January 20, 2023, from Rlje Films and Shudder.

In Kids vs. Aliens, produced by Bloody Disgusting, Cinepocalypse, and Studio71, all Gary (Dominic Mariche) wants is to make wrestling home movies with his best buds. Gary’s annoyed that his older sister Samantha (Phoebe Rex) wants to skip their wrestling fun to hang with the cool kids. When the siblings’ parents head out of town on Halloween weekend, a teen house party turns to terror when aliens attack, forcing the siblings to band together to survive the night.

Eisener co-wrote the film with John Davies (Hobo with a Shotgun) and incorporated his childhood into this wild midnight movie, from hometown UFO lore to his love of Masters of the Universe toys. In many ways, Kids vs. Aliens feels like a fitting full...

Aliens Invade Teen Party In Kids Vs. Aliens [Exclusive Clip]
Image
Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive clip from the new horror sci-fi movie Kids Vs. Aliens. The new movie follows Gary, who wants more than anything to make an awesome horror movie with his best friends, but his sister Samantha has a different goal: to get in with the cool kids. When their parents leave town for Halloween weekend, they throw a blowout house party, but terror quickly overtakes the fun when aliens attack. In the face of certain death, with the aliens using human skin as fuel for their ship, Gary and Samantha must work together to survive the night with only the costumes they wear and weapons they can find.

Kids Vs. Aliens is based on John Davies and Jason Eisener's segment from the found-footage horror anthology movie V/H/S/2, "Slumber Party Alien Abduction." Kids Vs. Aliens is Eisner's second feature-length project after Hobo With A Shotgun,...

‘Kids vs. Aliens’ Review
Image
Stars: Dominic Mariche, Ben Tector, Asher Grayson, Phoebe Rex, Calem McDonald, Jonathan Torrens | Written by John Davies | Directed by Jason Eisener

Kids vs. Aliens gets off to a promising start as the crew of a fishing boat witness a UFO splashdown near them and are quickly decimated by its occupants. The scene then cuts rather jarringly to Gary his friends Miles (Ben Tector) and Jack along with his older sister Samantha (Phoebe Rex) making a super 8 post-apocalyptic epic.

After their shoot is disrupted by neighbourhood bully Billy and his friends Sam finds herself interested in things other than filmmaking. There are just two problems. One, Billy is only interested in one thing, well two things, he also wants her to let him throw a Halloween party at her house while her parents are away. Two, or I guess three now, the aliens plan on attending as well.

Director Jason Eisener...

Badass Full Trailer for Jason Eisener's Lo-Fi Sci-Fi Film 'Kids vs. Aliens'
Image
"It's just one of their stupid pranks!" Here we go! From the filmmaker behind Treevenge and Hobo with a Shotgun comes Kids vs. Aliens, his latest wild and crazy indie horror flick from Canada. This premiered at Fantastic Fest, FrightFest, and Sitges this fall, opening in January. Made by filmmaker Jason Eisener - an all-time rager of a teen house party turns to terror when aliens attack, forcing two warring siblings to band together to survive the night. While it sounds similar to Attack the Block, it looks entirely different. Starring Dominic Mariche, Phoebe Rex, Calem MacDonald, Asher Grayson Percival, and Ben Tector. "Utilizing elements from Spielberg and Donner’s templates, Eisener crafts a nostalgic homage to timeless childhood favorites like The Goonies and Monster Squad, but spices them up with foul-mouthed dialogue and gallons of gore." I had a blast watching this film! Glad they included so many F-bombs in here.

Kids Vs. Aliens Review: A Charmingly Simplistic Monster Movie [Fantastic Fest]
Image
Sometimes you just need a simple monster movie. Look, I watch a lot of horror and genre pics, and I love it when they stretch themselves beyond the boundaries of the genre. I love when filmmakers attempt to use the building blocks of horror and rework them into new, unique shapes. But I also love it when someone says, "You know what? I'm gonna make a simple monster movie." And that's what makes the silly, unhinged "Kids vs. Aliens" so enjoyable.

Directed by "Hobo With a Shotgun" helmer Jason Eisener, "Kids vs. Aliens" will no doubt draw comparisons to "Stranger Things" with its story of kids butting up against the supernatural (there's even a scene when they all get on their bikes!). But as enjoyable as "Stranger Things" can be, it's sanitized. That can't be said for "Kids vs. Aliens," which gleefully embraces gore and danger to emulate the type...

Hulu Releases ‘The Girl From Plainville’ Trailer Starring Elle Fanning (TV News Roundup)
Image
Hulu has released an official trailer for “The Girl From Plainville” — a limited series inspired by the true story of Michelle Carter’s “texting suicide” case.

Based on Jesse Barron’s Esquire article of the same name, “The Girl From Plainville” dives into Carter’s (Elle Fanning) relationship with Conrad Roy III (Colton Ryan) and his following death, which led to her conviction of involuntary manslaughter.

“All he thought about was dying… I really just wanted to help him,” says Fanning’s Carter in the gripping trailer, which is full of unsettling text messages and moments both following and leading up to Roy’s death.

In addition to Fanning and Ryan, the series also stars Chloë Sevigny as Lynn Roy, Cara Buono as Gail Carter, Kai Lennox as David Carter and Norbert Leo Butz as Conrad Roy II.

Hailing from UCP of the Universal Studio Group, “The Girl From Plainville...

Watch the Official Trailer for Are You Afraid Of The Dark?: Curse Of The Shadows, Premiering February 12th on Nickelodeon
Image
Aside from the members of the Midnight Society, perhaps the most prolific recurring character in the ’90s run of Are You Afraid of the Dark? was the enigmatic magician Sardo, so fans of the original series may be pleased to see a new take on the Magic Mansion owner featuring prominently in the official trailer for the second season of the Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival, titled Curse of the Shadows, which will kick off its six-episode season on Friday, February 12th on Nickelodeon.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? Season 2 Trailer Shows a Scary Expanded Scope
Conor Sherry, Chance Hurstfield, Dior Goodjohn, Luca Padovan, Camila Issa, and Telci Huynh in Fais-moi peur ! (2019)
The Midnight Society’s campfire was restoked—figuratively and literally—for the 2019 Halloween season by Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? three-episode miniseries, which enticed audiences old and new for more chilling exploits from a new generation of the classic kid coterie of scare-chasers. Thus, the network subsequently greenlit Season 2, this time for six episodes, which begin their weekly run in February.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows is the title of Season 2, indicating that the series will again eschew its classic single-episode story format to utilize the entirety of a season to tell one epic story, having moved on from the 2019 miniseries storyline centered on demented ringmaster Mr. Tophat and his Carnival of Doom. Moreover, we’re already getting an all-new Midnight Society; a lineup tasked with pursuing a mysterious creature called the Shadowman.
