Shout! Studios has acquired North American distribution rights to family adventure feature “Pet Investigators” from indie European distributor Plaion Pictures.

The deal was negotiated by Shout! Studios’ executive VP Melissa Boag, Mark Balsam, Bruce Eisen of Eisen Law, and Steven Katz, Shout’s VP of business affairs, and film writer and producer Werner Kienberger of Plaion. Sola Media is selling remaining territories at Berlin’s European Film Market (EFM).

The family-oriented mystery, directed by Brent Ryan Green from a script by Sebastian Brummer, Werner Kienberger and B. Dave Walters, follows three teens and their canine companion as they investigate a series of neighborhood pet disappearances, ultimately uncovering a bumbling crime ring of animal thieves.

Foul Play is created by Andrew Barth Feldman, Alex Boniello, and Matthew Barth Tinkelman. Foul Play is a five-part improvisational murder mystery series that takes viewers across multiple genres, including an Agatha Christie-inspired whodunnit, high fantasy, and reality television. However, the cutting-edge series allows the viewer to step into the role of detective, investigating each crime by following suspects and sniffing out clues to uncover the identity of the killer.

Foul Play has an impressive cast of improvisational legends and stars of both stage and screen, including Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things), Michael Urie (Shrinking), Ryan Haddad (The Politician), Erica Hernandez (True Lies), Will Roland (Billions), Celia Rose Gooding (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), and Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice). Twelve episodes later, Cassian is at a crossroads on Andor. After murdering two Pre-Mor officers and fleeing capture on Ferrix, things haven’t gotten any easier for our protagonist. Although he hoped to enjoy an extended vacation on the party planet of Niamos after pulling off the heist on Aldhani, he soon witnesses firsthand the terrible atrocities being committed by the Empire under the galaxy’s very nose in the prison on Narkina 5. It’s no surprise that in the season finale, Cassian decides that simply running and surviving is no longer enough. It’s time to take the fight to the Empire.

Netflix’s Geeked Week — a five-day virtual fan event which began last year to premiere exclusive news from the streamer — released a trailer for its upcoming content and announced a new set of hosts for this year’s festivities, taking place June 6-10.

The trailer, narrated by David Harbour of “Stranger Things,” promises new footage and information about titles like “The Sandman,” based on the 1990s DC Comics of the same name and starring Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. In Trek lore, this date in 2063 marks the first time that humanity reached out to the other races of the galaxy and they reached back. Pioneer Zephram Cochrane invented the warp drive and piloted his experimental craft into the stars, something which attracted the attention of a passing Vulcan vessel, who came to meet him on Earth.
