Actor Jensen Ackles, who has previously voiced Batman in animated films, was almost cast as Batman in the TV series Gotham Knights. Ackles was unable to join the show due to scheduling conflicts, but fans still hope to see him play the Dark Knight in the future. Ackles' role as Batman in Gotham Knights would have been significant as it would have been his first live-action portrayal of the character.

Gotham Knights co-creator Natalie Abrams didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.
On the night of the drama’s series finale on the CW, Abrams — who created the DC Comics-based drama with Chad Fiveash and James Patrick Stoteraux — posted a heartfelt message Tuesday for her beloved “BatBrats” who were about to see their show end after one season.
The series from DC, Warner Bros. TV and Greg Berlanti Prods. was a respectable ratings performer but was canceled to make way for the network’s new (see: cheaper) business model.
“Gotham Knights is coming to an end,” Abrams said on Twitter. “It’s taken a while to accept this fact, to grieve the loss of something so unique and ethereal as this first project. From the moment I pitched Greg Berlanti the two sentences that would become this oddball underdog of a show, it no longer belonged to me.

Last week was a good one for the NHL’s Golden Knights, who won the Stanley Cup, but not for The CW’s Gotham Knights, which was canceled after its freshman season. Today Misha Collins, who starred as the dashing, idealistic District Attorney and Gotham City mayoral candidate Harvey Dent, took to social media to reflect on the superhero series and thank its Bat Brat fans.
“I’m incredibly bummed, and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my ‘villain arc,'” he wrote on Instagram (see the post below), “but I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people.”
Said “villain arc” was to be Dent’s transformation into the horribly disfigured and shunned Batman adversary Two-Face.

Gotham Knights will not return for season 2 on The CW. The newest DC show has been left in a state of limbo for a few weeks now as the network continues adjusting its programming approach. Gotham Knights premiered earlier this year and took a rather unique approach to its DC world in the sense that, unlike most CW DC shows, it doesn't hold any connections to the long-running Arrowverse.
While fellow DC series Superman & Lois will continue on with season 4, Deadline now reports that Gotham Knights has been cancelled at The CW following its one-season run. The show was a decent performer for the network, but with The CW significantly cutting down on its scripted content, it was unable to justify another season.

Gotham Knights has been canceled by The CW after only one season on the network.
According to Deadline, the DC drama series will not return for a second season after being canceled by The CW. The first, and now final season, of Gotham Knights is expected to consist of 13 episodes, with Episode 12 "City of Owls" expected to air on the network on June 20. While Gotham Knights was canceled, two other scripted shows, Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, have been renewed for additional seasons. "We love all those shows, and they all do very well for us in different ways," said The CW’s Entertainment President Brad Schwartz in May, prior to the cancelation, regarding Superman & Lois, All American: Homecoming and Gotham Knights.

“Gotham Knights” will not be returning to The CW.
After just one season, the finale of which airs June 27, the DC series cancellation news comes alongside renewal announcements for “All American: Homecoming” and “Superman & Lois.”
Focusing on Batman’s adopted son after the Dark Knight’s death, the show shares a premise with a video game dropped last year, though the two are unrelated. The heroes of Gotham attempt to maintain justice after the Caped Crusader’s untimely demise.

The CW has canceled Gotham Knights after one season.
The DC Comics-based drama was one of three scripted series whose fate had been left in limbo along with Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, which both are being renewed. A total of four existing CW dramas will make it to next season, along with previously renewed All American and Walker.
Gotham Knights has been a respectable ratings performer and, under different circumstances, could’ve made it to a second season but, with the business model of the CW changing under its new ownership, only a handful of highly rated (by CW standards) existing scripted series could make the cut.

A disappointing aspect of the changes being made to both The CW and Warner Bros. Discovery has been the culling of many Dctv shows. Season 4 of Titans ended the series, Doom Patrol is due to wrap soon, while The Flash is more or less ending the Arrowverse. It's left many wondering if Dctv will indeed live on, or be tossed completely in the bin with the likes of Batwoman.
A new report from The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting there may be room for only one Dctv show moving forward. As of this writing, it's currently rumored only Superman & Lois or Gotham Knights will be renewed at the CW. If this is indeed the case, given the fan approval, critical acclaim and the potential the future holds, it's clear which series should be kept.

Gotham Knights’ Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) isn’t the first original character created by a comic book adaptation, but he is an odd case. His isn’t a situation like Clark Greg’s Phil Coulson, given a larger role in the story after fans latched onto a minor character. It's also not brought about by issues of actors dropping out unexpectedly like with Batwoman’s Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie). Instead, Turner is an original creation of Gotham Knights, standing alongside a cast that is otherwise lifted straight from the comics. But the strange thing is that he wasn’t created to fill a role that the source material lacked. Bruce Wayne has a lot of sons in the comics, so why did the show feel the need to create its own?...

There are three constants in the world: death, taxes, and the CW's ability to mine the DC Universe for material to make new shows. The network's latest effort, Gotham Knights, once again taps into the Batman mythos - but with a twist. The Dark Knight has been murdered, and a group of teenagers must unite to solve his death and protect Gotham in his absence. Reviews for Gotham Knights have been...less than kind, unfavorably comparing it to the CW's previous past efforts along with critique of the cast's performances. It also doesn't help that there's a video game out there with the exact same premise. But what truly hobbles Gotham Knights is its protagonist Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), who also happens to be Bruce Wayne's adopted son. Nearly every choice made concerning Turner is a microcosm of how Gotham Knights bungled what could have been a great premise.

Gotham Knights kicks off with an intriguing mystery as Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) investigates the murder of his adoptive father, Bruce Wayne. After Bruce Wayne is killed and outed as the Batman, Turner himself is framed as the mastermind behind the murder. However, the first episode of the brand-new series suggests that there are several other possibilities as to the identity of the Caped Crusader's killer. Although the series has offered few clues in its first episode regarding the circumstances surrounding Batman's death, there are several suspects who already stand out as the most likely perpetrators of the heinous, albeit historic, crime.
Bereft of many characters in the Batman mythos, Gotham Knights explores a city without its Caped Crusader. After years of crimefighting as Batman, Bruce Wayne's crusade is cut tragically short, leaving his adopted son Turner Hayes to pick up the pieces. The first season of the series follows...

“Gotham Knights” has arrived on The CW, but this time, there’s no Batman in Gotham.
In fact, the Bat is dead, and it’s unclear who killed him. But of course, plenty of people are going to put their minds to solving the case of Gotham’s most reclusive billionaire and dark knight. But it might just be some of the city’s youngest — and criminally active — residents that are able to piece it together.
“Gotham Knights” follows Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), Batman’s adopted son, as he teams up with the children of some of Batman’s most notable rogues to bring his father’s killer to justice. Also on the case is Gotham’s esteemed Da Harvey Dent (Misha Collins), but we all know how his story turns out…

The CW’s Gotham Knights wasted no time throwing us into a shocking mystery, one that will see the scions of Batman’s most notorious foes — and no less than Bruce Wayne’s adopted son — attempt to clear their names.
The non-Arrowverse series’ premiere opens with a brooding Turner Hayes (played by Oscar Morgan) mid-monologue; as Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, he’s seemingly got all he could ever want. Except, as he phrases it, “a reason why.”

Gotham Knights rises on The CW tonight and while the Arrowverse is no longer with us — nor is Batman, in this case — DC Comics fans do (finally) have something to cheer for. Along with the fabulous Superman & Lois, which precedes it by an hour, this latest entry into SuperTV is a fun ride through familiar territory with a new twist. And we’re into it. Pulling in deep cuts from the comics, Knights centers on Turner Hayes, the adopted son of Bruce Wayne. Just don’t expect a billionaire playboy redux. “He’s nice,” offers Oscar Morgan, the instantly likable British actor behind the scion of Wayne-funded privilege. “He wants to be liked by anyone that will like him really, and he’s well-intentioned.” Admitting that the loner Turner “definitely needs to be ...

The Batman is dead. Long live … his previously unseen adopted son?
That’s the premise behind “Gotham Knights,” the CW’s latest (and last?) DC Comics-based TV series, potentially putting the pin in a remarkable 18-year run encompassing everything from “Smallville” to the expansive “Arrowverse” and the still-airing (for now) “Superman & Lois.” If this is indeed the end, it feels like a sad, destined-to-be-ignored footnote rather than a triumphant farewell.
Of course, the Dark Knight has always been a particularly sparkly gem in the DC crown, which probably accounts for why his solo exploits remain the dominion of feature films, leaving various television offerings to dig and scrape in the corners and crevices of the Batman mythos for storytelling opportunities. Just in the last 10 years we’ve gotten Batman’s city before Batman (Fox’s “Gotham”), Batman’s butler before Batman (Starz/HBO Max’s “Pennyworth”), Batman’s...

There is no Batman in Gotham Knights, unless you count a brief wide shot of Bruce Wayne in his office and a closer one of his bloodied corpse on the sidewalk. That is, indeed, the whole point of Gotham Knights: The series is set in the panicked aftermath of the Caped Crusader’s death, as his adopted son Turner (Oscar Morgan) tries to catch his dad’s killer and in the process emerges as a hero in his own right.
But even in his absence, Batman casts a long shadow — one Gotham Knights struggles to get out from under in the six hourlong episodes sent to critics. It’s Batman’s work that links nearly all the characters, Batman’s death that finally brings them all together, Batman’s history they’re made to sift through and Batman’s legacy they work to live up to. Doug Bradley may be best known for playing Pinhead in the Hellraiser franchise, but now he will take on the villain who set one of DC’s greatest heroes on his path — Joe Chill. Doug Bradley will play the character in episode six of Gotham Knights on The CW. Joe Chill has spent fifty years rotting on death row, but with his execution finally scheduled, the notorious “Patron Saint of Bad Guys” isn’t about to let his secrets die with him.

Not to be confused with the video game of the same name, The CW is debuting its latest in a long line of Dctv shows this month with Gotham Knights. Unlike the majority of past CW DC shows, though, this series is firmly rooted in Gotham and centered around The Dark Knight — sort of. Like Batwoman before it, Gotham Knights is only tangentially connected to Batman, with the character existing in this universe but not being included as a main character. Instead, Gotham Knights shifts its focus to Bruce Wayne's adopted teenage son and a group of other teenagers. Gotham Knights is a half-decent DC universe story that's unfortunately couched in teen melodrama and color grading more irritating than atmospheric.

These kids are definitely not alright. But they are cool Af. In The CW‘s new Gotham Knights, a posse of deep-cut, juvenile delinquents from the Batman canon take center stage after they are framed for Bruce Wayne’s murder. Among them: The Joker’s daughter, Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), and siblings Harper (Fallon Smythe), and Cullen Row (Tyler Dichiara). A band of smalltime hoods, the trio winds up in the Gcpd’s crosshairs early in the pilot, along with Wayne’s adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), thanks to a crooked cop, a secret cabal and some very “wrong place at the wrong time” bad luck. Obviously, they aren’t actually guilty (it would be kind of hard to root for Gen Z-ers who killed the Dark Knight), although it’s not like the youngins are squeaky clean, either. As we see in the above exclusive sneak peek from the immensely entertaining series premiere,...

The Gotham Knights TV show confirmed a cast of old and new DC characters proving to be one of the most ambitious lineups of any new DC show. Since 1966 Batman has been a staple of television, and every show since has attempted to build upon The Dark Knight’s legacy. The real-life married couple will play husband and wife on the series as well, with Mabrey debuting as Crystal Brown in the show’s fifth episode and Embry first appearing in episode six as Arthur Brown. In the comics, Arthur Brown is the alter ego of Batman villain Cluemaster.

Be it unrealistic animated adventures like Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2008-2011) or grittier detective origin stories like Gotham (2014-2019), there's something for every type of Batman fan in the world of television. However, what if there was a Batman show without Batman? One where Batman can no longer protect Gotham City from its dozens of supervillains? That's the question that The CW, the channel responsible for the successful Arrowverse, hopes to answer with Gotham Knights (2023). Not to be confused with the 2022 videogame of the same name which has a similar but unrelated premise, Gotham Knights takes place in a world where Bruce Wayne is mysteriously murdered while on one of his crime-stopping missions, leaving his adopted son Turner (Oscar Morgan) to pick up the pieces while also being accused of his father's murder. Now, Turner must form a new crime-fighting team to fill the bat-shaped void apparent within Gotham.

Batman's murder becomes the center point in a new Gotham Knights video featurette. Despite winding down on the DC TV brand, The CW is keeping the tradition alive with a new superhero drama on its way. For 2023, the network is bringing Gotham Knights to the programming slate, based in the world of Batman. Despite having the same name, Gotham Knights is not based on the video game that was released in 2022. While stemming from the Batwoman writers and producers, this is not a spinoff series, nor does it tie to any other Arrowverse show. The CW is officially premiering Gotham Knights on Tuesday, March 14 at 9Pm right after the Superman & Lois season 3 premiere.
While Gotham Knights season 1 is still a few months away, a new video featurette has emerged for the DC TV series. Shared through the Gotham Knights Updates account on Twitter, the featurette gives a new look...

Behind-the-scenes footage from Gotham Knights teases the transformation of Misha Collins into the villainous Two Face. Gotham Knights is a new CW show that follows the aftermath of the murder of Batman (David Alexander Miller) and the effect that it has on the lives of all those in Gotham City, especially the Dark Knight's adoptive son. With the show's trailer having been released shortly after the announcement that Batwoman season 3 was canceled, Gotham Knights has faced sharp criticism, but the show is increasing its marketing efforts once again.
Collins, who earned acclaim in his long-time performance as Castiel in Supernatural, has been incredibly excited about his upcoming Gotham Knights role as Harvey Dent thanks to just how different it is after years as the relatively good-hearted Castiel. The actor released a New Years update showing the make-up work that goes into turning him into a scarred villain with a half-burned face.
