IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Actor and Director, Daniel Hunt was born in Hellesdon, Norwich on May 14th 1963. (Real name Nigel David Hunt)

He began acting with the Norwich Theatre Royal Youth Group and then played 3 summer seasons in Weymouth, Dorset.

In 1986 he was accepted for the three year acting course at the renowned Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, London. Other West End credits include the title role in the musical Bertie Badger's Christmas Adventure (Fortune Theatre and tour) and Peter in Edward Albee's The Zoo Story (Actors Centre/Tristan Bates). He also toured the UK in many classical plays by Shakespeare, Strindberg, Ayckbourn, Kramer and Ibsen etc.

Between acting and directing assignments he has also worked as an acting tutor, creating and running the original PTTAEC at Rose Bruford College, Sidcup from 1997 - 2007. In 2007 he established the Act Now! Drama Company in London, and has directed 8 productions on the London fringe, including Electra (The Courtyard Theatre, London) and his self penned comedy plays That Happy Feeling! at the Broadway Studio Theatre and The Adventures of Royston Cockfosters at the Greenwich Playhouse. He also directed Something Wicked This Way Comes at Greenwich Playhouse, London, West End Gold (Gaiety Theatre, Isle of Man), Beyond Therapy at Swansea Grand Theatre, The Tragedy of Federico Garcia Lorca, Mind Games, The Passion of Henrik Ibsen and Cowards Way (Broadway Studio Theatre) and The Tempest, Agamemnon, The Crucible, Three Sisters, An Ideal Husband, Peer Gynt, Antigone (Anouilh), SummerFolk (Gorky), Dr Faustus, Medea (Euripides), Strange Interlude, Suddenly Last Summer, Hecuba and The Cherry Orchard in New York for AD/NY/VoiceBank productions and Iphigenia at Aulis and Ghosts (Boston University).

Radio work includes: Torvald in 'A Dolls House', Iachimo in 'Cymbeline', Andre in 'Three Sisters', Solness in 'The Master Builder', Leonard Woolf in ' Leonard & Virginia', Edgar in 'The Dance of Death', Leontes in The Winter's Tale, Narrator in 'The War of the Worlds' and Zeus in 'Gods Almighty!'

In January 2017 he performed his one man show Here Goes in New York, off Broadway. He works regularly as an actor, director, tutor and TV & Radio voice-over artist in London, Germany, Milan, Copenhagen, Spain, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston and New York.

He was bestowed a special Niace/First Direct Drama Teaching and Directing Award for excellence in January 2017 and won his second Directing award in March 2019.

    • Quotes
Any insecurity for an actor auditioning for a job will be magnified. You have to have the confidence to know that you are good at what you do, without it being an arrogance. If not, how can you actually get up and do it? If you go to a tailor, to have a suit made, you go to the chap who will make you the best suit. You don't go to the guy who tells you he can just make 'an ok outfit'. If a director asks you if you are a good actor, you have to be able to look them in the eyes and know that you are. It's your job description.
