Kennedy Center’s ‘Les Misérables’ Opening Night Reflects The Trump Takeover: Potus Walks Red Carpet, Attacks L.A. Protests’ “Radical Left Lunatics”
Image
Donald Trump, walking the red carpet Wednesday for the opening-night performance of Les Misérables at the Kennedy Center, again insisted that were it not for his federalizing of the National Guard, “Los Angeles right now, if we didn’t do what we did, would be burning to the ground.”

“These are radical left lunatics that you’re dealing with, and they’re tough, they’re smart, they probably have paid, many of them as you know. They’re professionals,” Trump told reporters. “… They’re chopping up concrete and using it as a weapon. That’s pretty bad.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom opposed the National Guard order, and in a Tuesday evening speech said that Trump has only inflamed the situation.

The evening was Trump’s first visit to a Kennedy Center performance of this term, and the first since he engineered a takeover the the arts institution just weeks after returning to the White House.

Trump Rushes to Spin Room to Save Face After Disastrous Debate
Image
Philadelphia — The clearest sign that Kamala Harris’ campaign thought she won the ABC presidential debate was the fact that her elated surrogates in the post-debate spin room were gloating about “finally landing a punch on Donald Trump” — and floating the possibility of a rematch.

The clearest sign Trump knew he lost was the fact that Trump himself appeared in the spin room to defend his debate performance on Tuesday night.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., the former president shuffled into the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where an armada of surrogates, including Robert Kennedy Jr.,...

Corey Lewandowski Repeats Trump’s Ugly Lie That Democratic Moms Support Killing Babies
Image
Corey Lewandowski is back advising Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, and he’s spreading his boss’ vicious, ugly lie that Vice President Kamala Harris and moms in blue states support killing babies.

It is absolutely false that Democrats are in favor of infanticide. It’s just another vicious lie to demonize women who support reproductive autonomy by a party that wants to control women’s bodies.

“Kamala Harris, who has had a radical position on abortion, many Democrats believe that you can have an abortion not only up until the...

MSNBC’s Ari Melber Says Corey Lewandowski Claim Is Potentially “A Defamation Situation”; Trump Aide Follows Up With Video “Facts”
Image
The heated on-air dispute last night between MSNBC’s Ari Melber and Donald Trump campaign adviser Corey Lewandowski didn’t end with Wednesday’s segment: Today, Lewandowski tweeted a video in an attempt to prove his point.

On Wednesday’s The Beat with Ari Melber, Lewandowski deflected Melber’s questions about his testimony during the House Judiciary Committee hearing that he had made false claims to the media about his involvement on Trump’s behalf during the Mueller investigation. Instead of addressing that question, Lewandowski repeatedly accused Melber of previously stating that Trump’s bandage was used as a “prop” and “just for spectacle.”

After much back-and-forth, Melber addressed Lewandowski’s accusation by stating that the “prop” reference was a quote from a New York Times article that Melber read on-air and attributed to the newspaper. The quote from a Times column referred to Trump as “his own biggest prop...

Melania Trump’s Absent From Her Husband’s Debate
Image
Former First Lady Melania Trump was noticeably absent from Thursday night’s debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

The Trump campaign did not provide any comment regarding the guest list for the debate, and Melania’s office also declined to respond to inquiries about her attendance. When asked if the former First Lady would be present, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt cryptically stated, “I have no specific names, but you will find out when he lands in Atlanta.”

Upon his arrival in Atlanta, the former president was accompanied by a host of aides and advisers, which included Susie Wiles, Chris Lacivita, Corey Lewandowski, Margo Martin and Walt Nauta. Melania was notably absent from the group.

This absence is consistent with the former First Lady’s limited involvement in her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign. While she appeared at the campaign launch in 2022, Melania has not joined Trump at any of his rallies,...

Trump ‘Disgusted’ by Kristi Noem’s Puppy Execution Story
Image
Donald Trump is privately trashing South Dakota’s Maga Gov. Kristi Noem for executing her puppy and writing about it in her forthcoming memoir — a matter that appears to have closed the book on the idea of selecting her as a vice presidential nominee.

During conversations with close political allies and other confidants, sources say, the former president has repeatedly brought up the incident, including as recently as in the past couple days, to criticize Noem and question her political acumen.

This reporting is based on four sources familiar with the matter,...

Supreme Court Puppet Master’s Consulting Firm Clients Exposed in Leak
Image
The consulting firm led by Leonard Leo, the architect of the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority, has worked for billionaire Charles Koch’s political advocacy network and a dark-money group that is currently arguing a Supreme Court case designed to preempt a wealth tax, according to documents obtained by Rolling Stone. The firm even worked to promote a book by Donald Trump cronies Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie.

Leo has played a central role in shifting the high court and its decisions far to the right. As former President Donald Trump’s judicial adviser,...

Trump’s Secret Weapon To ‘Ratf-ck’ DeSantis
Image
In his battle against Ron DeSantis for the 2024 nomination, Donald Trump and his allies believe they’ve found a new weapon in their effort to bury the Florida governor.

His name is Vivek Ramaswamy, a 37-year-old “anti-woke” entrepreneur and one of the longshot 2024 Republican contenders who vows to be even Trumpier than Trump.

The explanation for the former president’s interest in Ramaswamy’s campaign is simple: The insurgent candidate has spent much of his run for office trashing Trump’s top rival, DeSantis. As Ramaswamy’s poll numbers and...

What ‘Peril’ Reveals About Donald Trump’s Twitter Tirades – Analysis
Image
In the week before the publication of Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s Peril, many of its juiciest revelations already had made headlines.

Sans any kind of spoiler alert, there were the calls that General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, gave to assure his Chinese counter part despite an erratic President Donald Trump. There also was former Vice President Dan Quayle counseling Vice President Mike Pence that no, he didn’t have the power to reject electors during the Jan. 6 vote count, despite Trump’s relentless pressure to do more.

But despite the pre-publication buzz surrounding Peril, fairly typical for a Woodward bombshell, some of the minor items still are revelatory.

One that stands out, oddly enough, is Trump’s apparently realization that his tweets weren’t necessarily helping him.

The scene in the book, which came out Tuesday, is a post-inauguration meeting at Mar-a-Lago...

Conservatives Only Have Themselves to Blame for Trump’s Facebook Ban
Image
Since the dawn of capitalism, liberals have been complaining that private companies have too much power, and that they use to harm individuals who are hapless to fight back against concentrated money. In response, conservatives have reaped the benefits of corporate donations, leaning into absurd mantras like “corporations are people,” and used culture-war issues to attract voters to a platform that really just cares about tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy people who run them.

So it’s just a little bit ironic to hear conservatives complaining about Donald Trump...

The Covid Queen of South Dakota
Image
At first, the angel of death skipped over South Dakota. This pleased the Snow Queen.

It was Fourth of July weekend, and Gov. Kristi Noem was hosting Donald Trump for fireworks at Mount Rushmore. Covid-19 had already killed 122,000 Americans. Still, Noem cleaved closer to Trump’s failed policies than any other governor. In public, she recited Trump’s talking points: Covid was a Democratic plot to take over the country, masks were optional, and we’re open for business. Superficially, the statements seemed less crazy when delivered in the calm...

CNN President Jeff Zucker to Leave Network at End of Year
Image
CNN president Jeff Zucker, who helped the news outlet become the dominant name in cable news, intends to leave the media organization at the end of the year.

“This organization has been through a lot. I’d like to be here to get us all back to a new normal, one that feels much more like it once did around here,” Zucker said in a Thursday call with CNN producers that was obtained by Variety. “So, as a result, I am going to stay and finish my current contract — which, as I said, will keep me here until the end of this year. At that point, I do expect to move on.”

It is unclear who will replace Zucker. A representative from CNN parent company WarnerMedia did not return a request for comment.

Zucker, who joined CNN in 2013, helped catapult the outlet to the top of the cable news game during Donald Trump’s presidency.

Sacha Baron Cohen Explains Why He Stepped Out of the Shadows to Save Democracy — No Joke
Image
It’s no easy feat to get Sacha Baron Cohen to explain himself. But with his dual roles in “The Trial of Chicago 7” and “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” making the rounds in awards season, he has no choice but to play the game. “It hate it,” he admitted in a recent phone interview. “It’s fucking horrible.”

However, he insisted that the real motivator was the message he’s been pushing for the past several years — a desire to speak truth to power, rid the world of Trumpism, and save America from itself. “I felt the stakes were higher than any of the movies I’ve done before,” he said. “I really didn’t want anything I’d done to be misconstrued.”

Baron Cohen has been putting his life on the line for over 30 years. When he was 17 years old, he went to a neo-Nazi rally in London. Within a decade,...

Peter Bart: In Tough Times, Hollywood & Media Celebs Look To New Revenue Streams
Image
With dealmaking on an uptick, record sums are being paid for hot material, while the “asks” for star talent are often met with pushback. Those, at least, are the reports from the battlefront. The reaction: “There should be some sort of stock market for stars,” observes one British packaging agent.

In years past, a star’s price would be tied in part to the foreign presale market. A Stallone or Schwarzenegger who diligently toured key territories would command healthy advances around the world, resulting in muscular offers from Hollywood distributors. Tom Cruise, of course, became the champion of this strategy.

But box office bumps would still confuse dealmakers along the way. Even Iron Man Robert Downey Jr melted last year in Dolittle. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker helped distributors forget his 2017 turkey aptly titled You Were Never Really Here.

A couple of generations have passed since MGM could bank on a...

BMI Warns Donald Trump Campaign To Stop Playing Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” At Rallies
Image
Exclusive: We finally might have heard the last of the Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at President Donald Trump’s campaign rallies, which was played as his walk-off theme at Saturday’s sparsely attended rally in Tulsa, Ok.

The Stones first objected to Trump’s use of the song during the 2016 presidential campaign, but he has continued to use it without their permission. Now he’s been put on notice by BMI – the giant publishing rights organization – that there might be legal consequences if he persists.

Tom Petty’s Family Objects To Donald Trump Campaign’s Use Of ‘I Won’t Back Down’ At Tulsa Rally

Bmi informed the Trump campaign this week that the unauthorized use of the song will constitute a breach of its licensing agreement. “The Trump campaign has a Political Entities License which authorizes the public performance of more than 15 million...

Rachel Maddow in The Rachel Maddow Show (2008)
Rachel Maddow on the Election and How to Keep Trump Officials From Lying on Her Show
Rachel Maddow in The Rachel Maddow Show (2008)
Rachel Maddow’s devotees are ferocious, insatiable. Her fans are loath to miss a single nightly newscast hosted by the erudite MSNBC star. I know. I’m one of them. But it’s not only dyed-in-the-wool liberals like myself who tune in to “The Rachel Maddow Show” to feast on her scrupulous in-depth research, connect-the-dots analysis, compelling interviews, plainspoken style and witty banter. She’s gained respect even from some of her detractors. Unlike many of Maddow’s formidable counterparts at rival cable news networks, including CNN, she’s not a regular target of President Trump’s nasty tweets — perhaps for good reason. Still, as she points out, when he does single out individual journalists, it’s “an attack on all of us.”

Maddow’s show, which launched in 2008 and is the linchpin of the network’s primetime, was the third-most-watched show in cable news in 2019, capturing about 2.79 million viewers on average,...

Mitt Romney
Senate Acquits President Donald Trump In Finale To Impeachment Process
Mitt Romney
President Donald Trump was acquitted by the Senate today after a five-month impeachment process.

The acquittal on both articles of impeachment was not a surprise, as few expected enough Republicans to break ranks and reach the 67 vote threshold needed to convict and remove Trump from office.

But still it was dramatic and historic, covered across broadcast and cable networks. This was the third time in American history that a president has been impeached — and the third time that there has been an acquittal after a Senate trial.

The vote on Article I, for abuse of power, was 52-48 to acquit, and it was 53-47 on Article II, for obstruction of Congress.

One element of suspense was whether any senators would cross party lines. Just hours before the vote, Mitt Romney gave a speech on the Senate floor in which he said that he would vote to remove Trump from office.

Why The First Hours Of Televised Donald Trump Impeachment Hearings Might Count More Than Any Other
When the House Intelligence Committee launches its first public hearing of the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump on Wednesday, it’s likely that the first hours might matter more than anything else.

Throughout the day, the hearings will draw across-the-board coverage on broadcast networks, streaming platforms and cable news channels, not to mention the river of comments and clips that will proliferate on Twitter and Facebook.

Given the social media quick reaction to recent hearings featuring Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, and Special Counsel Robert Mueller, initial impressions make a big difference.

When Lewandowski testified in September, pundits quickly focused on the extent of his pugnacity and defiance. When Mueller testified in July, much of the initial attention was on his points of shakiness. It didn’t seem to matter that there were moments of revelatory substance further along in the hearings; Trump and his supporters seized...

Corey Lewandowski Stonewalls Again On CNN Over When He Lies To The Media
Corey Lewandowski
A day after admitting to the House Judiciary Committee that he has “no obligation to be honest with the media,” President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski sparred with CNN’s Alisyn Camerota over when he lies to news outlets.

In a segment on New Day, Camerota pressed him to answer when he isn’t telling the truth to the media, while Lewandowski deflected by pointing out that CNN hired Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI, who was fired on charges that he “lacked candor” about the nature of leaks of information to The Wall Street Journal. He denies the claim.

CNN hired Lewandowski as a paid contributor following his departure from the Trump campaign in 2016, and his appearance on the network on Wednesday drew some criticism given his admission to the House Judiciary Committee.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-r.I.), a member of the Judiciary Committee,...

Donald Trump Just Landed At Lax, Traffic Coming To Standstill In Downtown L.A & Beverly Hills – Update
Update, 4:27 Pm: Running late out of a big donor shindig in Palo Alto earlier today, Air Force One has just landed at Lax nearly an hour behind schedule.

As Donald Trump deplanes and gets in Marine One in the next few minutes for a possibly augmented trip to Dtla before his Beverly Hills fundraiser tonight, Lapd are closing down streets all over the well heeled town and West L.A. Which means traffic is coming to a prolonged halt in many neighborhoods just as the commute home commences.

I hear that some of Potus’ travel around the city may actually be trimmed because he was late getting to town, but that’s happening in real time and is fluid. Most likely Trump will skip heading to his downtown hotel now and whip over to the gathering at developer Geoff Palmer’s Bev Hills home.

All of which is to say,...

News Networks Cover Corey Lewandowski Hearing With Focus On “Impeachment”
Corey Lewandowski
Updated: Corey Lewandowski’s appearance before the House Judiciary Committee might not rise to the level of past recent bombshell hearings of the Trump era, but CNN, MSNBC and Fox News each framed the live event with a word that is just as impactful: “impeachment.”

While the committee is still in the investigative stages before deciding whether to order articles of impeachment, a move that is fraught with political risks, the cable news networks each broke away from regular programming to cover the hearing.

If anything, the coverage did give the networks a degree of drama, with the appearance of Lewandowski, President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager and outside adviser, who was known for his pugnacious approach to politics and the press.

“It’s now clear that the investigation was populated by many Trump haters to take down a duly elected president,” Lewandowski said in his opening remarks, foreshadowing...

Fredo Fall-Out: Don Jr. Knows The Feeling; Alec Baldwin, Meghan McCain, The Mooch, Kiss’ Gene Simmons & Others Have Opinions
Is “Fredo” an ethnic slur? Was CNN’s defense of anchor Chris Cuomo sexist? Did Donald Trump Jr. just confess to being the Trump family’s Fredo?

Everyone from the Trump boys to Kiss’ Gene Simmons, Meghan McCain, Anthony Scaramucci, Tom Arnold and Alec Baldwin are weighing in on the viral video of Cuomo engaged in a loud, obscenity-filled argument with a bar patron. Tha man approached Cuomo and his family and called the CNN star “Fredo,” an apparent reference to The Godfather saga’s doomed, weakling brother (played to perfection by the late John Cazale).

After both Sean Hannity and Donald Trump tweeted about the incident — taking opposite sides, for once — other responses started flooding social media, including some unexpected Cuomo support from conservatives like Hannity, Corey Lewandowski and the Mooch.

And Trump was none too pleased with anyone defending the CNN anchor, even conservatives who complained when Sarah Huckabee Sanders was publicly harassed.

Robert Mueller Disputes Donald Trump’s “No Obstruction” Mantra; Trump Tweets “No Obstruction” – Update
Refresh for updates, including Trump tweets Well, that was fast. Former special counsel Robert Mueller got right to the point in countering President Donald Trump’s oft-repeated mantra about “no obstruction.”

Under questioning from House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler, kicking off today’s hearing, Mueller confirmed that his report did not, in fact, exonerate Trump with regard to obstruction of justice. (The collusion aspects of the investigation will be addressed later today).

In the first round of questions this morning, Nadler, the Democratic congressman from New York, said, “Director Mueller, the President has repeatedly claimed that your report found there was no obstruction and that it completely and totally exonerated him. But that is not what your report said, is it?”

Said Mueller, “Correct, that is not what the report said.”

With that, today’s much anticipated hearing got straight to what Democrats hope will be one of the...

President Trump Wants a Promotion
During a recent trip north to Santa Barbara, I escaped the rain in a used bookstore and struck up a conversation about America with the clerk. We talked about the limited shelf life of so many political books, especially those with words like “Trump” in the title. But after we migrated over to the nonfiction paperbacks, one immediately struck me as both evergreen and useful. It’s called On Tyranny, a 2017 book by Yale historian Timothy Snyder, and it is so small that it can nearly fit in the palm of my hand.

Trump’s Latest Interview With Sean Hannity Was a Terrifying Display of Authoritarianism
President Donald Trump called into Hannity on Thursday night. As is usually the case whenever the president and his favorite Fox News personality convene on the air, the “interview” was extremely long — about 45 minutes this time — and incredibly terrifying.

Goaded by Hannity, Trump railed against Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation, which he described as a “coup” to “overthrow the United States government.” He also claimed the “top people” at the FBI were corrupt, and that Hillary Clinton “destroyed the lives” of people working on Trump’s campaign. Trump’s Ego Is a Risk to National Security
Corey Lewandowski
One of the more comical episodes recounted in Robert Mueller’s report occurred in the summer of 2017 when President Trump, days after futilely ordering the special counsel fired, dictated a note to Corey Lewandowski. The president told his former campaign manager to copy down a speech for then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions to read. Trump thought Sessions could effectively un-recuse himself from the investigation and clear the president all at once, declaring, according to Lewandowski’s notes, that “there were no Russians involved with him. I know it for a fact b/c I was there.

CNN Seeks ‘Both Sides’ Balance but Spurs Criticism From All Sides (Analysis)
In a time when news viewers are splintering around partisan leanings, CNN is proving to be a uniter, not a divider: people from both sides of the political aisle are eager to criticize its business decisions and news coverage.

The one-time plain vanilla network can’t win for losing as it tries to achieve an elusive balance. CNN raised eyebrows Tuesday after details leaked about its hire of Sarah Isgur Flores, a longtime Republican press aide who most recently worked for former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The former Department of Justice spokeswoman is expected to become a political editor at CNN, one of several who reports to David Chalian, a VP and political director at CNN, and helps coordinate placement and coverage of emerging stories related to politics.

News of the hire, confirmed by a person familiar with the matter after a Politico report, was greeted skeptically by...

Trump Seems to Have Made a Habit of Obstructing Justice
From firing FBI Director James Comey to his endless attempts to undermine federal law enforcement on Twitter, President Trump has obstructed justice in plan sight for most of his time in office. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s also been doing this behavior behind the scenes. Why Does CNN Have Such a Hard Time Finding (and Keeping) Pro-Trump Commentators?
Why does CNN have such a hard time holding on to its right-wing contributors? This weekend, former Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller became the sixth conservative CNN contributor to lose his perch at the network since the 2016 election.

In just under two years, Corey Lewandowski, Scottie Nell Hughes, Jeffrey Lord, Ed Martin and Paris Dennard have also departed the network for reasons ranging from errant tweets to accusations of sexual misconduct.

While liberal stalwarts like Reza Azlan and Kathy Griffin have also been shown the door, Trump defenders have long been an endangered species at CNN.

Some suggest that the network has an antipathy for conservative voices. “People who support Trump, [CNN] treats them like second-class citizens,” said one insider who has appeared frequently on the channel but asked not to be identified. “There is an extraordinary target on anyone who is pro-Trump back at CNN.”

Fox News has broadcast several inappropriate and offensive remarks this summer, including a racially tinged expression used by contributor David Bossie and a dismissive comment made by guest and former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

On the network's airwaves Wednesday morning, Republican Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis quickly incited a backlash when he said that voters in his state should not "monkey up" the election by voting for his Democratic opponent, Andrew Gillum, the African-American mayor of Tallahassee.

While America's Newsroom anchor Sandra Smith did not immediately push back on DeSantis' comment, made during the back half of the ...

‘Who Is America?’ Season 1 Ends Without Airing Sarah Palin Segment
Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin didn’t have to worry about appearing on Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Who Is America?” after all.

Baron Cohen’s Showtime show featured the comedian playing a variety of characters who interviewed unwitting real people, frequently political figures — and often got them to say and do some pretty stupid things. The final episode of “Who Is America?” Season 1 included segments featuring former Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank and O. J. Simpson, but the season concluded without airing a much-anticipated segment shot with the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate.

The Alaska Republican and former running mate of John McCain said last month she had been “duped” by Baron Cohen and claimed that the British comedian had disguised himself as a disabled veteran to interview her for his Showtime series.

Paul Manafort
Paul Manafort Found Guilty on 8 Counts in Fraud Trial
Paul Manafort
Paul Manafort was found guilty Tuesday on eight of 18 counts in his financial fraud trial, with a mistrial declared on ten other counts.

Manafort, former manager of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, was convicted on one count of failure to disclose a foreign bank account, two counts of bank fraud, and five counts of tax fraud.

He will begin a second criminal trial in Washington, D.C. in September on charges that include obstruction of justice, failure to register as a foreign agent and money laundering.

“Mr. Manafort is disappointed of not getting acquittals all the way through, or a complete hung jury on all counts,” Manafort’s attorney said in a press statement shortly after the verdict was delivered. “However, he would like to thank Judge Eillis for granting him a fair trial, and thank the jury for their very long hard fought deliberations.”

Manafort faced a 32-count indictment...

Sacha Baron Cohen Asks Howard Dean If He’s Seen Hillary’s ‘Lady Parts’
"The Golden Globe Awards - 66th Annual" (Telecast) Sacha Baron Cohen
Sacha Baron Cohen goofed on two liberal figures Sunday on “Who Is America,” trying to get Howard Dean to comment on Hillary Clinton’s gender, and asking Jill Stein about whether climate change is real.

As his character Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick, Baron Cohen brought a conspiracy theory to 2004 Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean: the question of whether Hillary Clinton is actually a man.

“Do you believe Hillary Clinton is actually a woman?” Ruddick asked Dean.

“I know, there’s lots of ideas floating around, and you know, I know her,” Dean responded.

Baron Cohen’s then showed Dean a Photoshopped image of Clinton, pointing to a portion of the image showing Clinton’s leg and asking him to explain a bulge.

Sacha Baron Cohen Reveals How Sheriff David Clarke Would Have Stopped Anti-Fascists in 1930s Germany
David Clarke
When it comes to fascism, controversial former Milwaukee sheriff David Clarke, a supporter of Donald Trump, would rather not take a side.

One year after the gathering of Nazi sympathizers and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va., left civil rights activist Heather Heyer dead, Clarke appeared on Showtime’s “Who Is America?” and didn’t condemn fascism. But he did condemn anti-fascists.

In 1930s Germany, the rise of fascism brought Hitler to power, leading to World War II, the Holocaust, and the death of hundreds of thousands. Anti-fascists might have put a stop to Hitler’s reign. But that’s not who former Milwaukee sheriff David Clarke sees as a villain.

Interviewed by Cohen’s Finnish YouTube character OMGWhizzBoyOMG, Clarke said he believed anti-fascists were anarchists. “They promote chaos.”

That’s where Cohen, as OMGWhizzBoyOMG, sought some clarification:

OMGWhizzBoyOMG: “If you were a sheriff in the 30s in Germany and the anti-fascists were marching,...

Sheriff David Clarke to Sacha Baron Cohen: ‘You Don’t Want to Take Sides’ Between Fascists and Anti-Fascists
"The Golden Globe Awards - 66th Annual" (Telecast) Sacha Baron Cohen
Sacha Baron Cohen asked David Clarke to run down the trouble with anti-fascist protesters on “Who Is America,” and agreed with the former Alabama sheriff that “you don’t want to take sides” when talking about Germany in the 1930s.

Clarke joined Baron Cohen during a segment in which the comedian played his character OMGWhizzboyOMG, a viral YouTube star from Denmark who does “unboxing” videos of toys called Shopkins. The video setup is clearly aimed at children, but the gag is that the right-leaning Whizzboy talks about “issues” with guests while opening toys.

“Let’s talk bout the dangerous people who marched in Charlottesville, or as they’re called, Antifa,” Baron Cohen’s Whizzboy said to Clarke as the segment begain. “What are they like?”

‘Who Is America?’: Corey Lewandowski Says Trump “Doesn’t Look At Race”, Dan Roberts Learns How To Survive Beheading
Corey Lewandowski
Now in its fifth episode, Sacha Baron Cohen continues his crusade to dupe unsuspecting victims on his Showtime series Who Is America? This week’s episode didn’t include the much-anticipated interview with Sarah Palin, but it did feature interviews with former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, former Milwaukee sheriff David Clarke, and pro-gun advocate Dan Roberts.

Cohen donned his pro-Trump conspiracy theorist Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr. PhD persona to chat with Lewandowski and opened a whole can of worms when it came to Trump’s stance on race.

“I can tell you this…I had the privilege of standing next to Trump for 1,000 hours. Never ever have I heard him utter a racist word in his life,” said Lewandowski when Cohen asked him if Trump is a racist.

“The president doesn’t look at race — never has. Its a non-issue,” added Lewandowski, who is known for ridiculing...

Sacha Baron Cohen Tells Corey Lewandowski That Bob Marley Was Behind Iraq War
"The Golden Globe Awards - 66th Annual" (Telecast) Sacha Baron Cohen
Sacha Baron Cohen’s interview with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski on “Who Is America?” wasn’t Baron Cohen’s most ridiculous interview, but it did have some pretty ridiculous Bob Marley-related jokes baked in.

Playing his right-wing journalist character Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick, Baron Cohen interviewed Lewandowski about his sense of Donald Trump. Baron Cohen’s Ruddick started with a question about whether Trump is racist.

“Is Donald Trump a racist, or is he the least racist man alive?” Ruddick, Baron Cohen’s pro-Trump character, asked Lewandowski to start the segment.

'Who Is America?': Corey Lewandowski, Sheriff David Clarke Talk "Antifa" on Charlottesville Anniversary
Corey Lewandowski
Sacha Baron Cohen targeted two different Republican political figures in the fifth week of his latest series, Who Is America?: former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, and former Milwaukee County sheriff David Clarke.

The comedian posted a clip of Lewandowski's interview before the episode aired, in which the lobbyist argued to Baron Cohen's right-wing conspiracy theorist character that all Americans have a right to peacefully protest, including fascists. Clarke made an appearance during a segment with YouTuber OMGWhizzBoyOMG, in which he categorized the "antifa" movement as violent and encouraging the murder of police officers. Here's ...

Trump’s Feud With Michael Cohen Will Not End Well
Though Michael Cohen once said that he’d take a bullet for Donald Trump, the president’s former attorney and fixer might flip on his former employer following the FBI’s April raid of his apartment, office and hotel room. For months, the mere possibility of Cohen turning on Trump remained hypothetical, but it now seems likely to happen. On Thursday night, CNN reported that Cohen plans to tell Special Counsel Robert Mueller that Trump knew that his son was planning to meet with a delegation of Russians and Russia-connected...

Whoopi Goldberg Denies She Spit on Jeanine Pirro: ‘You Cannot Come and Call People Names’ (Video)
Whoopi Goldberg
Whoopi Goldberg is responding to Judge Jeanine Pirro’s accusations that “The View” host told her to “get the f— out” when she was a guest on the show.

Goldberg said that Pirro “left a lot of pertinent stuff out” in her version of the story she told on Fox News. Goldberg also said she had “choice words” for the judge after Pirro called “The View” hosts “a name I cannot repeat on TV.”

“Unless you were under a rock yesterday, you know all about Jeanine Pirro’s appearance here on the show,” Goldberg said on Friday’s taping of “The View.” “Now, things got hot on the air, which you expect, that happens a lot, but I want to clear up what happened afterwards, because she talked about it on Fox News last night and ‘Fox and Friends’ this morning, or on ‘The Five’ or whatever it is, but...

Whoopi Goldberg: Jeanine Pirro Cursed ‘The View’ Bookers And Security Guards
Whoopi Goldberg
Whoopi Goldberg did not waste a minute getting to her response to Jeanine Pirro’s claims over yesterday’s high-volume appearance on The View, about which Pirro said she was ejected from the building “like a dog.”

“Things got hot on the air, which you expect. That happens a lot,” Goldberg said. “I want to clear up what happened afterwards, because she talked about it on Fox News and Fox & Friends this morning, but she seemed to leave out some key points….a lot of pertinent stuff” Goldberg said, noting there were plenty of witnesses.

Pirro had arrived at the show upset upon learning Anna Navarro would be filling in for Joy Behar, Goldberg said, reiterating what Deadline reported yesterday.

Things got hot during her second book-plugging segment, which Den Mom Whoopi seemed to cut short, though today she insisted it ran as long as scheduled.

After which, Goldberg said,...

Barstool Sports Chief Tells 20-Year-Old Female Staffer She Will Look Too ‘Gross’ for On-Camera Work in 5 Years
Dave Portnoy
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy had an uncomfortable moment on his SiriusXM radio show Wednesday after telling a 20-year-old female employee that she would be too “gross” to appear on air in five years and that people would vomit at the sight of her.

“She’s not going to be able to put her face in front of a camera in five years because people will throw up,” Portnoy said of Ria Ciuffo. “There is no apology coming for that.”

An outraged Ciuffo demanded one anyway.

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott Urges New Scrutiny Of Content
Suzanne Scott, the new chief executive of Fox News, recently urged producers to place new scrutiny on the things hosts and panelists say during various shows, as the 21st Century Fox-owned outlet has come under a microscope after a recent string of controversial statements made on air.

In a meeting with New York and Washington-based producers, Scott cautioned the group to be more mindful of “protecting the talent, protecting the brand,” according to an account by Politico, which previously revealed the recent discussion. Scott, who was named CEO in May, is the only female executive overseeing a major U.S. TV-news operation.

“As the CEO of the network, Suzanne Scott regularly leads executive and editorial meetings and she expects accountability from her senior staff, which is what all good leaders do,” Fox News said in a statement.

Fox News Suspends David Bossie for 'Deeply Offensive' On-Air Insult: Report
Another Fox News personality is in hot water for their on-air comments: Former Trump deputy campaign manager David Bossie has been suspended by the cable news network for two weeks, The Daily Beast reports, following a racially charged insult he hurled on Sunday.

During a taping of Fox & Friends Weekend, Bossie was debating with Democratic strategist Joel Payne, who is black. Payne accused President Trump and his administration of stoking up their voter base with divisive “dog whistles”: “You don’t have to be a golden retriever to hear all the dog whistles coming out of the White House these days,...
